36 "Klaus is Japanese because the kanji is 倉臼"
"Kurausu wa Kurausu to Kakuite Nihonjin" (クラウスは倉臼と書いて日本人)

Klaus is seen in a farm in Brazil, taking a rest just outside his wooden house. He said that he is retired but soon take it back, realizing that he want to be the butler of the Sanzen'in family forever. But someone mention that he can no longer serve the family anymore since he is old. The one who said it happens to be Tama in a suit with a cigar on his mouth. He said that the family has already found a replacement butler for Nagi and have no use for him anymore. He does not believe it and think that Hayate wouldn't be able to replace him at all. He demand that he return to Japan now but Tama aggressively stopped him. Just then, Klaus find himself waking up in his room with Tama lying above him sleeping. He realize that he must be dreaming, thinking that Tama cannot speak. He notice that there is a poster recruiting people who wants to be owners of the coffee bean plantation in Brazil. Tama immediately woke up looking rather sly.

After he woke up, Klaus did his usual morning routine that is to iron the newspaper for Nagi. He later delivered the ironed newspaper to Nagi to read while telling her about the dream he had becoming a owner of the coffee bean plantation in Brazil. Nagi thought that he wants to retire and comment that she would allow him to have his wish. Klaus is in shock and immediately tell her that he has no intention of retiring. But Nagi said it is alright. She believed that dreams are visions of one's hidden desires and think that Klaus really want to retire deep down. But he refused to believe it, saying that the Sanzen'in family cannot do with him. However, Nagi said that there is Hayate and Maria around so it wouldn't be a problem. Besides, there is something they can do which he cannot anymore. Klaus is stunned once again.

After the conversation with Nagi, Klaus is seen depressed at one side by Hayate who is later joined by Maria. She realize that Klaus has generated a protective field around himself again. Hayate wonder what has happened to Klaus as he walk away with continuous depression. Maria decide to ask Nagi who told the two of them the truth. They were stunned to hear that, telling Nagi that she shouldn't do that to Klaus since he will take it seriously. Nagi replied that Klaus wouldn't do that as Hayate understand that Nagi do like Klaus after all. Maria decided upon herself to go cheer Klaus up and hopefully persuade him not to retire. When she did, she find him in his room crying. Klaus told her that he will be resigning from his position as Chief Butler and go to Brazil soon. Maria tries to convince him not to take Nagi's words seriously. But when he insist on believing Nagi, Maria attempt to just not bother him anymore. When she said that and decide to leave, Klaus attempt to stop her and tell her that he will prove his worth and show Nagi that he is much better than Hayate as a Footman. Maria cannot believe what he has just said. Meanwhile, Tama is seen outside the room looking in and feeling unhappy that he is so close to going to Brazil himself. And the competition began. Hayate does not really want to do it but Klaus insisted. He said that Hayate has one fatal flaw as a butler. Nagi and Maria made their comments about how cute he look when he cross dress. Klaus then tell him that butlers are supposed to be their master's shadow. Yet he has the attitude of a master himself. Nagi and Maria does not blame him for that since he is really the main character (of this anime). Nevertheless, Klaus is going to show how much better he is as a butler than Hayate in the next 24 hours. And if he lose, he will leave the Sanzen'in family with immediate effect. Everyone is stunned by the results of this competition. Although stunned, Hayate himself is determined to treat this competition this seriously so as to not be rude to Klaus.

And thus the first round started. Klaus ask Hayate firstly what is the most necessary attribute as a butler. Hayate replied giving the wrong answers. Klaus then tell him that it is the inspiration to read ahead of the master and understand what he wants at this time and place. Klaus then reveal what the master wants every morning. That is tea for Nagi. Hayate said that it is taken care of. Hayate merely use instant teabag to make tea for Nagi. Klaus did not agree with him and said that it is very important to make tea. If he did not know the proper way to do so, Klaus said that he cannot call himself a butler. But Hayate answer back saying that he is using teabags that were used by English Royal Palace. Hayate then ask Nagi what she wants to add into her tea. When lemon is said to be one of the choice, Klaus complained once more, saying that there is no such thing as lemon tea in England. Only milk tea existed. But Nagi prefer drinking lemon tea right now. Klaus is astounded. Nagi has to be reminded by Maria to go easy on Klaus who doesn't seem to be winning the competition at all. He has become depressed again.

