"Be joyful always. Pray continually, give thanks
in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in
Christ Jesus." 1 Thes. 5:16-18
Prayer is how we come to God, how we communicate with
him. Prayer is like filling up the gas tank of your
vehicle. With regular fill ups, you don't worry about
running out of gas, your vehicle runs and you continue
on your way. With regular prayer, you retain your energy
and right spirit with God. As prayer becomes
inconsistent and unsubstantial, it's like running on
empty. You sputter and jerk and begin to slow down. You
loose desire to continue.
Prayer is how we worship God. We give him the glory and the praise. This is
the purest form of prayer. Intercession is a most
powerful prayer when we ask God for the well being
of others. Thanking God is a form of prayer. We are told
to thank him for all things whether good or bad. Taking
quiet time with the Lord is how God often communicates
with us. Often we forget this and our prayers are all
one sided. We must take time to let him talk to us and
teach us.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made by
all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to
be saved, and to come unto knowledge of the truth."
1 Tim. 2:1-4
Do you want to pray?
If you haven't prayed much, if you are not sure how but
you have a need, just pray from your heart. Tell God
just what is on your mind in your own words. If you need
help getting started the following should help:
Father, I come before you with a need. My heart is breaking and I don't know
where else to turn. Please help.....
Do you want to ask Jesus into your heart?
If you have come to a point in your life where you
realize that you need God, don't be afraid. God loves
you, he really does. It doesn't matter what ever
you may have done or said in the past, it doesn't matter
what ever anyone else has said to you or done to you
in the past, God still loves you. He will take you just
as you are.
To ask him into your heart you only have to admit to God
that you have done wrong, that you have sinned and that
you are sorry. You then ask God for his forgiveness.
This is why Jesus suffered and died, so that you as an
individual could be forgiven. Finally, ask Jesus into
your life as your Lord and Savior.
Praying from your heart in your own words is always best
but if you would like help, use the following prayer.
Jesus, I have done wrong in my life and I am sorry. I
ask you to forgive me. Please come into my heart and my
life as my Lord and Savior.
If you have just said this prayer it is important to
tell somebody. Please email me, I want to hear from you.
