SYNOPSIS:
Kerry and Dar are back with a new enemy in the workplace, and many a commitment issue to settle between them.

NANCY:
Again, like with Tropical Storm, I thought Hurricane Watch was a brilliant character study and motored along for the first 6-7 chapters, and then suddenly, inexplicably, lost the wind out of its sails. Missy Good seemed to have a much better idea of the character of Dar, with many an intriguing passage on the effect of her new found happiness on her likely performance in the boardroom. There were a few brilliant scenes of absolute disaster which showed nicely Dar's ability to handle any challenge (with the help of her trusty sidekick of course - Hi Ewok!), although the believability factor went off the scale at times.

The villain of the piece was unfortunately cartoonish. If Dar and Kerry are so good at what they do, why not give them a villain worth fighting? The occasional appearances by Dar's ex lovers are more exciting than all the scenes of the villain put together.

The dialogue in this story had me in stitches sometimes, it was so on the mark. If the stories involving this pair (and knowing Missy Good like we do we KNOW there'll be more!) keep getting better and better, then we should be in for a long, interesting ride. This story was far better and more consistent than the first, and one of the few sequels out there (including a lot of Missy Good's earlier Gen-1 work) that actually builds on and improves the original.

If you're criticising Missy Good's Gen-1 work, Nancy, you're on your own.

rating:
-------------
NANCY:
Big thumbs up from me, but again I'm forced to give two sets of ratings. The first two thirds of the story rates a full 10 out of 10 from me, but the last third, filled with schmaltz and repetitions of conclusions the characters have already come to time after time after time, sank to a 7.5.

EWOK: (from the sweat hut)
9 out of 10.
