Gallery up!

Instead of hosting the gallery on my site, I decided to just link to photobucket. ^^; There is no password on the yaoi gallery...but in truth, there is nothing much there except for a kissing pic that I also featured on my con report. Most of the pics are from other photographers so credit goes to them. ^.^ The main link to the gallery is in the viable section. Enjoy!

reunions

After much delays on my part, I finally met up with P-chan and our friend at Applebee's. We caught up on each other's lives...mostly me surprising her with my 'new' hobbies aka. cosplay and me learning about her plans to move to Sydney, Australia in August. o.O P-chan and I are definitely making plans to visit her in Canada before she moves to the other side of the globe. ^^;

We also presented her with gifts, one cute one in the Forever Friends wedding bear set, something sexy from Victoria Secret and a gag gift in the Kama Sutra book. (FYI, NOT my idea...I just agreed to it. ^-^) I went back P-chan's house and watched the end of 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' before heading into Chinatown to meet with co-workers.

X met up with me on the way to Elizabeth Center, but didn't come with us to 8th Ave of Brooklyn (also known as 2nd Chinatown.) The cafe we hit was yummy! Lots of cheese-covered dishes that weren't too salty. *drools in memory* There was this fried taro beef rib dish that had a bone which the entire table practically vote that I finish off the dish...which I happily did. ^^;

Afterwards, we headed to '100 Fun' to sing karaoke. I sang 'First Time' and 'Promise' by Michael Leung pretty badly...but I love the songs. I also sang 'Everytime We Touch' by Cascada and 'Every Heart' by Boa. The results were much better. ^.^ I think my best song was 'Accidentally in Love' which is a song that I've been listening to on my mp3 recently (since I saw the Loveless amv that I posted about earlier this month. Of course, my co-workers jumped on the song lyrics...mostly the words 'strawberry ice cream' and 'I'm in love...accidentally.' *headdesk* ^^;

Took a late late train back home and was thoroughly knocked out. Still am. ^^; *yawn* I need a nap....

My Tomoyo-hime headpiece broke on the way home and I just fixed it. ^^; I also cleaned up my cosplays. I'm working on the gallery now. I hope to have it up by this weekend if not tomorrow night.

saturday plans

P-chan and I are planning to meet our junior high friend for lunch on saturday. We're thinking about taking her to a lounge so that we can get some serious drinking going on along with some catching up. That evening will be another getogether with my co-workers and possibly Jenn-chan. Our plans will be the same as the one we had two weeks ago (but didn't get to do:) karaoke and dinner. So busy! It'll be fun hanging out with everyone. ^.^

me? proofreading?

If you read my con report, you would have found out that I spoke with the managing editor of Media Blasters (Kitty Media division,) Frank Pannone. I spoke with him about proofreading upcoming works and he even asked me (to make sure) that I would be fine working with yaoi and yuri. ^^; Of course! It took me 2 hours to write a short, okay sounding cover letter, edited my resume and e-mailed them both out. o.O No, this 'job' will not pay me anything, but if I get this position, I will get to work on new manga that is coming out in the US, I would gain experience in the editing/publishing field (which is something I actually am interested in) and I would have opportunities to network with people in the Japanime world. *__*

Plus, Kitty Media will stop (or at least not so much) coming out with manga that has Japanese publisher names mixed with character names. ^^;

Now my to-do list...

    1. post up pics
    2. clean up cosplays

clips up in record time!

I posted up youtube vids for the amvs, masq, 'Men of Anime' panel and from the cosplay chess. I'm missing two amvs that I want to link to since they were so awesome, but the main one I'm concentrating on as in 'I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS VID AGAIN' is 'The Sexual Harrassment of Kyon' which is hilarious. I'll try to find better vids for the masq, especially the special exhibition skit that was presented during the intermission. That was the best.

Basically, any new and/or better vids that I find, I will link to in my con report. ^.^ Enjoy!

My to-do list is getting smaller... ^^V

Con report for AnimeNEXT 2008!

