Shakuna-Khar Song -1
|
The tradition itself defines lot of things , undocumented
, unnoticed. When we talk of transferring "sanskars" we mean that we are transferring the knowledge , the experience , the culture , the principals , "Reeti Riwaj" .We learn a lot through experience and this experience shows us the way on which we will go in future .Naturally with the waves of time something gets added to this but the basic essence remains the same . Same thing is true for the most of the folk songs of any region .In kumaun there is a concept of "Gidar". "Gidar" is the term used for the lady(ies) who know(s) most of the songs related to various occasion . Generally older ladies with good knowledge of songs and good singing voice come in this category . In any occasion (kam-kaj) one must call "Gidar" to start the
function/process . They start singing and other ladies sing with them . This tradition goes on .New ladies take the place of older one in due course of time .
"Shakunaakhar" is a type of songs . If we see its name, it comprises of two words "Shakun" + "Aakhar" . "Shakun" stands for "Shagun" (auspicious) and "Aakhar" stands for "Akshyar"(words). So sakhunaakhar means "sagun key akshyar" (auspicious words). The songs which should be sung in auspicious functions.... Basically ritualistic songs sung during various ceremonies like birth, child naming (Nam-kand),"Anna Prashan"(Pashini). weddings and others, are known as Shakunakhar or Phaag songs. Just like the 'Shagun' or auspicious occasion songs like 'Sohar', 'Banna', 'Banni' sung in the other regions of the country these are sung mostly by a group of women in an informal setting. There are different songs for different occasions .if you know the some of them I will request you to please send .There is a strong influence of Awadhi and Braji songs on some of the Shakunakhar songs of Kumaon.
Now the song sent by Manish (with a little bit modification and essence)
shakunade, shakunade kajaye aati neeka, shakuna bol /

bahurani aai vaanti putravaanti hoi /
soi phool molvaant ( The Names of Male Memebers of the home like bhuwan chandra ghairey ..manish chandra gherey etc.)
Jeeva janam aadhyaa aamru hoi /
Soi paat paairirain (The Names of Females members of the Home like bhuwana sundari, manisha sundari... etc.)
aai vaanti, putravaanti hooi
*** The essence
This song is the very first song of any function . It makes the ground for other songs . It has the influence of awadhee ."Kajey aati neekey "..here neekey is a awadhi word which means good.
like "tani neek lagla " means "thoda achha laga" ...
It says..... (its not the exact translation..but the essence ("bhav")
is there )
'shubh bol , Shubh bol ..kyonki aaj kaphi achha/shubh karya ho raha hai , chaaron aur sab kuchh rang biranga hai , shubh kalash bharey huey hain ..jinmain kamal key phool tair rahey hain.Sankh dhwani ho rahi hai..dhol majeerey baj rahey hain..hum awaahan kartey hain ganesh , Ram ,Laxman aur bhi sarey dewatao ka ..ki wo hum ko aashirwad dain ..ghar key sarey log ..bhuwan ....etc jeetey rahey....unki patniya bhuwana ...etc sukhi rahey aur putra-watee hon.."
Here the names of male members come fully ..means exact name like bhuwan ,manish, kamal ..but when the turn of female members come then it is called out by husband's name like Bhuwan's wife becomes bhuwana sundaree, manish's wife becomes manisha sundaree ,Kamal's wife becomes kamala sundaree etc...and I think the names of unmarried girls do not come in this
