update after the move
For the last two days, I've done nothing but pack. Now I'm all moved into the new apartment and my stuff are all in storage. All 44+ containers. o.O That is not including my piano and sofa set. Yes, I have alot of stuff. ^^; One thing I regret is not being able to clean out my 'Memories' boxes and my clothes. Oh well...one year later, I'll deal with that.
I still haven't officially finished packing for Japan...which meant I brought more stuff then really necessary to okaasan's apartment. ^^; She has room...somewhat. Our landland (home number) does not exist anymore so please make note of that. I won't have internet until 12/5...which means I'm deprived until then. *cries* At least I got Junjou Romantica ep. 6 as soon as it came out and I had internet at home.
larkspur came over this afternoon to help me and be moral support. *hugs* Now, I'm over at her fellowship's dinner gathering. There is a wii and mario cart playing...along with Christmas music on endless. @.@ In either case, it is fun. Utilizing their net while I can...but can't be on for too long. Talk to you guys later. Still have much to do. Ja!

Happy Turkey Day!
I never really had a Thanksgiving pic because there weren't any pics that were appropriate. How could I forget this one? Yu Yu Hakusho chibis feasting on a giant piece of...meat. lol Hope you all have delicious meals today and tonight. I'll be spending it with my mother's friend's place and we're going to have hotpot. Itadakimasu!
end of an era....
My last day at work was 11/26...technically yesterday. I left the office close to 8pm since I needed to clean my cubicle (sorting papers and shredding confidential documents) after I wrote up all the case notes for all my cases. Yesterday, I finished the projects that I was given...just that the documents need to be translated into various languages as per our center.
My last day was a mixture of work and play...as usual. Not a surprise party (since I wouldn't be surprised anyway ^^;) but they threw me an ice cream party with 5 different flavors of ice cream and various toppings. Green tea ice cream....oishi! The manga was like a sorbet...which was what it probably was. ^^; I was given a bouquet of roses by the head of the client services department...and the usual goodbye card. *cries* One of my co-workers gave me a colorful scarf that is similar to one in the ending of Papato Kiss in the Dark. (Yes, I was the one who introduced her to that anime. ^^;) as well as a chunk of chocolate that could double as a weapon. I thought it was a piece of the building or something! She passed on a gift from our supervisor (who is away) which was a gift card from Barnes and Noble. Yay! Books! My previous supervisor presented me a gift card from Cold Stone. Books AND ice cream! Yay! We spent the rest of the party discussing about Japan and living there and good food. Saying goodbye to everyone felt more like saying 'see you later' which was what I truly wanted. Everyone knows I love working there and would want to return if I'm given the opportunity. ^^;
My co-workers are sending me off on Dec. 6. We'll be eating in Chinatown and perhaps KTV afterwards. Of course, ice cream is involved somehow. ^.^

my life in little boxes
Unlike my previous major move (to LI,) I'm not throwing much stuff out. I'm still very much the pack rat, but an organized pack rat. ^.^ I didn't sort much of the stuff I packed away so many years ago...more like gaze at them and remember. (I barely went into my stuff animal containers since I'm still >.< over my loss.) Much of my stuff are already packed away and my living room is overflowing with boxes. I'm happy to announce that I have amassed 2 large containers and 2 smaller boxes (not very small though) of manga. ^^V And I still have some on the way and some that couldn't fit. I have 2 smaller boxes of VHS tapes of anime and a small collection of dvds. My non-anime reading material? 1.5 boxes. Yay for manga!
It's alot and counting it like this is kinda over my head right now. But it's almost 26 years of my life and I'm glad I only have this much. Clothes and electronics will be packed last. I still have other move-prep stuff to do so I've taken to not sleeping. ^^; Oh well...I'll sleep in a moment...after I watch a bit of Junjou Romantica season 1 ep. 7 uncensored....

