SHOVE YOUR DRESS CODE
words & music by Thom Parrott

It sits inside of the clubs front door,
Saying what you can and can't wear on the floor.
It's got a big wooden frame and its covered with glass.
It's got a full guarantee to be a pain in the ass.
You can shove your dress code. Shove your dress code.
You can shove your dress code clear on out of sight.

You can't wear no sneakers. Can't wear no chains.
You can't wear no jeans unless they got a big name.
No Harley buckles. No black tee shirts.
No tears. No patches. No slogans. No dirt.
You can shove your dress code. Shove your dress code.
You can shove your dress code clear on out of sight.

We understand you've got a business to run,
But if you weren't so tense you'd have a lot more fun.
Back in the Sixties we read you our rights,
But if you need another lesson, we're ready to fight, and
You can shove your dress code. Shove your dress code.
You can shove your dress code clear on out of sight.

STANDING IN THE RAIN
words & music by Thom Parrott

I never had much luck with women.
Seems I've been lonely all my life,
Tho I've had some lovin from time to time,
And for a while I even had a wife.

But today seems just so much like yesterday.
Tomorrow holds no promise but the same.
Tonight I'm gonna be alone again
And I feel like I'm standing in the rain.

I miss the days when I was younger,
Young enough I still could feel the pain.
Now I only feel a bitter aching,
And I wonder if I'll ever love again.

But today seems just so much like yesterday.
Tomorrow holds no promise but the same.
Tonight I'm gonna be alone again
And I feel like I'm standing in the rain.

STEEL STRING QUEEN
words & music by Thom Parrott
Copyright © 1982 by Thom Parrott, BMI

If home is where the heart is, the stage is home to me
And you who listen to my songs become my family
But when the evenings over and everybody leaves
I have to turn my back upon what feels like home to me.

So if you catch me looking lonely, girl, I'm sorry
Please believe its nothing that you lack
If you catch me looking lonely, girl, I'm sorry
But the need to sing and my steel string queen will always call me back.

If lovers are the ones who take you just the way you are
Then I have never known a love as true as my guitar
She has the patience of a saint, the stature of a queen
And what my fingers give to her, her strings return to me.

So if you catch me looking lonely, girl, I'm sorry
Please believe its nothing that you lack
If you catch me looking lonely, girl, I'm sorry
But the need to sing and my steel string queen will always call me back.

SUNFLOWER
words & music by Thom Parrott

I woke up this morning, thanked my God for another day.
I woke up this morning, thanked my God for another day.
The sun is shining, good times are here to stay.

Once was a time that life was bringing me down.
There once was a time just living was a bringing me down.
Then I discovered I was giving me the run around.

Hooray, hooray, my God's fulfilling me.
Hooray, hooray, my God's fulfilling me.
Got to tell you, good people, I'm as happy as a man can be.

If you feel so bad you just can't keep from crying.
If you feel so bad you just can't keep from crying.
You can change your clothes, you can damn sure change your mind.

Sunflower, sunflower keeps the sunlight in her eyes.
Sunflower, sunflower keeps the sunlight in her eyes.
Thru the long, dark night, she turns her face to where the sun will rise.

SWEAT WAS IN OUR KISSES
words & music by Thom Parrott
Copyright © 1982 by Thom Parrott, BMI

Sweat was in our kisses, love was in our eyes
And Bonnie Bluhm was singing from the heart.
We were laughing. We were dancing. We were leaping up and down,
And I kept wishing we would never part.

The doorman didn't know you, how could he be so blind.
Then he remembered we were dancing close and slow.
And we danced every song they played on our feet or in our hearts,
Then you whispered to me "Please let's go."

We went back to my place and lay down for a while.
Then I got the call to write a song.
You were laying, sleeping. I was playing my guitar.
And the words were coming quick and strong.

When I take you home again and watch you walk inside,
I wonder what we have to do that for.
But we've agreed to take it slow and we've agreed that's wise,
And we can't be seperated by the closing of a door.

We laugh at all the same things, we refuse to fuss and fight,
We move together real good when we dance.
We're easy in our friendship, we're easy in our love,
And it would be so easy, girl, to take the chance....

Sweat was in our kisses, love was in our eyes
And Bonnie Bluhm was singing from the heart.
We were laughing. We were dancing. We were leaping up and down,
And I kept wishing we would never part.