Nagi is seen going to school with Hayate. He ask why she wants to do it with Nagi replying that she cannot fool around with Klaus too much. She said that she and Klaus has known each other for a long time and it is fun fooling around with him. As they walk past a fast-food restaurant, Klaus, pretending to be the store's mascot hear it and is shocked. Just then, Ayumu is seen coming out of the restaurant, seemingly enjoying what she has brought. Without warning, she then saw the mascot chasing after Nagi and Hayate. She wonder if the restaurant is actually low on chicken stock right now?! During class, Nagi is glad that Klaus did not chase them all the way to school. Yukiji seem to see them talking and decide to throw a chalk at them. Just then, a silver fork intercepted the chalk. Everyone is stunned by that and soon realize who did it. It is Klaus hanging from the ceiling of the classroom. He came down just as Yukiji started to think about wine or vintage wine and decide to attack him with her chalks. But Klaus manages to block them and escape the classroom. Yukiji followed, trying to get her share of the vintage wine from him. Hayate and Nagi can only wonder what has transpired here.

Meanwhile, the Student Council trio is seen relaxing under some shelter, saying how great it is to have skipped classes. Miki mention that it would be even better if there is a butler helping them make some tea. At the same time, Yukiji delivered a thunderous blow onto Klaus. However, he uses Dummy no jitsu to help him evade the attack. Just as he is about to make his escape once more, he seems to have strained his back and fall from the tree he climbed. That is seen by the Student Council Trio. Later, Klaus is seen giving the Trio some cake and tea as a gift for saving his life. All three were shocked and thanked Klaus for that. Just then, Yukiji enter the room and demanded that she have some as well. All of them has no idea what she mean. She said that Klaus has some vintage wine with him. Hinagiku enter the scene and shouted at her sister not to bully the elderly. Klaus is hurt by her comments. Klaus is seen leaving with his head down depressed once more.

Hayate and Nagi were seen looking for Klaus. They found him meeting Himuro coincidentally. Himuro greet him as the legendary butler of the Sanzen'in family while Klaus recognized him as the Oukouchi family butler. Taiga is still seen tossing cherry blossom at his butler. When Klaus hear Himuro address Taiga by name casually, he did not like it since it is the pride of the butler to be able to address one's master by name. Taiga immediately ask Himuro if this is true. Himuro simply tell him to continue the tossing of cherry blossom. Himuro then address Klaus as old, feeling sad that the legend has become like this. He then took away his necktie and said that he wouldn't be able to defend his master if he cannot avoid that. He suggest him to retire but that is what Klaus is thinking. He said that a butler is just the shadow of his master and has no private life. Once he is of no use to the master, he will just disappear without a trace. This lead Hayate and Nagi to think that Klaus is really deciding to retire. That made Nagi very worried.

Back at the mansion, Hayate ask Maria if there is no other choice to stop Klaus from retiring. Maria has one but will require Hayate's help. Hayate will regret doing this. Klaus is seen sitting on the bench, watching the sunset and the mansion he spent years serving in. It seems to him that there is no other choice but to retire since he is no use to Nagi anymore. Just then, he hear a female voice. He suddenly saw an goddess flying down from the sky which is actually acted out by Hayate with ropes tied behind him to make him fly. Maria, who is operating the smoke generating machine, wondered what a genius she is. Klaus remember the goddess and wonder what her name is. Hayate almost said his own name and decide on Hermione. Klaus seems to buy it while Hermione introduce herself to him. She is the goddess that resides in Lake Sanzen'in who does not want to see Klaus retire. But Klaus did not believe her with him being so old that all his hair have turned white right now. Hermione just say that it is not white but romantic grey. But still, Klaus said that his shoulders have been getting stiff and he can no longer use them effectively anymore. But Hermione said that a simple massage will do the trick. She then came down and started massaging Klaus' shoulders. It soon go down to his back with Hayate wondering when he is going to be convinced not to retire anymore. Just then, Tama saw this and remember Hermione as well, wasting no time to pounce on her. Klaus then thought that all is just a dream and realize that he is really old to be having hallucinations right now.

