8-27-01 Trouble with the circuit: I received the parts from radioshack at the end of last week, and between then and now have been trying to get the circuit working. I'm not having any luck though. All that is happening is that the LED briefly lights (for about a second), then shuts off.

I thought that it might have something to do with the transistors or a bad part from rs, but neither of those theories make sense. I used the same specified parts that are in the schematic, but the circuit will just not work for me Anyone have any ideas, or anyone else experimenting with this circuit? Please let me know.

8-24-01 Just to keep everyone updated, I'm still waiting on the parts from radioshack to build the circuit that was posted on the 13th. Unfortunately, things have been pretty slow lately and I've been busy, so that's the reason for the lack of updates.

8-21-01 Here is a list of required parts for the schematic that was posted on the 13th. I've compiled the numbers from Radioshack's online site and the total cost of required parts comes out to only $2.33! The list is a text file and can be found here. To find the parts, go to radioshack.com and type each number into the search box at the top of their site.

8-20-01 I've tracked down all of the parts required for the circuit that I posted a link to on the 13th(see below). They're all available from radioshack, but not in the stores(you have to buy 1 of the parts at the rs online site). As soon as I get the part #s figured out and have ordered the components, I'll put up a comprehensive list. Check back soon, I hope to have this list up within the next day or two!

8-16-01 Since a few people have been asking lately, here's a link to the
information about exchanging your Pelican LS if the original bulb has burnt out.

Alternatively, you could always just mod it with the white LED :)

8-13-01 A reader (Thanks Carson!) sent me a link to a great site that has a schematic for providing LEDs with enough current to run off of only 1 battery!

If someone could put together a parts list using sku#'s from radioshack (that is if rs would have all of the components) for this circuit that would be GREAT!

8-9-01 Finally put up pictures and notes about the 2 LED variation!

8-7-01 Check this out, my brother had me mod a Pelican shield for him today, and it now appears that they're putting a little sticker on the shield suggesting that you not use the LS in the daylight in order to save batteries :) Here's a pic.

The text reads: "Turn off light during day time play to conserve batteries".

8-7-01 Official reply from Nintendo regarding the Panasonic LCD screen production story that has been posted to several websites.
Note: it is only a short PR letter!

8-4-01 Andy's latest experiment involving a surface mount RGB LED!

8-4-01 I've posted a submitted lightboy advance mod on the submissions page that was sent to me by Chu Moy, Thanks for the story Chu!

Also, I'm working on putting up personal pics of my own 2 LED LS, and a new experiment with an RGB LED from Andy! Please be patient, I hope to have everything up this weekend :)

8-3-01 Here's a partial translation of the text that is in the mysterious article. It was sent to me by ben_whly at the ign GBA board, Thanks Ben!

8-3-01 A very interesting picture (larger version) that was found by a reader. Can anyone out there read this language and clue us in to what this article is talking about? It's believed to possibly be a method of lighting or brightening the GBA's screen?

Note: if you are the owner of this image and want it taken off of this site, just e-mail me and I will remove it. The reader who submitted the link to the original picture tried to find the owner but was unsuccessful.

8-1-01 Check out Duane's mod variation which incorporates 2 of the nichia flat LEDs into the modified light shield design!