    [ + ] Pre-con: Thursday, June 19

    [ + ] Day 1: Friday, June 20 - Aoyagi Ritsuka

    [ + ] Day 2: Saturday, June 21 - Tomoyo-hime

    [ + ] Day 3: Sunday, June 22 - black kimono

The con report is incomplete: I need to add the vids and info for some of the panels, masq and sunday chess tournament. Also, I wrote this in a hurry so there is sure to be stuff that I missed and mistakes. I'll edit it tomorrow. For now, you can enjoy the pics that I posted and my tl;dr report. ^.^ To do list below:

    1. post up pics
    2. find amv winning vids, masq. clips, panel clips and anime chess vids
    3. clean up cosplays
    4. contact Media Blasters' Frank Pannone (more info in con-report)

My goal is to finish this list by this week. Ganbarre, Rai!

back in the states

Over the weekend, one of my friends from junior high returned from Canada. She left NY after high school and we barely kept in touch. P-chan is closer to her than the rest of us, but I still count her as one of my first friends. Happily, she is engaged to be married making her the first out of the original four of us to tie the knot. *pops champagne bottle* We're planning to meet some time this week since she will be leaving by Sunday. I can't wait!

post-con exhaustion

As usual, I'm suffering from post convention exhaustion. Came back around 8:30pm, unpacked and sorted out my things. I actually have some 'bad aftertaste' from this con and it isn't because of my tiredness or because I'm going through 'post-con depression'. There are other things, but I won't detail the reasons until I'm more awake. For now, here are my usual post-con plans. (Yes, another to-do list. Gotta keep track of myself. ^^;)

    1. write up con-report
    2. post up pics
    3. find amv winning vids, masq. clips, panel clips and anime chess vids
    4. clean up cosplays
    5. contact Media Blasters' Frank Pannone (more info in con-report)

I decided that I will not go see L: Change the World. I've been too busy lately, and seeing a movie (as much as I love L) by myself will be a waste if Christine-neechan will be unable to come with me. I guess we'll both wait for the dvds to come out. Are they out already? I dunno...but time to sleep! Oyasumi!

Hyatt...is a Hyatt

I'm totally loving the room. Since it's only a king sized bed, there is a large sofa and flat screen tv...and plenty of room. I don't have to worry about 801megane and iceblueaya and me squeezed together on the bed...though we can certainly all fit on a king. The sofa makes a nice sleeping place as well. Anyone want to join me? ^-^ (My room so I get to sleep on the bed. ^.^) The usual to-do list is below which is pre-con tradition of what I usually do on thursdays....

    1. Shower
    2. Iron cosplays
    3. Pick up pre-reg tickets
    4. Go over schedule

Dinner is in there somewhere. I might go to Outback since I'm craving that tuna salad thing I had last year. For now, I'm relaxing. ^.^

delay in application

I have been working on my resume and essay for hopeful entrance in to the Aeon Conversational School in Japan. There is alot of information online concerning this program and I hope to get in and leave for Japan within 6 months...by the end of November. This isn't news to many of you since you hear me talk about it in some form or another. Problem is, I'm not done with the essay writing yet.

It's 500 words which should be simple and I have it all written out already...except that it's crappy. I spoke too much about my 3 mental goals of 'why I want to live and work in Japan' and barely wrote about my reasons for going there. Confused? Well...anyone would be if they read my essay. I'm definitely unused to writing essays now and many have noted that this essay is not an explanation of my abilities and experiences that a cover letter may have...but more on the actual 'why' aspect.

Yes, I'm making sure I'm not writing as a Japanese-wannabe and I'm definitely writing it without any otaku elements. I have been caught with a writer's block for some time and am starting to worry about the other aspects of the interview: 2 trial lessons...one I make up and the other based off of what is on the paper. I won't go into this just yet...but I must rethink my stragedy. No, I'm not giving up on Aeon and especially not giving up on Japan. I just need to take this a step at a time.

With writer's block, I won't be able to write much now. I was suppose to finish it before this week, but it got delayed. Now, I'm planning to finish it next week. Right now, I'll sleep before waking up and packing. ^^;

The usual to-do list

Leaving for the con on thursday (around noon hopefully) so I'm super busy lately. I already confirmed the details with the hotel and everything is set: I'll have a fridge in my room...which is actually standard for Hyatt. Yay! I also bought my usual supply of Pocky for guests and friends. ^-^ So now all I have to do is....

    1. Pack
    2. Go over pics for autographs (almost done with this one)
    3. Iron cosplays (when I reach hotel)
    4. Go over schedule (when I reach hotel)
    5. Pick up pre-reg tickets (when I reach hotel)

I'm going to be using my old camera since I haven't bought a new one yet. ^^; My list is shorter then usual since I anticipated it already. *pats self on back* But my list for work is as long as ever. Ganbarre, Rai!

