The dental department has been fascia prima of the Pak Field Level II Hospital 1 and rendering quality dental care services to the UNMIL troops and Liberians, indiscriminately since its initiation. This has been in addition to the extra curricular contribution of the department in Health Education regarding Dental diseases and disorders and invoking awareness for healthy oro- dental routine among UNMIL troops.

Dental Surgeon: Major Abdul Rehman; born on 15 March 1965 at Kohat. He is a graduate of Khyber Medical College Peshawar in 1989. He got commission in Pak Army on 29 January 1990 and rendering his services in his present rank since 22 November 1995. He has completed 2 years grading course in Dental Prosthetics on 3 January 2001 from Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute of Pakistan. He has passed the FCPS I during the mission.

Capabilities Dental Department

a. Providing ordinary and emergency dental treatment to ten patients per day, including minor oral surgical procedures, fillings, endodontic and periodontal treatment.

b. Management of the dental emergencies and to provide treatment ot outdoor patients.

c. Basic diagnosis of Oral and Dental Diseases.

d. Restoration of Carious Lesions.

e. Treatment of the common periodontal problems.

f. Carry out minor oral surgical procedures.

g. Management of Maxillofacial injures.

h. Provision of Dental X-Ray facilities.

Health Awareness and Health Education

a. Lectures delivered on oral / dental hygiene to troops of all units in contingent to invoke desired level of oro-dental hygiene, which is essential for better health and consequently combat efficiency.

b. In order to raise the health conscious level among troops with particular emphasis on oro-dental diseases and to identify the problem at the early stages dental inspection of maximum available troops was carried out. Total 1238 personals including civilians were inspected in the process and later provided with best dental care and treatment in Liberia, accordingly.

c. Clinical Pathological Conference – oral and dental hygiene.
