Arietta Wismer, Secretary
Born and raised in New Jersey, except for two or three years living in Massachusetts as a young child.
Have always lived in this area (Trenton, Ewing, Montgomery). Have attended a number of colleges and universities to secure degrees as Medical Secretary, Special Education Teacher, Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, Supervisory certification, and Registered Nurse. Now working as a Pet Sitter/Walker after retiring from the position of Supervisor of Special Education at Bridgewater Raritan School District and then Pediatric Nurse at Princeton Nassau Pediatrics. Still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. Spent 20 years as Coach for Somerset County's Special Olympics Swim Team. Swim team members participated in local, national and international competition. Over the years have been involved in sports including basketball team in College, local softball league, racquet ball league, canoeing, kayaking, and now paddling with the Machestic Dragons. Love animals and have 2 Irish Setters who are registered therapy dogs and who visit the Franklin Care Nursing Home to help cheer up the clients. Volunteer as a delivery person for Meals On Wheels. Was first diagnosed with breast cancer on September 11, 2001. A memorable day for me for more than one reason. After treatment, and a few surgeries, am doing well now. I love to be involved in art activities, presently taking classes in oil and acrylic painting, drawing, graphic design. Have been involved in the Machestic Dragons Dragon Boat Team since 2006 and have participated in the races here in the northeastern USA, Canada, and Australia. The friendships I have made through the team have helped me get through the uncertainty of diagnosis and treatment. The physical exercise has been wonderful for keeping the old body in shape. Don't know what I would do without knowing that we will be getting together and back on the water each spring.
