Happy Halloween!

I don't usually post a Halloween pic but decide to do so this year. Afterall, how can I not post another cute pic of Ritsuka? ^.^ No plans for tomorrow for various reasons. At least amity and co. are not dragging me to another haunted house. ^^;

Calendars for 2009?

At the request of my co-worker, I have been making two calendars for her: one of them is the Yuujae theme (doujin styled) and another mixed anime theme. Also, been working on reviews among other things. So busy.... ^.^ Not sure if I'm going to make one for myself, but we'll see! Ganbarre!

The subject of Ritsuka's mother's delusional behavior was discussed on the forums months ago. Thought to post it here since the results were pretty interesting. "The Capgras delusion (or Capgras syndrome) is a rare disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that an acquaintance, usually a spouse or other close family member, has been replaced by an identical looking impostor." We always knew that Ritsuka's mother has a mental disorder, now we know what to call it. Fans are wondering if Kouga-sensei had this in mind or was it coincidental. It goes without saying, but it's something only Kouga-sensei will know for sure.

relaxing

For the last two days, I've been sleeping for 12 plus hours each and have been basically glued to my laptop when I'm awake. ^.^ That and watching random anime on tv. *happy sigh* I've also been prepping for a new contest which I will hold tomorrow night. I haven't held a contest in a loooong while so it'll be nice to get into the swing of things again. It was a relaxing weekend and things will get really busy again once monday comes around. For one, I have new stuff to review and have some things to 'finish up' that I won't elaborate on until I get them done. ^.^ Still around guys!

How many CCF alumni does it take to figure out a check?

After work, I went to a reunion dinner with old CCF alumni at a Korean restaurant in midtown. There were many people from the Cantonese, many whom have already graduated before I even got to Stony. But it was fun being with everyone. I got to see some of the people who I hung out with in my first year...the last year before they graduated. One who is married and pregnant. ^.^ 140 was there as well and we chatted up a storm about my plans for Japan. We had so much food and no leftovers (with my help of course. ^.^) Most of us ordered greentea ice cream afterwards. Oishi! Then the check came. *points to subject of post* It took 4 ppl to figure out the check which was actually quite high. Guess it's because it's Korean food in midtown. ^^; 6 of us ended paying by credit card. lol I think we confused the service staff with all counting. ^^;

At the end, one of them drove me back to Stony. But first, we stopped by her mother's place so that she could work on something. I sat in the lobby (since her dogs faint when they see strangers...really!) and played my DS. 140 called so we chatted for a good half hour. Then there was the long drive home with convo topics ranging from our various work experiences and trips elsewhere. It was a loooong day. And a long night! I still have stuff to do! *pulls open manga* Review time!

Hung out with GL after work for shopping and food. Stopped by Strand and bought Red Angel vol. 1 by Tateno Makoto-sensei (since I requested vol. 2 to review.) Ate rice bowl. TOTALLY YUMMY. Suppose to meet up for drinks with friend from England (saw her several weeks ago, this girl loves to travel ^.^) but ended up not being able to reach her after dinner. Got home around...12:30am. Suppose to post review...but too tired. *yawn* Oyasumi!

P.S. Going to work and chatting with Pearl-chan for a long time happened too. ^.^

I was looking at Vampire Knight pics so I can make Pearl-chan a avatar and banner set when I was struck with inspiration for writing. Since I rarely get those anymore (struck with inspiration,) I wrote it out and came up with this. Now that I think of it, it's more suited for the series Zetsuai then Vampire Knight. It's like what Nanjo said to Izumi...something like "Kill me or I will commit the worst atrocity to you."

Due to the insanity of the last few weeks, I missed two major 'holidays' in the Japanime year: 9/28-Soubi's b-day and 10/3-FMA day. O.O *headdesk* Now that things have calmed now somewhat, I'm going to celebrate them both today!

Don't Forget Oct. 3...I forgot.

What I'm looking forward to from Loveless is the novel. Hopefully, it'll be published in the US. Tokyopop does novels too so there is some chance that they'll pick it up. ^^; I especially want to celebrate Soubi-kun's b-day because he has become one of my fav males in Japanime. As established on Valentine's day of this year, Soubi is among the top 3 guys that I want to be with...if only he existed. ^^; His gentle personality and dedication is shown even more in the recent chapters. He has a strong sense of self, but above self, he upholds himself as obedient only to his master. Something not many people know about him: he has 3 piercings. 2 are in his ears...the third...no one knows where. ^_^ (References from limited edition booklet 1.)

