Machestic's Field of Women
Field of Women, a project of the Machestic Dragons, features Pink Woman silhouettes representing women with breast cancer to dramatically convey the prevalence of this disease.
The Field of Women is modeled on the breast cancer awareness project of the Breast Cancer Network of Australia, www.bcna.org.au. Members of the Machestic Dragons competing in the 2007 International Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Festival in Australia were so moved by this display that they wanted to share the experience in the United States.
We are offering families and friends affected by breast cancer the opportunity to honor or memorialize their loved ones by sponsoring a Pink Woman silhouette for $20 each. As a sponsor, you may have your personal message attached to a silhouette and you will receive an acknowledgement of your message. Your loved ones will be forever remembered in all future displays of our Field of Women.
The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, estimates that there will be 200,000 new cases of breast cancer in the United States with 6,300 in New Jersey. Approximately 1% of breast cancers occur in men. Each of the 525 silhouettes in our display represents 12 new cases of breast cancer this year in New Jersey. But on a larger scale the ACS report tells that more than two million women are living with breast cancer, so each silhouette in our Field of Women tells the stories of 4,000 women.
As you dedicate a Pink Woman silhouette to someone you love, you are also helping this visual display carry the message of many times more persons who have faced breast cancer.
Your Donations
Field of Women donations will support LIGA Flying Doctors of Mercy who serve the indigenous peoples in remote areas of Mexico. Some of our oncology doctors in central New Jersey donate their time to providing medical services to this population in need. More information about LIGA can be found at www.ligainternational.org

 You are invited to make an emotional and very sacred engagement to loved ones through the messages placed on the silhouettes. Each year more messages will be added. These messages of hope, encouragement, and remembrance are powerful reminders of the personal impact of breast cancer and will become the cornerstone of the Machestic Dragons' Field of Women.