Tama is later seen knocked unconscious by Hayate with him noticing the poster recruiting owners of coffee bean plantations. He then saw the female white tiger in the poster and realize that it is all Tama's plan to lure Klaus to retire and then come with him to Brazil and meet with this female white tiger. Hayate just want to tell him one thing. There is no such thing as a tiger living in Brazil and then kicked the hell out of him. Hayate then thought of telling Klaus that everything is Tama's fault but soon realize that tigers don't speak at all. During the night, Klaus is seen walking out of the gates of the mansion. He took a look at the mansion again, remembering when he first met Nagi and how she has grown to a young girl right now. As he is doing that, he notice Hayate calling him. He ask Hayate not to convince him to stay anymore just as Nagi arrive calling for Hayate. She said that she cannot read the newspapers properly due to it being drenched in the morning dew. Klaus then realize that there is still something he can do and Hayate can't that is to iron the newspapers every morning. Nagi proclaim that Klaus wins the competition. With that, Klaus stayed and went to iron the newspapers as usual. Hayate thank Nagi for finally managing to persuade Klaus to stay. She just did not want to be the one who kicked him out since he is part of the Sanzen'in family after all. Hayate is happy to hear that.

37 "I Want to Go Back to Being a Normal Girl, but Please Buy My Character Song"
"Futsū no Onna no Ko ni Modoritai, demo Kyarason wa Katte ne" (普通の女の子に戻りたい、でもキャラソンは買ってね)

Nagi is seen waking up in a unfamiliar territory. She wonders where she is until Ayumu came into the room and is relieved to see her awake. It is only then Nagi realize that she has spent a night at Ayumu's home. She decides to go back to sleep but Ayumu did not allow her to, attempting to tickle her out of her bed.

The scene changes to the day before just now. Nagi screamed for Hayate with her butler wondering what has happened. Nagi proceed to ask what kind of girl he liked. Maria understand why Nagi would ask him this as she saw the magazine she is looking right now. It spoke about zodiac sign love fortune. The bashful Nagi ask Maria not to embarrass her and demand Hayate to answer her question truthfully. Hayate dutifully did and said that he just like a normal girl that he can spend his whole life with her peacefully. Nagi wonder what he meant by 'normal' and is extremely angry when Hayate says that she will not understand. Nagi give Hayate a punch before leaving him in a pool of his drool. Nagi vow to show Hayate that she will find out what 'normal' is.

Later, she went out with Hayate wondering why. Maria just think to herself that it has always been you. On the streets, Nagi wondered how she would know about 'normal'. Ayumu soon appear before her and Nagi conveniently labeled her as 'normal'. Ayumu is not really happy about that and soon to leave her the next second. Nagi then realize that she can find out more about 'normal' if she follow Ayumu around. Ayumu find that troublesome. At the train station, Nagi tried to enter there without payment. She is stopped by he access machines there and she thought that the train is bullying her. Ayumu just tell her the truth. Once inside, Nagi is very excited about getting onto the train but soon realize that the trains here are just too fast to hop on it. Ayumu just said that the train passed by them a second ago is on a limited express and normal ones that will stop at the station for them to go onboard will arrive soon. Nagi find her mistake rather amusing. While on the train, Nagi still continues to be excited. She wants Ayumu to bring her to the driver cabin to try to drive the train. Ayumu refused and said it cannot be done. Just then, the train stopped to allow people in. Nagi is stunned when a lady started to sit next to her. Nagi thought that that row of seats they sat on is reserved for us. Ayumu enlightened her and cannot believe that she did not know it is public. It is normally common sense. Ayumu soon find Nagi weeping and demand her not to brag about being normal in front of her. Ayumu is dumbfounded by this reaction from Nagi and ask why she is so fixated about being normal. Nagi refuses to tell her.

