Atenveldt Kingdom Collegium

September 31-October 1, 2000   Sierra Vista, AZ
    The
Atenveldt Kingdom Collegium is planned for September 31 and October 1. This event will, once again, be a collaborative effort between the Barony of Tir Ysgithr and the Barony March of Mons Tonitrus and will be held at Cochise College.
    The Collegium now has a website.

Classes currently committed are as follows: Introduction to Renaissance Dance, Renaissance Italian Dance, Hats and Hatmaking, Glazing Technique for Illuminators & Painters, Gold Leafing Technique, On Making Turn-shoes, Footwear Styles of the 13th-15th Centuries, Basic Horse Care, Beginning Riding, The Horse in the Medieval Period, Barding for the Well-dressed Horse, Equipment Construction for SCA Equestrian Games, Heraldic Design, Cardweaving, Beginning Defense (Rapier), Marshalling Armoured Combat, Marshalling Fencing, Beginning Blackwork, How to Judge Arts & Sciences in the SCA, Elizabethan Clothing Overview, Leatherwork, Chain Mail Techniques, The Renaissance Kitchen, Overview of Jewelry in the Middle Ages & Renaissance, Running an SCA List, Basic Articulation, Basic Arts & Sciences Documentation, Soapmaking, On Being a Protégé/Apprentice/Squire, Autocratting a Feast, Games & Gaming, Beginning Lampwork Beadmaking, Lampwork Beadmaking Intermediate Techniques, Italian Renaissance Women's Clothing of the Late 15th Century, and Problem Garments in the SCA. More classes will be announced soon.
   
A children's track is also planned. Lady Sorcha ni Dhonnghaile (Kingdom Deputy Minister of A&S, Children's Issues) has graciously agreed to assist with the development of a track of classes designed for out youth. These classes will be posted on the Collegium website and published in the September Southwind.
   
There will be a served "Students' Feast" on Saturday evening. This will be a fully-served feast of three removes, featuring dishes from Italy, France, and Spain. Dishes include Stuffed Mushrooms, Bread, a Salad of Mixed Greens, Paduan Meats with Carrots and Parsnips, Brussels Sprouts in a Vinaigrette, Pears in Syrup, Herbed Stuffed Chicken, Chickpeas with Honey, Roman Noodles, Rice Pudding, and Sugar Wafer Cookies. The cost for the feast will be $6.00/person and reservations (required--call the Feast Autocrat listed below) will be limited to 120 persons. A specific ingredients list may be obtained by contacting the feast autocrat (see below). Feasters should bring table setting, feast gear, and beverage of choice (please respect the "dry" site). Separate sideboard seating will be available. A revel will follow, so bring your dancing shoes!
    Due to the efforts of the new Atenveldt Minister of Equestrian Arts, there will be some beginning equestrian classes offered, as well as a
camping opportunity for those not able to afford motel accommodations. This is basic camping only (no fires, trash must be taken from site) and will cost $5.00/person for the event. For those bringing horses (strongly encouraged), there is a $10.00/horse/night stall fee. Outdoor equestrian activities and camping will take place at Sierra Vista Riding Club Arena, about ˝ mile from the Collegium site.
