Skyline: A shooting star passes over the skyline.Plot: Frasier discovers that his insurance is no longer valid after finding out Martin forgot to post the insurance payment 3 months ago. He calls his insurance agent only to find out it is too costly to renew it. Roz suggests he call Ann Hodges, whom he had a bad date several months back. Frasier reluctantly agrees and calls her. Ann arrives and whilst going into the kitchen slips on some spilt mayonnaise! Frasier and Martin take her to the doctor. The doctor reveals Ann has broken her leg, but when she threatens to sue him when she thinks he has made a mistake, Frasier fears she might sue him. He reluctantly agrees to take her in for a few days as her apartment is on the 4th floor in a building with no elevator. However Ann soon becomes unbearable with her (not very good) trumpet playing, her forgetting to lock the bathroom door, and her just being irritating. Frasier doesn't know how much more he can take, especially as Ann thinks he is falling for her again. Eventually Frasier manages to get some papers for Ann to sign saying she won't sue him, but will Ann sign them? Meanwhile Maris's trial looms. To pay for her defence Maris, who has to wear a tracking bracelet on her ankle, is selling off some of her things. Niles is allowed to come by first and takes an embarrassing painting of himself that he plans to destroy afterwards. But Maris has put her bracelet in the painting, and as the police chase after Niles and the bracelet, Maris flies to her family's private island in the Caribbean where she can't be extradited. It's a farewell to Maris, and the Cranes toast her with a drop of wine each in their glasses. Subtitles: The Pan-American Highway. It's Maris!: Maris has to wear a tracking bracelet. She swallowed some salt tablets to swell up her ankles before it was fitted and when her ankles went back to their normal size it just slid off. She then used Niles as a decoy whilst Marta helped her flee the country. We also learn she once fired a gardener because she saw a worm on the pavement. Trivia: This is the second episode called "The ___ Who Came To Dinner". The first was of course Ep 127 "The Seal Who Came To Dinner". Ann returns from Ep 239 "The Placeholder" (and there a few references to that episode as well), whilst after a very long absence from the show, Marta also returns! She last appeared in Ep 94 "Ask Me No Questions", which was back in Season 4. Caroline, Frasier's neighbour, first appeared in Ep 244 "SeaBee Jeebies". There are mentions of Eddie and Ronee Lawrence. And Frasier books Ann and her mother on a two week cruise to Alaska to get her out of the apartment - just like the one he went on in Ep 101 "Voyage Of The Damned." |