Back to Kamui

Joann's where I ordered my buckles FINALLY called me to let me know they're in. >.< Good thing I'm not cosplaying this this weekend since my wig isn't even here yet. (Did they even send it out?) I'll look into the issue of the wig and everything when I get back. What will I do with this cosplay? I dunno...but there are some sewing techniques that I want to try. This will be a side project and I'll handle it after the con.

over bubble tea

Yesterday, I arrived at Elizabeth Center later then expected, running to the entrance just as the storm started (again.) Yes, I forgot my umbrella, but Jenn-chan had hers so all was good. ^-^ Slowly, the rest of the group came and we went to a nearby restaurant to eat. The fish head was yummy and they let me have the huge piece of bone in the beef dish. Oishi! *drools in memory* My fav is still the shrimp and broccoli in mayo as well as the fish. Since half of the prospective group disappeared due to schoolwork/rain/tummyaches, we forego the karaoke. Instead, we headed to Greentea Cafe and had ice cream and bubbletea. Jenn-chan and I ordered toast with condensed milk and we talked for a looong time. It was past 11pm when we separated. We're planning to have another getogether in two weeks since so many went missing. Jenn-chan is coming again so it'll be awesome as usual. ^.^ Yay!

convention plans all green

Loveless photoshoot has been set for Friday at 3pm which means my Tomoyo-hime cosplay will be for Saturday. Unless otherwised inclined, I'll be wearing my usual kimono for sunday. I went over the program already and marked off which panels I want to head to...the only fandom panel being D.Grayman. It'll be awesome seeing the others from NYAF again...including Natsuo whom I just saw at NYCC.

Gonna work hard this week getting all my work together so I can enjoy this convention in peace. Ganbatte, Rai!

Yay for schedule!

I just have to say I'm soooo happy that the yaoi panel is after the masquerade on Saturday because I don't have to miss anything. ALSO, the yaoi anime is right AFTER the yaoi panel. Yummy...late night yaoi. Which means I'll miss the dance, but we'll see how I feel. ^^;

For those that don't understand, I'm thrilled to see the program schedule posted on the AnimeNEXT site. *hugs program* As for guests, I'm most excited to see Brad Swaile (Quatre, Gundam Wing) Brian Drummond (Zechs, Gundam Wing) and Rich McNanna (Shuichi, Gravitation). There are others, but these three are on top of my list.

Quatre! *fangirl squeal*

Brad Swaile is the VA whom my godsisters met at Stony when I was at Taiwan several years ago. He was the one who signed my Quatre pic with the words 'Hope I get the chance to meet you next time!' *swoons* I'm going to have him sign the same pic. No, I'm not having him sign the same pic that he signed two years ago, but I'm printing the same pic because that is the perfect pic of Quatre to put on my wall. Zechs' pic is in the same style. Big head shot of pilot and gundam. (Though in Zechs' case, it is the Tallgeese. ^.^)

with karaoke and food

I'm heading into the city tomorrow to meet my co-workers for dinner, karaoke and bubble tea. We haven't had an outing in a loooong time so I'm looking forward to hanging out with co-workers (some are ex-co-workers.) Jenn-chan will be joining us since I have seen her in awhile either. ^.^ We'll be meeting at Elizabeth Center at 5:30pm. The guys know to find me downstairs if they can't reach me. I'll be there early drooling all over the swag down there. ^^;

more boyish

My new wig for Ritsuka arrived today! *puts on head* Wow...I can't believe I can fit all my hair in there. O.o It's not perfect, but better than my other wig. The sides are shorter then Ritsuka's hair from the series, but that's because my hair is all on my head and pushes the wig up. The wig also has these stretchy clips on the sides that goes a bit around my head which makes it feel pretty snug. I spent a good 10 minutes posing in front of the mirror with my cat ears on. ^-^ Definitely much better.

I'm planning to wear my wig to work tomorrow since my hair has already achieved wig-hair flatness. ^^; I'm going to meet a client tomorrow afternoon...but there shouldn't be a problem...hopefully. ^^; Even though I'm not going to do Kamui, I can't wait to see what that wig looks like in person. *waits impatiently*

Tomoyo detailing...all done!

I fixed the crescent moons on the sides of the top after getting advice from my cosplay friend and added another clip to the belt. I love this costume. I think it'll be my fav after Kikyo. Then again, I love all my cosplays. ^.^

Inuyasha is almost over!