Sukidayo, Soubi! *blush* I hope that on his birthday, Ritsuka did something nice for him. ^.^ I can only imagine....

I met Christine-neechan at Forbidden Planet at 5pm. We browsed a bit before we went to Strandbooks for more manga hunting. Christine-neechan bought two books and we stopped by the theater to pick up our tickets before heading to Au Bon Pain for dinner. We arrived in the theater in time to realize that...we were one hour early: arrived at 6:30pm with the thing starting at 7:30pm. Yay for choice seats!

A guy dressed as L starting chatting with us and me and Christine-neechan got into a convo about Harvest Moon. I gave Pearl-chan a call to talk about plushies before deciding to buy snacks. Armed with popcorn and drink, I settled back into my seat...

more L and Light please!

...just in time for an interview by anime podcast! ^.^ I showed off my Death Note (gift from Christine-neechan at Otakon last year ^-^) and even lent it to L (L made off with my Death Note!) who needed to take pics with it. I saw Kuro Usagi whom I just saw two weeks ago at NYAF and we chatted a bit before she settled into her seat. Then the movie started with Misa meeting Rem....

Death Note live action movie 2: The Last Name. The movie was awesome. I didn't have as much scruples about the language as last time (since they were cursing up a storm in the previous movie) and I totally loved L's expressions in the movie. Light was awesome and I totally loved Misa's gaze when she is looking at Light. *puppy eyes* Fav. parts: L and Light playing chess and L appearing at Light's school...with a mask. L did the whole pinching-the-butt-to-get-the-phone bit too. Total lol. I also like the scene where Light and Misa are hugging each other...such a romantic moment...with the two shinigami looking at them. ^^; Scenes of Ryuk and apples are fun...especially when Ryuk is complaining about not getting any when L is in isolation. ^^; The ending was slightly different in that there was no Near or Mello (which made sense since having them in the pic would make this movie too long) and Misa's fate was altered a bit. No spoilers from me! ^.^ BTW, Jealous is soooo cute! (For a midget shinigami. ^.^) There were no scenes of L and Light handcuffed to each other, but any time Light and/or L mentioned about them being together (for survellience or help with the case) the audience would laugh. We know they want to be together. ^____^

The ending was followed by a 'Making of' sequence. The director spoke about how he incorporated alot of his thoughts as a father into the relationship between Light and his father. It truly showed on the screen. In comparison to the first movie, the 2nd movie had L eating tons of Japanese sweets. Although L isn't really Japanese as the director noted. ^.^ In every scene there was something different for him to eat...mochi-kabob! Dipped in sugar syrup...and tea.... o.O *dies from diabetic shock*

My main problem was actually a minor one with the audience and not the movie itself. At certain scenes of the movie, a guy in front would call out comments at the screen. Just one word ones like 'No!' for when Misa was asking Light to fall in love with her or something. It wasn't constant comments that it got too annoying, but I just wish he wouldn't say these comments aloud. Otherwise, it was awesome. I also got interviewed on my way out. It was the usual 'Did you like the movie?' type questions, but I didn't want to stay too long since I needed to go to the restroom...and Christine-neechan went missing after the credits rolled. Turns out, there was an 'issue' with someone/friend/family and she needed to deal with that. (Awww...she missed the making of. Oh wellz...) At least she wasn't kidnapped as I initially feared. ^^;

Death Note movie...part 2!

I'm going to watch the 2nd Death Note movie with Christine-neechan tonight! ^.^ I'm really excited...though also anticipating the sadness since I know what happens at the end. >.< We're gong to be meeting at 5pm which means I need to get off work early. We'll see how that goes!

Been trying to write my next review, but couldn't get it done since I've been watching Gakuen Heaven and the uncensored Junjou Romantica ep. 5. Thing is, ep. 5 didn't have anything to censor so it was just the dvd release. Can't wait for ep. 6 since there is the super sexy scene in the library.... *nosebleeds*

I didn't realize that Electric Hands by Zaou Taishi-sensei was licensed by DMP's Doki Doki line at Yaoi-Con. Other licenses by that were made prior to Yaoi-Con (that I didn't mention before) was Color by Eiki Eiki-sensei and Zaou Taishi-sensei, Millennium Prime Minister by Eiki Eiki-sensei and Happy Boys by Tateno Makoto. ANN has info on the released dates as well as some other releases. Yay! I love Eiki Eiki-sensei! ^-^

