Japanese Language How to Wow! Interesting Words

	追放 tsui hou (banishment) The natural responce to the question of why you came to Japan. SUGGESTED USAGE: 僕は追放されたので、来日しました。 boku wa tsuihou sareta node, rainichi shimashita. Because I was banished, I came to Japan.
	夢遊病 mu yuu byou (sleepwalking)
	ふられる furareru to be rejected, to give the cold shoulder SUGGESTED USAGE: ゴジラはキティちゃんにふられて絶望的になった。 gojira wa kiti chan ni furarete zetsubou teki ni natta. Being jilted by Hello Kitty, Godzilla slipped into despair.
	位置について、ようい、どん！ ichi ni tsuite, youi, don! (on your mark, get set, GO!) Also works well if instead of saying "どん don" (which is the sound made by a starting pistol) say "どんぐり donkuri" (means acorn!) Always a laugh or two but rarely three.
	独りでに hitori de ni (by itself) Used when something moves or does something by itself
	24k 三角関係 san kaku kan kei (love triangle) - I am a bit uneasy about making a comment for this one.
	札付き fuda tsuki (notorious)
	雪合戦 yuki gassen (snow ball fighting)
	雪だるま yuki daruma (snowman) a companion to the above
	杞憂 kyu u (imaginary fears) Use this when someone's paranoid imagination gets away from them.
	晴耕雨読 sei kou u doku (working the fields on nice days and reading on rainy ones) If you want to impress your sensei or boss, wait until a rainy day and recite this with a nostalgic sigh.
	おまけに omakeni (to make matters worse)
	末恐ろしい sue osoroshii (ominous; likely to grow worse) This is usually used when refering to overly excited children's future

	火炎放射器 ka en hou sha ki (Flame Thrower) Now, while I admit this is not part of my active vocabulary, you never know when it could come in handy.
	抜打ち nuki uchi (to draw a katana and attack with one stroke) (ALSO: to do something without warning - sudden) This is often used in the context of 'pop quizes' or when asked to do a job with a moment's notice
	生意気 nama i ki (pulling the ranks; impertinent; telling your elders what to do)
	仮説 ka setsu (hypothesis, supposition) SUGGESTED USAGE: ホームズの仮説によって犯人の熊のプーさんは逮捕された。 ho-muzu no ka setsu ni yotte hannin no kuma no pu-san wa tai ho sareta. Through Holmes' hypothesis, the offender, Winnie the Pooh was captured.
	臆病 oku byou (cowardice, timidity)
	冷静 rei sei (calm, composure, cool)
	身元確認 mi moto kaku nin (ID, checking background) SUGGESTED USAGE: 身元確認の結果、赤ずきんの本当の名前は鈴木とわかった。 mimotokakunin no kekka, akazukin no hontou no namae wa suzuki to wakatta. The results of the ID check revealed Little Red Riding Hood's real name to be Suzuki.
	接着剤 secchaku zai (super glue) SUGGESTED USAGE: 彼の悪巧みで私のいつもの歯磨きは接着剤と取り替えられていました。 kare no warudakumi de watashi no itsumo no hamigaki wa secchakuzai to tori kaerarete imashita. Through his evil plot, my usual toothpaste was replaced with super glue
