The Ghostbusters RPG was the beginning of West End Games' D6 system; further developed and used in Star Wars, Men in Black, and other games. It uses a dice pool system with a special die called a ghost die. Multiple dice are rolled and compared to a GM-chosen difficulty level. There are 4 traits that all characters have in common (Brains, Cool, Moves, and Muscle), and 4 freeform talents -- one for each trait. Special points, Brownie Points, are used to give greater chances at performing difficult actions, reduce damage during combat, and as a simple experience system to improve traits and talents. Here is a summary of the original Ghostbusters rules (18k, 4 pages) in Adobe Acrobat format so that you too can play in the Ghostbusters Universe. It is not the entire game, which I highly recommend you find and buy, but just enough information to play. This game is the intellectual property of West End Games and this site is not intended as a challenge to the trademarks or copyrights held by West End Games. I have bought almost all of my Ghostbusters RPG material on Ebay. If you would like to buy the game yourself but cannot find a copy, Search Ebay for Ghostbusters RPG stuff. You can often find the original game and modules at very good prices.