Seems that Takahashi Rumiko-sensei's longest running series, Inuyasha will finally see an ending according to ANN. The final chapter is in next week's issue of Shonen Sunday. I just hope that it is an actual ending complete with Kikyo dying (for good) and Inuyasha and Kagome in a full blown relationship without hinderance. Yes, me (Kikyo fan/cosplayer) am waiting for her final death. Haven't checked out recent scans so don't know if that occured already. ^^; Yay for final chapter!

$8 for 8 cookies...but they're EVA!

First we had shinigami apple cookies, now we have Evangelion: 1.0 cookies. The 'episode' titles are on the box and the two flavors are custard and chocolate. The cookies look pretty (not really yummy looking...but very pretty) with the new NERV logo on it. Rumors show that eating them will make you part of the Human Instrumentality Project. Needless to say, I want one. ^.^

Bad news 1: Yoshiki injured...

Day-old news, but worth a comment. X-Japan was suppose to start it's world tour starting with Paris. However, due to a worsening medical injury, drummer/songwriter Yoshiki is unable to perform so the tours are suspended. ANN has more to report on that, but the gist of it is that Yoshiki already had a herniated disc prior to the start of the reunion concerts. Doctors advised him to wear a corset/brace during the concerts...but Yoshiki opted not to do that. (Was this why he fainted on stage on the first night? Perhaps not....)

Common comments are blunt statements that Yoshiki should have followed doctors' orders and this would have been avoided. I have nothing to say to that. Yoshiki's health, his life, his choices. Yes, it would have been better/healthier, but it's not our place to reprimand him. We'll leave that to the rest of his band. ^^; Unfortunately, it would seem that his NY September concert is also cancelled. How long does it take for someone to recover from a herniated disc and tendinitis? I'm hoping for a smooth (doesn't need to be fast) and complete recovery. Ganbatte, Yoshiki-san!

Bad news 2: Akiba deaths...

Also day-old news, but might as well comment on it now. Simply put, a man drove a truck into Akihabara on Sunday, 'collided with people' and stabbed many others. 7 confirmed deaths so far with many injured. This random act was reported by the instigator himself by posting messages on cellphone bulletin boards prior and leading up to the incident.

In response to all the statements of 'crime rates in Japan', I have brought this up with my Japanese co-worker. From what we understand, this was not a sign of Japan's increase in crime rate. The going opinion of low crime rate in Japan still holds true. If this was to occur in the US, the killer would be holding a gun and many more people would have been dead. To put it simply, the Japanese media is all over this due to the fact that there is so little of it. An incident of this size would only be in local newspapers, not international news if this ocurred in the US. (Unless it involves schools and kids.) Of course, I'm not minimizing the severity of the issue.

Also, Japanese media has also discovered that the killer was an anime fan among being a 'good worker'. o.O Of course, there wouldn't be any statements of 'Anime is pure EVIL!' on Japanese tv, but the mere mention of it is very interesting.

Irony falls in many ways. The media doesn't know exactly why the guy did what he did, but one of the reasons seems to be that he thought he was fired. Turned out that he wasn't really fired, but he is definitely fired now. >.< (My Japanese co-worker discovered that he has family issues with divorced parents among other personal problems.) Of course, the guy isn't completely coherent to be going on a crime spree, but I wonder what he was thinking when he posted the messages.... Japanator has more on the reports and the cellphone messages. "The worst case is that I'll get caught during(the killing spree)". o.O I don't know if this meant that he was planning to kill himself since he didn't want to get caught...but apparently it wasn't thought out very well.

Japan has a death penalty that is hanging by the gallows. My co-worker confirms that lethal injection is also available, but it all depends on the Minister of Justice. Depending on his views of the death penalty, the guy can have life imprisonment or hanging. O.O The media has already given him the death sentence, but Japan only had about 87 hangings so we don't know if this will be 88....

One last note: kudos to the police officers who apprehended the guy. They did it under 5 minutes.

Good news: Death Note spinoff dates

L: change the WorLd is coming out sooner then I thought! The two dates are June 21st and 24th. I'll be at the convention on the 21st, so it'll be the 24th for me. The time is kinda late though, 9:10pm for a 2hr. movie. (The 21st time is earlier, 7:25pm.) The language will be original Japanese with English sub. Yay! *dances around the room* I don't know if Christine-neechan would want to see it so late at night, but I don't mind. ^^; Will find out from her tomorrow and buy the tickets.

