UA&P, then still known as the Center for Research and Communication, co-hosted the 4th HPAIR Conference in Manila. Distinguished lecturers included Dr. Jesus Estanislao, President of the AFTA Advisory Committee and former Secretary of Finance; and the Honorable Richard Gordon, former Chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. The conference theme was Economic Cooperation for the Pacific Century.