ANN has also reported that Tokyopop has licensed Gorgeous Carat L'Esperanza by Higuri You-sensei, The Loudest Whisper: Uwasa no Futari by Matsumoto Temari-sensei and something I bought in Taiwan several years ago: GameXRush by Kusanagi Mizuho-sensei. Her artwork is simple and the storyline is borderline BL. Yay! I can get it in English then! ^.^

'Shibari' is the art of Japanese rope bondage. The theme of the artshow this evening was leather, fetish and S&M. So shibari was part of it. There was some eye candy in some of the pieces, but I mostly enjoyed the sketches over the photographs. What was interesting was listening to GL's friend speak about sketching the models. Apparently, they're so aroused by the end of the session that they...um...finish off. o_O I wish I can sketch bodies too.... ^.^

After watching cute naked guys, we went to Ramen Setagaya near St. Mark's place. Mmmm...traditional ramen is so yummy. ^-^ We went to Pinkberry afterwards and I confirmed that greentea ice cream and strawberries with raspberries is delicious. Want more please! We ended up walking from St. Mark's Place back to Chinatown. It was an enjoyable evening.

I've been playing catch-up to many things this week. Finally posted some reviews and edited my con report with a more 'professional' eye for the same review site. It's not complete yet since I want to get some feedback from my editor and then I'll post up day 2 and 3 tomorrow or by sunday night.

this week 411

I went out to eat with P-chan and Pearl-chan after leaving work early on wednesday since I was too tired to function coherently. We had lunch in Chinatown at a nice Japanese shabu shabu place...though we didn't have shabu shabu. Pearl-chan felt ill afterwards and we rested at P-chan's grandmother's place before heading back home.

Today, I'm heading into the city since there is an artshow that GL invited me to. It's more casual then the previous art exhibition at the Met (which was really more then a networking occasion) but I'm still going in business casual...which is what I normally wear anyway. ^^; I'll be sleeping over her apartment (again since the con) since I'm attending a hotpot dinner with my co-workers. I'm horrible at picking out vegetables, but I'm helping with carrying them, washing and cutting. ^.^ I'm helpful too!

I also opened a store online to help 801megane rid some of her yaoi magazines and sell some of the manga I picked up (for free mostly. ^^;) Every few days I will post up my unsold items again to bring my 'store' back to the front page, but the it is garagesalejapan comm on lj. Quite useful for looking for things! ^.^ I'll be seeing 801megane later today to pick up more of the 'merchandise'...or 'junk' as she likes to call them. So busy!

I thought they were for real...but then I realized they chose some pretty good cosplays at the con. Opst...can't really say it like that since I'm on it at 2:24 timestamp. ^^; You guys decide. Apparently I look like a guy who had a period.... lol

the ending of a series

As many fans may know, Code Geass ended last sunday. Pearl-chan called me on monday to give me the 411 on this...and I figured out the ending without watching it. It was inevitable and everyone was expecting it. Me: He died right? He killed him right? He cried after killing him right? Inevitable as it was, it was still an awesome ending.

Rai fell into a hole...

This past week has been utter chaos at work. I've been so tired that typing all this up was too much work then fun so I did a little a bit each day. Started typing it up 4 days ago and now I'm finished. ^^; It certainly has been my longest delay but nothing much happened except the usual lack of sleep. I hope to get back into the swing of things now that the report is up and I can work on other things.

We have yaoi licenses!

The weekend that we have NYAF, Yaoi-Con was happening on the west coast. Of course, tons of licenses were announced. 801 Media got alot of stuff, my favs being Ze by Shimizu Yuki-sensei and Love Skit by Honjyo Rie-sensei. DMP's June Manga line will be getting CUT by Toko Kawai-sensei, Ludwig by Higuri You and Tateno Makoto's How to Capture a Martini. Yay for Pearl-chan and me! Some additional good news with June is that some licenses that were under Biblos have finally been cleared with Libre so they'll be released as well. ^.^ Go Comi! has licensed Get the Moon and Bran Doll by Takagi Ryou-sensei. Mmm...smexy! Deux Press has Take Me To Heaven by Yamato Nase-sensei (I love that title!) and Naughty but Nice by Koujima Naduki-sensei. Of course, these were not all that were announced, just the ones I'm interested in. ^.^ Check out giapet.net for all the licenses.
