Peace?
Unfortunately, the stress of sorting out the recession caused an untimely death of Queen Esa at only 44, however the problem had at least been sorted by the monarch, and thus followed a few good years of peace. The reigns of Lania II, Atalanta and Aulis II seemed to pass by without great event. The cities, economy and arts continued to expand, grow and flourish although even with the rate of the urbanisation even by the reign of Ria in BC 22/ AS 1978, Aquarius was still 65% a rural society. Under the reign of Atalanta, another religious Queen, many new temples were built but also she showed her appreciation of the arts building the Theatrum de Glacialis in Notus on Castor and the Theatrum Miraculum in Naia on Galatea. In addition to these she created the Locus de Cognito (place of thought) in Europa to accompany the Misriylia Sudtzanses facility. Aulis II enjoyed the theatre from her mother’s love of it and decided she wanted a theatre in Mara so she created the Theatrum opposite to the Circulus. The Queen Aulis III founded the relationship with the family Duronius promoting them through the ranks of nobility when she chose their son Vibius Duronius Tasius (referred to simply as Tasius) for her husband. The family was of Roman blood on the male side and married into an Aquarian noble family by their daughter, Amilete. Amilete was the heiress of her family’s wealth and nobility, and her mother had a very good standing in the court of Queen Aquila. There was a trend at the time to change to a Roman name on the back of Aulis’ ‘Via Romana’ and, marrying an Earthian, Amilete changed her family name to her new husbands, Duronius. They were the first nobility of non-exclusively Aquarian blood and the rise through the ranks when Tasius became Aulis III’s king was by the standards of acceptance of the new culture, very important. It was a relationship that would continue. Aulis’ daughter, Livia (who renamed herself upon ascension as Aline V) married the son of Tasius’ brother (her cousin), Carisius and later her successors Amejisu IV and Ria would marry into the family as well. The Duronius family was promoted to a new and expensive home inside of Mara upon the Via Serenity.