Seems like the TRC:TR group I was supposed to cosplay with scattered for other cosplays. ^^; Since I was only planning on doing Kamui at AnimeNEXT, I am opting out of making this costume. Maybe I will continue, but there is something else that I need to do before continuing my sewing. Something that requires doing my resume and writing an essay....

After talking with my cosplay friend, I got more tips on improving my Tomoyo-hime costume. So I'll be working on the details tomorrow. ^^; Since I already have the necklace and all the fabric, I may not totally abandon my Kamui project...but he will have to wait. ^.^;

one more minor update

The sewing portion of my Tomoyo-hime cosplay is complete and so is the Moon Bell. It isn't the best prop I've made, but at least it looks good from the front and doesn't look crappy from the side. ^^; I can't make wood/metal props so this is acceptable. In a perfect cosplay world, I would redo my hair piece and this prop...but as is, it's good. ^^V

    Tomoyo-Hime - Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
    Process: 100%
    Length of time: about 75 hrs.
    Cost: $81
    Cosplay attire: purple dress w/ white/purple top, white belt with strips headpiece, purple ribbon (for hair,) goddess cloth, white sandals, white socks, Moon Bell
    Prep needed: Bottom part of hair needs to be wavy (results achieved with braids and hairspray)

    Hardest part: The top of the dress where the purple cloth gather together was so hard hold flat. Not to mention the collar of the dress kept on being too low. It's a seemingly simple issue but took most of the time to fix.

    Easiest part: Making the Moon Bell. Twice. ^^;

    Most favorite part: The skirt forms a beautiful circle when I sit down. ^.^

cosplay thoughts and no more hidden links

I post my pics on my con reports so there really isn't a point for me having a hidden cosplay link. I placed it under veracity and it's a noticable link now. ^^; I changed the initial page to host all the info on my cosplays. I update that as I update my blog on the progress of new cosplays. I've been cosplaying since 2005 and am up to my fifth costume. People who cosplay regularly will know that this is nothing. I know someone who made 20 cosplays in two months...fantastic cosplays too. ^^; Looking at all my info, I realize that the more I make costumes, the longer it take for me to finish and there is an increase in the cost. (My Ritsuka cosplay is an exception since I bought most of the stuff...so actually the cost for this cosplay is the highest. ^^; I don't even remember what cost the most...the restraints? lol) My last two cosplays, Asuca Hayashi and Tomoyo-hime required additional work after first wearing them. Not to mention, both are full gowns with yards of fabric to hem. I don't have a serger so I can't properly hem them. ^^; That is probably the main reason behind the increase in time spent on sewing. The increase price is of course due to the higher cost spent on better material. And remaking some of the things. ^^;

I don't mind working on something a bit at a time. Due to my schedule, I wouldn't be able to have marathon sewing days like others anyway. Instead, I will continue to choose costumes that I can concentrate on and finish in a few months time. Yes, I do consider myself a hardcore cosplayer. I'm very meticulous, spending alot of time on detail and accuracy. I choose cosplays based on my body type and characters I love. I'm naturally shy *gasp* so I don't do anything revealing. But maybe someday I will make something sexy...like Sailor Mars. ^^;

Future cosplays? Super Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon Super S. Bondage Ritsuka from the opening of Loveless. Tifa from Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Put together or sew at least one EGL outfit. And maybe something else.... Dream cosplay? White dress Suu with wings from Clover. I know I can never do it, but that is my dream cosplay. ^.^

A cosplay that I will buy since I can't make...will be Zero Kiryu from Vampire Knight. But that is only if Pearl-chan will do Yuki Cross. ^.^

Also, I bought one belt buckle so that I can start working on the belt. (There was only one left which was why I had to special order it.)

    Kamui - Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
    Process: 25%
    Length of time: 0 hrs.
    Cost: $46
    Cosplay attire: black pants, black turtleneck, black shoes or boots, black socks, silver pendant necklace
    Prep needed: hair needed to be pulled up on head before wig can be placed on, binding chest
    Materials that I have: red leathery fabric, deep red fabric, 1 belt buckle, brown, tan, black and white cloth
    Materials needed: 3 small rectangular belt buckles, short black wig

Tomoyo-hime should be done tonight and Kamui sewing starts tomorrow....

Almost done with Tomoyo...

