Edmonton 2001

Finally, about almost a year later, I have pictures from my spring trip to Edmonton, Alberta. If you don't remember what I did  last May, then visit Edmonton, Alberta--Capital of Wild Rose Country to refresh your memory.

One Friday, I had the day off from work and I wanted to go just outside of Edmonton to explore. That's when I went to the Devonian Botanical Gardens in Devon.

The gardens are quite large and there are a variety of smaller gardens inside of it.

Shown here is a group of elementary school kids who are likely on a field trip to learn about animals, insects and plants. I think they were trying to catch a frog or something.

There are more kids gathering near a tree.  The tour guide must be explaining something about nature to them.

It reminds of my younger days when we used to go out to different places to see and learn.

One of things Alberta is famous for is their energy resources, especially oil.  The machine shown in the picture is a replica of an oil well pump.  Pumps like these can be seen across the province.

The Botanical Gardens actually used to be an oil well. So that's why they have this pump in the middle of a garden.