After church, I decided to go see 'Twilight' with some church friends...something I haven't done in a loooong time. The movie was based off a book and I really liked it. Everything had an ethereal feel to it...sorta like 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' with all the trees and climbing. ^^; Are they vampires or monkeys? lol Dramatic and flowery without any real flowers. I thought it was slightly overdone, but still 'real' enough to be enjoyable. I thought the scenes were nice...nothing unncessary. My fav was the baseball scene which was just plain out of the blue, hilarious and perfect. I look foward to seeing any of the sequels. ^.^

reunions
After dropping off the stuff at the new house, I went to an old church friend's house. She just met with two others from TACQ and I got caught up with 'who is getting married next?' news. I went over the news that I'm leaving for Japan and we made plans for the evening...mainly eating and watching whatever she recorded on tv...which was Pokemon Lucario movie (I prompted and she agreed ^.^) and 'Must Be Santa.' We ended watching 'Must Be Santa' and it was interesting if not predictable. lol I have to stop talking during movies. ^^; Our meal was stuffed pizza and cheese on a beef patty which was delicious along with garlic knots. Since she was baking for church tomorrow, we stopped by the supermarket for a few ingrediets whilst picking up dinner. It was an enjoyable evening and it was fun catching up on each other's lives.
I also needed to return the umbrella to her after borrowing it for X amount of months. That's how long we haven't seen each other. ^^; After picking up the rest of my stuff from my aunt's house, we headed home. Must get to sorting tonight!

missing my stuff animals
After dropping off the DVDR and the USB mic with my godmother, okaasan and I headed to her new place to drop off some things and do some initial rent stuff. Then we headed to my aunt's house to pick up my things in her garage. With the list that I created 6 years ago in hand, I found all my boxes. I'm only missing two garbage bags of stuff animals. No, my aunt did not accidentally throw them away. Turns out, there was a rat infestation some time ago and got into the bags and my animals. >.< So she had to throw them away. I never threw away my stuff animals so parting with them is kinda sad. I haven't even looked into the other two containers (yes I had 4 filled with stuff animals) yet since I'm kinda dreading what I lost. Will be sorting everything tomorrow after I pick up the rest of the boxes from my aunt's place. (Need to go again since I couldn't pack everything into the car.
another round of midtown
My aunt drove me to the busstop so I can get the bus to the train station into the city. She wants to take me out to eat with my other aunt. (Perhaps I can grab my cousin to come with me. ^^;) I took the train to the city and met up with animemiz and crew at Kino. We walked around upstairs checking out the new BL before heading to Bookoff and then Cafe Zaiya. I sold a VHS tape and DVD that I got for free at conventions before heading upstairs to stare at more BL. (No Junjo Romantica manga. >.<) At Cafe Zaiya, I had a spicy tuna sandwich and a chocolate muffin...that wasn't very muffin-y and not very chocolately. ^^; But it was still yummy so yay! Next stop was Asahiya where we met up with another of animemiz's usual crew. After Asahiya closed, we headed to Borders at Columbus Circle. I don't remember going there but it was pretty with all the snowflakes lighting up to Christmas-type music. We left after animemiz bought something and Borders closed. We headed to the subyway after my goodbyes....
Arigato to 801megane for more BL magazines...including Rinka (which is not really a BL) that had Watase Yuu-sensei's BL manga Sakura Gari. O.o The scenes.... *nosebleeds*
the ring
801megane gave me a bit of info concerning vol. 5 of Only the Ring Finger Knows. No spoilers, but I must mention, I'm kinda relieved that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in terms of drama and angst. Definitely, Wataru is pretty angsty by the end of vol. 4 and he is totally worried in vol. 5, but the cause of his angst, the reason is of course Kazuki. And Kazuki did what he did...as an idiot. That is all I can say because I basically facepalmed when I heard about it from 801megane. >.< I can't believe he did that knowing what how sensitive Wataru is...and he did it anyway. If I can strangle Kazuki I would. ^^;
Pearl-chan, I know you love him and all, but I could seriously slap that dude. lol I'll leave him to you.
We also got into an interesting conversation about Kiss All the Boys and I basically facepalmed some more. Why? Doshite? *headdesk*
Meet the Magnificent...Akinator!
Answer a few questions, and the Akinator will reveal the character you are thinking of. Supposedly the bot can guess real life and fictional characters, but of course I stuck with anime characters. He guessed Ritsuka (which was my first character of course ^.^) and got Soubi after messing up and named Sanji from One Piece first. (How they are alike...I'll never know. Is it the smoking?) However, he didn't get Seimei. Apparently obscure characters boggles him and similar character confuses him. (Heero and Light is the same person? Who knew?) Overall, awesome game! ^.^ *goes play some more*

