Christine's Adventure in Italy
Heart Banner

While I lived in Germany, my friend Jennifer (whom I have known since I was 4) and two other girls that went to the University of Illinois with her came over to study. I picked them up at the airport in Frankfurt, and since my now ex-husband was deployed to Turkey at the time I got a Eurorail pass and traveled with them to Austria, Italy and France. We also went through Switzerland several times, but didn't get much of a chance to explore it.

Jennifer and I went to Venice, Italy on the 4th of July. It was neat to be there, since when we were children we often spent the Fourth together. As Jen said, if anyone had ever told us that one day we would be sitting together in Venice, we both would have laughed and told them that they were crazy! It was a once in a lifetime experience.

As we were walking (lost) through the streets of Venice I made Jen stop so I could take this photo.

After we left Venice, we went on to Rome. What an incredible place. It was amazing to see places that you have read about in the history books. We even had a tour guide of sorts! Jen had been an exchange student years before in Northern Germany, and the girl that she had stayed with was traveling across Europe with her boyfriend, who Jen had also met years earlier. Thank goodness his English was pretty good! He made us walk ALL over Rome though. By the time we boarded the train that night we all crashed!