It isn't an exaggeration to say that I spent most of the time sewing on two crescent moons to my costume. >.< I fixed the purple top portion of my outfit and applied fabric paint to the symbols that are the strips connected to my belt. I need to buy another foam board tomorrow since there isn't enough left to make the moon bell so that is what I'm going to do tomorrow. Okaasan is going to help me re-make the collar to match the fabric of the rest of the outfit. I should be done with this costume by tomorrow...planning to anyway.

    Tomoyo-Hime - Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
    Process: 97%
    Length of time: about 69 hrs.
    Cost: $80
    Cosplay attire: purple dress w/ white/purple top, white belt with strips headpiece, purple ribbon (for hair,) goddess cloth, white sandals, white socks
    Prep needed: Bottom part of hair needs to be wavy (results achieved with braids and hairspray)
    Materials that I have: foam board, sculpty, gold paint, ribbons

I'm also planning to buy light brown and tan fabric for the cape. Tomorrow will be very hot, but this must be done by this weekend. ^^; Other stuff are things I ordered and am awaiting the arrival: Kamui's wig, a new wig for Ritsuka and 4 belt buckles. >.< I really hope they arrive in time.

The best fanvid EVER!

How in world did I miss this? Well, my co-worker introduced me Dead Fantasy 1&2 which is vid of some of the major girls from various Final Fantasy games fighting against the major girls of Dead or Alive games. It is total WIN. The CGs are awesome, the moves are fantastic and the attacks are like straight out of the game. You can watch the HD versions on the main site of gametrailers.com. From what I can tell, this isn't from Japan so it's not one of the awesome Nico Nico vids...so I'm more then impressed by this.

When Riona appeared, I was like O.O. Her powers were very wtf since they were soooo powerful that it kinda overshadowed everyone. (Perhaps it's to make up for her being so weak in FFVIII... ^^;) Also, Kairi is in there which is a surprise since she is from Kingdom Hearts and not really the FF-verse. But she is awesome as always. ^.^ My only comment is...where is Paine in all of this? Looking forward to part 3....

filled with love for Loveless AMVs

Being the obsessed Loveless fan that I am, I'm always looking for the best amvs of this wonderful anime. Of course, I came across alot of tearjerkers, but here are two favs that are actually not sad at all (at least not depressing kind of sad.)

    Accidentally in Love ~ The most upbeat Loveless amv ever. It's the first vid that I saw combined manga and anime clips. The transitions are smooth and the result is totally awesome.

    Love Song ~ It's a soft paced vid that's not complicated but deep just the same. It uses words to accentuate moments. This amv might actually make a good intro to the series.

And we have second movie!

Despite all the bad comments and even the upcoming horror known as the 'Hollywood version of DN', Viz felt that the first movie did really well in it's 2 day nationwide run. So well that ANN reports that Viz is putting out the second movie in September! Yay! There is not much info, but I'm assuming that the run will be like the first one: 2 day showing nationwide with advance tickets available. The second movie is The Last Name and it'll continue where the first movie left off. *hugs L* The spinoff film L: change the worLd will be featured at the NY Asian Film Festival in July so I'll catch that before the continuation.

As some people mentioned, this year is just filled with Death Note...which is definitely a good thing.

Totoro never looked so delicious...

A special bakery opened in Japan that sells only one thing: Totoro shaped cream puffs. O.O The store is recognized by Ghibli, but it seems no other info is known. Kawaii! The store is called 'Shirohige no Shou Cream Kobo' and from the pics, it looks just like something Miyazaki would have designed. I wonder if they'll ever sell this at the Ghibli Museum? At the reasonable price of 400 yen, I will definitely buy several and go back for more! *makes note to visit*

midnight hemming...sucks

Finally, I finished hemming the skirt. The upper portion of the top is still incomplete. I should be able to finish sewing that tomorrow. Also, I'll be adding the crescent moons to the sides. To finish off the clothing portion of the cosplay, I will be running over the symbols with black fabric paint so that it will be more clear.

