Baronial Champions Tourney

Lads and Lasses, visit the Highlands in the heat of the summer, enjoy the tourney and compete for the mace. The Barony of Mons Tonitrus invites one and all to come join us in the coolness of Garden Canyon. This site is easy to reach with good roads and offers a lovely camping area with real trees! The Scots in Mons will be hosting this event so if you have Scottish garb please feel free to join in the spirit, there will be a gathering of the clans before the feast on Saturday night. In true Scottish tradition the site is wet. Dogs must be on a leash. The site opens Friday afternoon. Mace and Greatsword Tourney will be held Saturday, list opens 9:00, opening court will be at 9:30 to be followed by weapons inspection. This will be a double elimination tournament. The Baronial Investiture will be Saturday afternoon at 3:30 followed by a feast and revel. Baronial Champions will be decided on Sunday on our Baronial Anniversary. Champions must be from the Barony of Mons Tonitrus.
Directions:  From  I-10, turn South on Hwy 90 to Sierra Vista. Turn right at the Main Gate of Fort Huachuca (Squire Ave). Continue to Yield/Stop sign intersection. Take left at Yield onto Winrow Ave. Go to next Stop sign, continue thru intersection. Follow signs to site.

Baronial Champion Information

    With much deliberation, we have decided how we would like to run the competition for Baronial Champion. Anyone who is a member in good standing may try for Champion. In the interest of versatility there will be five challenges: Hardsuit Tourney, Fencing Tourney, Archery Contest, Bardic Presentation and Arts & Sciences Competition. The top three in each category will be given points for an accumulation for Baronial Champion. Unless they win Baronial Champion, the victor of each martial challenge will take their respective position as Captain of the Hardsuit Guard, Captain of the Fencing Guard, or Archery Champion. Should any victor win Baronial Champion, the second place combatant in that contest will become the captain of that martial style. If the Baronial Champion is a Hardsuit fighter or a Fencer, they will command the Baronial troops during times of war. If the Baronial Champion is not a fighter of either style then command will fall to the Captains.
    The Bardic Presentation should be on something pertaining to the Past, Present or Future of this Barony. We will be giving more weight to presentation than content. It does not have to be an original piece but the performer needs the permission of anyone whose work is used.
    For Arts & Sciences we ask for something that could be used to better this Barony such as regalia or something for new members of the populace.
