Personal NotesAfter the first five Cd's I assembled the two compilations discs "Ghosts Among The Ruins" and "In These Quiet Moments After Midnight" with specific target markets in mind. Knowing from past experience, the mention of the term 'new age' can be the kiss of death in certain prog circles, so I separated the more overtly progressive material for "Ghosts Among The Ruins".But to garner a new audience with no prejudice towards new age/ambient/jazz material I created "Quiet Moments". And happily, it has been my best seller. Shortly after the completion of my seventh CD "From The Ashes Of Vesuvius", I reassessed my idea to separate my music into two categories. I felt that segregating the styles detracted from the very essence of Ghosts Of Pompeii, which is variety and the complete freedom to mix, match and mutate genre. So "The Last Days Of Pompeii" was conceived as the definitive collection of Ghosts material. And I might add – it came at a time when I was seriously considering abandoning my musical aspirations to concentrate on free-lance writing. But Ghosts slowly gained momentum as I utilized the power of Internet, joined progressive web sites, and established my MP3.com page. So my spirit was rejuvenated, and what should have been my swan song – became a sequel, as I released "The Last Days Of Pompeii Vol. II" this year. This CD, offered exclusively through MP3.com, included new material from an upcoming project as well as longer orchestral pieces, and material from my earliest works. I plan to phase out "Ghosts Among The Ruins" completely – but at present it is offered at PlanetCD.com and will eventually have them offer "The Last Days Of Pompeii I & II" instead. Too many compilations will make matters confusing – and I'll soon have as many as Hawkwind. ;-)
Best Wishes,