    Tomoyo-Hime - Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
    Process: 95%
    Length of time: about 67 hrs.
    Cost: $80
    Cosplay attire: purple dress w/ white/purple top, white belt with strips headpiece, purple ribbon (for hair,) goddess cloth, white sandals, white socks
    Prep needed: Bottom part of hair needs to be wavy (results achieved with braids and hairspray)
    Materials that I have: foam board, sculpty, gold paint, ribbons

Once the sewing portion of the cosplay is done, I'll start working on re-making the Moon Bell and making the cape for my Kamui cosplay. I won't be able to make the belt until I have the buckles...which I hope to have some time this week. >.< Ganbarre, Rai!

all I need for Loveless

Finally got the chains that I need. I used faux silver necklaces with small rectangular links and placed large clips on them so that I can easily clip them to the restraints. The style of the restraints are more like the manga style then the anime since the anime featured large chains which I could not get. Small is good though...less heavy. ^^;

    Ritsuka - Loveless
    Process: 100%
    Length of time: about 16 hrs.
    Cost: $115
    Cosplay attire: black pants or jeans, black wig, blue jacket with white trim, black cat ears, extra long black tail, wig cap, bandages, black socks, camera, cell phone, messenger bag, black sneakers, medical tape, wrist restraints, collar, chains with clips
    Prep needed: hair needed to be pulled up on head before wig can be placed on, binding chest

I wanted to finish sewing my Tomoyo-hime dress tonight, but my head is kind of achy. >.< I'm going to rest up and sleep early...hopefully. FYI, I might go with a shorter black tail this time. If it looks cute enough. ^^;

Spoiler alert: Only the Ring Finger Knows - He did what?!?

I heard rumors about vol. 4 of Only the Ring Finger Knows novels and Pearl-chan affirmed my fears yesterday. Vol. 4 has been out for some time in Japan and we're happily waiting for it to hit the States. No news/release date of that yet, but of course, the plot/storyline has drifted to our side of the world. I heard that the story will be much sadder then before...though I didn't know how much sadder until now. I don't like posting spoilers, but this was too O.O for me to not comment about.

    spoiler alert: Mutual friend, 801megane has found out that Kazuki left for America for some reason and sent Wataru a letter...with his ring inside. This is the shown at end of vol 4. spoiler end

O.O What? Why?!? That is a horrible way to end the vol. 4. All the other volumes had its ups and downs and the troubles that the lovers go through always end on a good note at the end. But vol. 4 ends with a cliffhanger. Of course, as mentioned in one of my posts last year, news that vol. 5 will be the last book has already been confirmed. But when will vol. 5 come out? Well, the average time between books have been about 1.5-2 years. It's already been one year (to this date) that vol. 4 has been out. So...we're hoping vol. 5 will be out at the end of the year and be out in English by middle of next year. I have already decided to buy vol. 4 as soon as it comes out...but I will join the group of people that will refuse to read it until vol. 5 is out since I will definitely be in tears when I reach the end of vol. 4. >.<

Death Note Live action movie in US...didn't we do this already>?

Seems that the two Death Note movies and the L: change the worLd is not enough for the fandom, Hollywood will be making a Death Note movie of it's own. Not a new one, but a remake of the series. o.O *headdesk* ANN reports that it'll be done by Vertigo Entertainment aka. the people who did the remakes of 'The Grundge' and 'The Ring'. I guess they like to make live action remakes of live actions. >.< Already we have calls of who should be what, the most prominent being some dude named Zac Efron for the role of Kira. At least the pics are funny. ^^;

'coloring'

Saturday was suppose to be 'sewing' day...but I went out instead. ^^; I headed back to Qns to watch 'Sex and the City with P-chan and Pearl-chan. Seems appropriate enough...I started watching the series with P-chan when I was in the college dorms, and 8 years later. we finished the series with the movie. Since it was a movie based off of a tv show, it couldn't really be a standalone film. Although there were intros to the main characters and all, lots of the inside jokes and backstory are implications of the main series: basically, you either know what they're talking about, or you don't. That might add to the whole 'exclusive' feel of the series. Not that anyone needed to worry since it was clear that most of the audience were fans of the show. Lots of cheering and laughter when fannish moments came on. Kinda like when I'm watching a niche anime in the theaters...though 'Sex and the City' is hardly niche.

I enjoyed the movie, full frontal nudity and especially the two guys kissing at the beginning (and of course throughout. ^.^) That moment was hilarious: the gorgeous quartet walks down the street, Samantha-and crew-spots a hot guy walking pass them and everyone follows with their eyes to see...him kiss another hot guy. The seqence with Carrie and her wedding dresses were awesome and my fav would always be that last dress...though I forgot which designer it was from. ^^; Truly, this is a pure P-chan-type movie. Not as snarky as 'Devil Wears Prada', and filled with fashion and humor.

And for my yaoi friends, though there was no guy-on-guy action, I did see male genitalia. ^.^