boysenberry go bye-bye
Broccoli USA division closed up shop this week which means their yaoi line, Boysenberry is no longer available. They're only a year old and came out with 4 books, two of them by Yamato Nase-sensei. Add one of those titles with their Takuhai Cupid release by CJ Michalski, it seemed to be a BL line with a good shota mixture. (Not complaining at all. ^.^) Their other title was Sex Friend by Kamuro Koreaki which was not shota at all...but then that was it. *is sad* I like Pet on Duty...then again, all of Yamato Nase stuff are pretty cute. The news doesn't seem to be on their site, but the press release is on giapet.net.
tomorrow's plans
I'm going to be heading back into the city tomorrow on my day off. *insert sighs of exasperation on my part* First, I'm going to be in Queens picking up all my stuff from my aunt's house, returning stuff that I borrowed from my godsisters and heading to the office to do some 'gift' work. Then I'm eating out with my Japanese co-worker and meeting animemiz and crew in EC or midtown. Busy busy busy....

I can basically split all my energy into 3 things now...all non-anime related. ^^; Work, move from LI to Qns and move to Japan. Yes, I will be moving back to Qns. after 6 years. Technically, I'm not moving back but okaasan is. But my entire household will be packed up again. It will happen at the end of November (the move) and the packing for okaasan has already commenced. I will start this saturday so NO GOING OUT FOR ME. This friday, I plan to pick up the rest of my stuff from my aunt's house...the stuff that I packed away 6 years ago when I moved to LI. I miss my stuff animals! ^^; And my anime and manga.
I hope to also return her DVR to my godsisters on friday. I haven't finished my recording of my FMA PS2 game...but that will have to wait. I'm not planning to bring my PS2 to Japan. Yet. Maybe later. ^^; So busy...so must sleep! Oyasumi!

