first Margaret Hunter, and second Jane Alexanderer and lived on Little Kilmory
farm, Bute. Their daughter Jane married Archibald Martin and lived on Largizean
farm, Bute. Magaret married Niel McTaggart, show maker and lived on Culevin
farm, Bute, later coming to Springfield, Illinois, U. S. A.
Their
son Alexander married Jeanette Carswell and lived near Pawnee, Illinois.
Their son Duncan married Mary Carswell and lived near Pawnee, Illinois. Their
son Robert (twin of Duncan) married Jane Carswell and lived near Pawnee, Illinois.
Mary married Robert Thomas and lived on Ascog farm, Bute, later moving to
Rothesay, Bute. Their daughter Mary married john Mackintosh, baker, and lived
in Rothesay, Bute. Their daughter Jean married David Black, banker, and lived
in Cambuslang, Scotland. Their daughter Rebecca married a stationer and lived
in Glasgow, Scotland. Their daughter Anne married Daniel Fife, of the firm
of Fife Bros., ship builders, and lived in Rothesay, Ardrishaig and Paisley,
Scotland. Alexander married Agnes Cathcart Ferguson, and lived on Thoriblaren
farm in Aryleshire and in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland.
Their son Alexander came to Springfield, Illinois, U. S. A., married Marion
Carswell and lived in Breckenridge and Owaneco, Illinois, and in Harlan and
Smith Center, Kansas. Their son John married Elizabeth McNicol and lived
in Rothesay, Haddington, and Glasgow, Scotland. He was a baker and patented
what is known as Bermaline bread organzed Montgomery & Co., Ltd., to manufacture
this bread and sold his patent all over Scotland, England, Wales and Canada.
Their daughter Rebecca married Thomas Hogg, stationer and lived in Rothesay,
Bute. Their son Hugh married Jessie Maitland and lived in Rothesay, Bute,
later going to, Picto, Novia Scotia. He was a baker. Their daughter
Jenet died in infancy. Their son William Barr married first Margaret Sterling
and lived in Rothesay, Bute; New York City, U. S. A., and Manchester, England.
Second he married a widow in Manchester, England. He was a baker and traveled
for Montgomeries & Co., Ltd. Their daughter Annie married Thomas McAlpin,
an engineer and lived on the Island of Ceylon and in Rothesay and Wishaw,
Scotland. Their daughter Agnes married Victor Lamont, stationer, and lived
in Rothesay, and Wishaw, Scotland. William married Jean Stevenson and
lived on Auchenterre farm, Bute.
Their
son Alexander married Jane Dickie and lived on Auchenterre farm, Bute.
Their son Thomas died
in his youth. Their daughter Jenet died in her youth. Their daughter
Rebecca married William Dickie and lived on Crauslagvourity farm, Bute. Their
daughter Jean married Thomas Murry and lived in Rothesay, Bute.
Their daughter, Elizabeth, married Archibald Robertson and lived on Birgidale
Knock farm, Bute. Their daughter, Mary, married James Duncan and lived on
Birgidale Knock farm, later moving to England and Ireland, where he was in
the employ of the Agricultural Department of the government.
