SYNOPSIS:
Xena/Highlander crossover set in modern day Portland. After losing Gabrielle to old age centuries before the Immortal Xena sees the bard by chance in the modern day and
becomes obsessed with finding her soulmate again.

NANCY:
I've got two things to say about this story.
1. Xena living forever. I can deal with that!
2. Xena in a tank top, shorts and roller blades:-) Yummmmmmm:)

I was initially dubious about the thought of this crossover, but it really works. There can be only one, and that concept suits Xena fine! Of course, as an immortal who has to decapitate her rivals to survive she is a hunted serial killer, which is amusing since she's also a private eye who seems to get the majority of her information from knowing all the police in Portland! It's a nice twist.

This story has spawned a whole series which I haven't yet read, but if the other writers do the arc the same justice as Redhawk does then I'm looking forward to reading all the different chapters. The website also has a timeline to keep the stories straight, and anyone wanting to write in the series has to stick to this timeline. This is a really great idea, because if the writers aren't confused then the readers have half a chance of following along!

If there were spelling and grammar errors I barely noticed. Nothing stood out to ruin the flow of the story. The story is dialogue heavy instead of being weighed down with lengthy descriptive passages. Obeys the standard rule that simplicity is often the most effective way of getting a point across.

Not strictly uber, according to Lunacy's definition, it is still set in modern day, and the characters face modern day situations, so it works as uber for me.

My only complaint would be that Xena has become awfully nice in her old age, but when it counts she's still the same magnificent shitkicker of old. Action, adventure and not-too-icky romance, this story is a standout. But hey, if you didn't like the Highlander concept in the first place this will probably bore you silly.

9 out of 10, I can even forgive the fact that there's a character called Tara.