tadaima!
Been sooo busy that I wasn't even able to update. Well, here is the 411 on the past few days. Besides working and Japan job/apartment search, I've been getting ready to move. I need to pack all my things so they can be moved into storage. Okaasan is looking into apartments since staying here is imposssible now that management has changed. (Long story, complaints later.) That is her problem since I have to deal with my own move. Right now. The last two days took on a different pace....
fun filled friday
After work, I went to the salon to meet up with GL. She made a reservation for me which I barely made since emergencies and issues popped up within the last hour I was working. o.O At her insistence, I finally decided to go for a pedicure as well as the manicure. Since I'm very against people looking at my ugly feet (not even working on my feet) so it was my first pedicure. ^^; The scrubbing of my soles was very ticklish, but I was able to stay very still. ^^V GL chose my color which was pink diamond. My toes turned out so shiny. *blinded by the reflected light* Afterwards, we headed to her place.
Dinner was a mixture of take out and leftovers. We opted to eat less since we wanted to head to the dessert truck at Astor Place. There was sooo many people there. The line wasn't that long and I chose my dessert of molten chocolate cake with ganache center. So tasty.... It would have been perfect with ice cream except they were out. *is sad* GL got baked apples and cinnamon with a flaky pastry and fresh whipped cream. Oishi! I want to get that next time and dark chocoate mousse bombe. The desserts were $5 each with an extra $1 if there is vanilla ice cream. We walked halfway back to Chinatown and bussed the rest of the way.
GL's boyfriend couldn't get his Bklyn buds to drink with in Bklyn so he came out to Chinatown to drink with his Chinatown buds. GL and I headed over Canal Lounge for karaoke and drinks. GL taught me how to play the two main games of dice and we tried several games on the machine (which I totally sucked at.) FYI, my drinks were non-alchoholic though the bartender (who is friends with GL and crew) tried to give a Blue Hawaii with alchohol although we asked for a virgin. Bartender: There is no alcohol in that! Me: *tries it* Yes there is. GL's friend: *tries* Uh...yeah, that's alcohol. GL: *sips* There's definitely alcohol in that. They changed it to a virgin pina colada. Their fruity mixed slushie-type drink was delicious though. I sang 'Fairy Tale' and 'Promise' by Michael Leung since asking for Japanese songs brought on laughs. (It was that kind of bar.) It was an open room rather then a private one. The smoke was thick and we left before 2am.
Midnight snack turned into heading for Noodletown for late-late-late dinner. (When to restaurants close in Chinatown? ^^;) I ordered congee since I don't think I could've finishe a bowl of noodles so late at night. We ordered snails and I ate a mountain of them. ^.^ We headed back to GL's apartment and showered. I watched about five minutes of Junjou Romantica 2 ep. 4 before declaring calling it a night and falling asleep quickly. (FYI, didn't sleep at all the night before since I finished my review. ^^;)
non-stop eating saturday
Although we were planning to wake at 11am so that we could head to Crate and Barrel to look at wine glasses, I groggily woked at 12pm. I washed my hair (since it stunk of smoke and I was too sleepy to wash it the night before) and we got dressed in time for lunch with animemiz and crew. The plan was to meet at EC at 1pm in time for the 1:30pm reservations.
Let me explain a bit about how we ended up eating lunch together. GL told me she had a surprise for me on saturday. I thought it was saturday morning, but turned out that she made reservations for a 'secret' place and that I would definitely like it. The reservations were for brunch and I already told animemiz that I would join them for lunch. The reservations were difficult to get and since I didn't want to cancel my lunch dates with animemiz (who so graciously arranged it so that I can have more time with them before I leave,) GL made the 3 person reservations into a 8 person table (although the maitre'd was like o.O when she called to add 5 more people to a saturday table on a friday.)
Reservations got changed again since GL's friend didn't show up yet and two guys of animemiz's crew didn't show up yet. We went to the restaurant to see if they'll seat part of us...which we got a no. One guy got to EC and ended up not meeting with us since the other guy was VERY, VERY late and didn't have a cellphone. First guy had to wait for the the second guy. >.< Confusing ne? No need to understand anyway. GL's friend show up after train issues and we turned the meal into a 7 person table. Thankfully, they didn't charge us the $10 cancelling fee per person. Yes, it was that kind of restaurant. The place? Essex. I wanted to go there with GL for her b-day but couldn't make it. That was the surprise.
Brunch was delicious with a breakfast-type entre with 3 alcoholic drinks...$16 per person (more if you added salad and homefries.) For those who didn't want alcoholic (like me) had orange juice. Animemiz downed two screwdrivers and tried her sister's mimosa...and disliked it. ^.^ Their potato pancake was delicious (I had some of GL's friend's dish,) and my order of egg benedict with salmon was amazing. Oishi! So happy that I got to finally go there. ^.^
We headed back to Chinatown via subway. I was heading back to GL's apartment to pick up my bag and meet up with the guys at EC. Animemiz and crew was suppose to walk with us since GL lives so close to EC anyway...but we lost them halfway. (GL's friend called us Lemmings since we were always going anywhere together. ^.^ lol At least I'm not taking them to a cliff....) I couldn't reach them by cell, but I knew where we were headed anyway. I got my bag from GL's place, said goodbye to her friend and headed to EC. Turns out, I lost track of my 'Lemmings' since animemiz lost her phone and Ipod and went back to look for it. Unfortunately, she couldn't find it. I played two rounds of Jump Ultimate Stars with the dude I played with before (the one who was VERY, VERY late for brunch) before saying goodbye to everyone and headed to my next gathering.
Hotpot at KW's. We had one last month as well. One of my Japanese co-workers was already helping out when I arrived. I proceeded to help wash vegetables and KW's girlfriend and her friend arrived. Turns out, her friend is half Japanese with tons of connections in Japan. O.O Of course, we started talking about my plans in Tokyo and she said she'll look into getting me connected with others in the area. Yay! ^.^ Tons of KW's friends arrived and we had yummy hotpot and cupcakes, cookies and brownies with ice cream for dessert. So full.... We played MJ with chips and KW's female friend proceeded to cream us with her made MJ skills. ^^; I won once 'zhi mou' style (I picked up the winning tile) which is total yay. Left before 11pm so I can catch the next train home.
The last two days were all about food...I think I'm going to be eating light for the next few days. ^^; It was fun hanging out with eveyone.

