Nancy Amazon the nano series

SYNOPSIS:
Grace Wilson, a young ambitious doctor, becomes involved with ex-con and brilliant nanotech Dana Papadopolis. Together they attempt to find out who it is who wants Dana either in back in prison or dead, and why.

NANCY:
OK, so the synopsis does NOT do this story justice, but when stories get to be this long and develop so many twists and turns it is impossible to summarise them. This story has interesting, witty, intelligent characters, with a plot so twisted yet so logical that it's a pleasure to go along for the ride, as anyone who is eagerly awaiting the next instalments (like me!) will attest.

In my opinion, stories that are set just slightly into the future, in a time that we will all most likely see in our own lifetimes, are more difficult to write than ones that deal with the fantastical future. They're tricky because it is so easy to slip into the absurd, the implausible, but this writer handles the challenge with style.

EWOK:
I liked "Nano" up till about Chapter 5, and then it started convoluting itself to death. Bored now.

NANCY:
You've just got no stamina, Ewok.

EWOK:
*raising an eyebrow*

NANCY:
I've been reading more of this story and as it goes further along it gets more and more sci-fi and technical, so people with little interest in the tech details (probably the same people who refer to the tech-speak on Star Trek as "filler":) might get a little bored here. But there's a fair spattering of smutty details as well to keep people entertained!

EWOK:
We need to calibrate the [tech] [tech] on the [tech]. But first, a gratuitous sex scene...

NANCY:
Personally, I love Grace and Dana, I care about what happens to them, and I even care about what happens to the dog! (As opposed to wanting the dog dead as I have in other fanfics where a dog has been introduced!) This story has all the elements that make up your typical fanfic story, but they are so neatly woven into the plot that they don't stand out as clunky references. It remains to be seen if the writer can sustain this level right to the end of the novel.

rating:
-------------
NANCY:
9 out of 10 so far, and I can't see the writer losing her touch towards the end, but we shall just have to wait and see.

EWOK:
Well, it was good. 8/10 for Chapters 1-5.