pressed for time
I have lots that I need to do and very little time to accomplish all of them. For now, I can only handle a bit at once. This friday, I'll be staying over GL's place...sorta like 'last time before I leave' sleepover. She promises me a surprise and my only hope that it isn't a guy. lol I joked with her that if it was a guy, he better be covered in whipped cream and/or ice cream. Mmmm...ice cream. Her response? "That can be arranged." ^.^ Saturday will be a luncheon with animemiz and crew and another evening of hot pot session with co-workers. Between then and now, my main concern is to finish remaking a belt for my Tomoyo-hime cosplay and doing one more manga review. Why am I remaking the belt? Well, the other one got seriously dirty and I'm not able to wash it. Anyway, the belt is easy to make once I sit down and actually run it through with the sewing machine. ^^;
Plans concerning Japan have not solidified yet in terms of housing and work. News will be posted once I'm sure of something. I hate posting things half-planned. ^^; That is done on my free time since work time has been concentrated on work. Oshigotou, oshigotou!
Pocky Day? Yay!
On another note, 11/11 (couple hours ago) was Pocky day. It never caught on in Japan but it'll always be pocky day in my book. Yes, I'll add it to 2009 calendars once I get around to them. Will I be making one for next year? Don't know yet. I probably will...later on once I settled in Japan. ^.^ No promises!

After church today, I went to Chinatown for P-chan's grandmother's funeral service. It was for 3-7pm and I got there at 6pm...as planned. I greeted P-chan and her family and went to sit. Turns out, Alby-kun and friend was sitting right behind me...they arrived at 2:30pm. o.O He is not on HK time like the rest of us. ^^; They left soon after and P-chan came to join me. Of course, the entire room was filled with flowers. I helped P-chan bring over some of the paper ornaments that were to be burned in the back furnace. (Haven't seen that since I was 4...wow...that brings me back. <.<) We spent the rest of the time folding gold paper into tubes before the entire room bow and the service ended. I joined P-chan, family and friends at the ABC restaurant nearby where we proceeded to finish everything on the table. Yes, I like lobster tails. ^^; P-chan's auntie friend sent me back home since she lives at Port Jefferson so I was able to get home at a reasonable hour.
Pearl-chan was unable to make it since she is feverish. *passes over medicine* I surprisingly did not shed any tears though the longing was there. There is no use putting on a strong face in public and if I must cry, I will.

a bit of fun at work
Thursday night was the gala of our agency. It was large, extravagent and costly. Not for the staff and volunteers of course, we got in for free...but with $250 per ticket, it was a costly affair. The usual scuffwork was completed way before 5pm and we did some hanging out in the backroom and drank free soda and some started in on the open bar early (lol non-alcoholic until the evening officially started.) Sprite and soda water for me all evening. (Yes, the open bar was wasted on me. ^^:) After handling the check in area downstairs, I headed up and did a quick round of the auctions table and grabbed a few hor d'oeuvres. (Unfortunately, I didn't get to eat the lamp pieces that people were saying were delicious.)
Dinner opened with a salad with a giant mushroom (portabello?) with a slice of goat cheese on cucumber and greens. The bread was good with the butter and I totally ate everything. (No surprise there.) The entre was filet mignon and fish that was so tender. (I think it was sea bass.) One of my co-workers didn't want to eat the fish which I gladly taken it off her plate. It was so yummy that I can forgo the steak and have several servings of fish. Oishi! The end of the auctions signalled the end of dinnertime for me (for the time being) as I went to help wrap up the silent auction items. (FYI, nothing major at the auction table to note...perhaps two tickets for an upcoming fashion show might throw up some attention...just not me. BTW, the tickets were raffled off and not part of the auction. ^^;) After the items were ready to be given to the winners, I headed back to my table for dessert. Apple tart and Hagen daz ice cream in a chocolate cup. Eclairs, cannoli and chocolate covered strawberries. O.O (All I thought about while eating the strawberries was Junjou Romantica season 2, episode 2 and 3. lol
I was one of the last ones to leave, being that I helped to the very end. I caught the subway with a co-worker (same as last year, I think) and we chatted all the way up to Penn. where I caught the next train. Unfortunately, no pictures of the evening will be posted.
One last note, I played 'Nocturne Pour Tamaki' once on the wonderful black, baby grand Kawai piano before the evening opened. ^.^

I bought Ai no Kusabi vol. 4 today. I also asked Pearl-chan to order Junjo Romantica vol. 1-7 for me. I'll be taking them to Japan with me so it'll be something to look forward to when I'm there. ^^; There is so much happening that I won't be able to seriously read it until I'm settled down anyway.
another evening...another gala
My company's annual gala will take place tomorrow. Since I'll be helping out, I can attend it without a ticket. Silent auction, good food, famous Asians (dunno who though) will be the highlights of the evening. Also, I'll get to hang out with my co-workers in a formal setting. It'll be an interesting evening and I look foward to it. Of course, I'll be wearing the same black dress I wore last year and the year before that. ^^; Some previous co-workers will also be there: GL will be attending as a guest and KW will be attending as a volunteer, like us. Another awesome evening awaits us.... Kampai!

recalling a dream
As most of you may know by now, I'll be moving to Japan in Dec. I bought my tickets today and I'll be leaving 12/12 with a 6am flight. >.< There is still alot of stuff to be done and I'm working on them one by one. But first, I want to reveal a bit of my reasons for the move.
Living in Japan has always been a dream of mine for many years. Yes, I'm one of the gaijin otaku who is in love with the subculture of Japanime and am a Japanophile in general. Of course I intend to keep my 'maniac' qualities in check when I'm there. (Still consider myself more fujoshi then a simple otaku though. ^.^) However, as insane as I am, my reasons for moving does not just consist of these things.
I shared some of my reasons with some of you guys, but here it is again. I want to go to Japan because it a place where nothing is tied to any of my past relationships. I don't mean that I will forget when I'm there, but it is a new surrounding that no one in my past has been to. Where I'm living now, church and even work area...there are ties to my past. Even if I move, I know I want to stay in LI due to the convenience for my mother and pure laziness for the routine that has been established. This will be a push for me to get out of myself and not wallow in the past. (P-chan has reprimanded me many times for that already.)
It is also a growing up process. This experience will force me to live on my own, handle my own things. I will be taking care of myself, surviving on my own wages. I won't have to financially take care of anyone else. Living for myself is a motto that I have used constantly. Selfishly, egotistically, whatever makes me happy...for the past few years, this has been the way I survived through my depression. (That and through anger.) I intend to continue the trend by leaving my mother behind and truly living for myself. I'm not the best person to be living on my own, but I believe I can do it. If not, I must learn. I want to meet the challenges head on. I chose a pretty difficult place to start (language barrier,) so among my initial challenges will be language. I don't absorb langage as well as others, but I will succeed.
Humans have the worse memories. I don't usually forget and I don't mean to cut away my past (impossible truly,) but I will create more memories.
Of course, updates will be posted regularly. Ganbarre, Rai-chan!

another calendar done!
Since I didn't have to create that many backgrounds and the monthly templates have already been completed with holidays, I was able to finish the rest of the calendars today. ^.^
Not my best work (and I find myself repeating the same patterns a few times >.<) but still pretty good...at least I think so. ^^; Some may have to be redone since the resolution of the pics are not so good. But I'll leave that for my co-worker to find. I'm busy with other things....
plans for tomorrow
I still have two more reviews to do, one of which I'll complete tomorrow. I have a few things to announce as well, so please check back. ^.^ *yawn* Now for shower and bed....

one calendar done!
I'm up so late at night since I just finished making one of the calendars for my co-worker. The theme is YunJae doujin and I tried not to deter the attention away from the picture. Not alot of photoshopping was needed except for the full-length pics since background needed to be created. Since it's been customized so much, I'm not going to post this up (even though I think it's such an awesome set...better then my Inuyasha sets last year.) However, here is a taste from my screenshot....