They soon alight the train and head to a cake shop that already has a long queue outside. It seems that Ayumu is just here to queue up to buy some delicious cake. Nagi mistook that as she is trying to buy some video games and consoles, finding it how boring the normal people is to do that. As they continue to queue up, Nagi left Ayumu without telling her. After she find out that Nagi is missing, she saw her asking herself to come over. Nagi then told Ayumu that she has brought the video console without queuing up. Ayumu is astonished to see a video console made out of gold and she is about to buy that. She declined the deal swiftly.

A flashback tell us how Ayumu manage to get a photo sticker with Hayate. The scene return to both Nagi and Ayumu with them failing to buy the cake. Ayumu is very disappointed about that. They rest at the park with Ayumu deciding to call someone from Nagi's mansion to bring her back. Ayumu is asking for Nagi's mansion number when Ayumu flipped her mobile phone, accidentally letting Nagi see the picture sticker pasted near the phone monitor. Nagi demand Ayumu to tell her how she get that while Ayumu realize that Nagi is envious. She start to brag about it when Nagi took out something she can brag as well, showing the phone number of Hayate to Ayumu. She then tell Ayumu that she will never give Hayate up to Ayumu and Ayumu did the same thing.

A standoff occurred but it ended before long. Knowing that Nagi is just a kid, Ayumu put aside their argument and decide to take her home herself. However, she soon find out that Nagi has blisters all over her feet and is unable to go back as well as having no intention to go back. She then ask Nagi if she want to go back to her home with her. Nagi agreed. At Ayumu's home, she treat Nagi the cream puffs. Nagi say thanks and is stunned that she can tell her that. But it did not take long before Nagi started to complain this and complain that about her home. Ayumu just give up and accept her verbal abuse. Ayumu then accompany Nagi in the bathroom after they played and ate. Nagi realizes that being normal is just scaling down whatever she is doing back at the mansion. Ayumu help Nagi washing her hair as she realize that Nagi is quite a normal girl if she isn't that rich. Nagi is happy to hear that. Nagi then tell Ayumu why she is so sensitive about the word 'normal' in the bathtub. Ayumu is happy that Hayate actually liked normal girls. Ayumu, in return, tell her that the photo sticker is something she forced Hayate to do and his no meaning to it. Nagi is relieved to hear that and find it rather boring.

It is time to go to bed as Ayumu lent Nagi her bed for the night. She is about to go to the living room to sleep when Nagi ask her to sleep with her while denying the fact that she is afraid of the dark. When Ayumu agreed, Nagi give her the chance to talk to Hayate. The girls' night thus ended quietly. Just then, Hayate is seen outside Ayumu's apartment. Apparently, he has been following Nagi, protecting her along the way. He is happy that the day went by without problem and is about to take his leave when he hear someone calling him. He then saw Isumi at an extremely tall structure and asking for his help. Hayate of course lent his assistance but is beaten to it by Wataru. Saki, worried about her master, decide to climb the structure as well. When Wataru almost manage to reach Isumi, she fell off the structure as Wataru followed. Hayate had to leap from where he has climbed, catching the two before landing on the ground with his two feet. However, he is soon crushed by fallen men out of nowhere. Hayate can only wonder what exactly happened.

38 "Hayate in danger! Complete shut down!!"
"Ayaushi Hayate! Kinō Kanzen Teishi!!" (危うしハヤテ！機能完全停止!!)

At school, Shion is reporting something to Kirika. That only make Kirika decide to go for Hayate again. The devious plan is about to be carried out.

At Nagi's mansion, Hayate and Maria were waiting for Nagi to come down to the entranceway. They are preparing to go to Mikado's Christmas party which is somewhere they must go due to the fact that Mikado treat to release something embarrassing to Nagi to the public. It is a photo of Nagi donned like a doll. Hayate then saw someone else inside the picture. Maria identified that as Himegami. Just then, Nagi came down wearing a dress that is covered by the trench coat Hayate give to Nagi the first time they met. Hayate is surprised that she is to wear that today, one year since their first meeting.

At the Christmas party for Mikado, Hayate realize this is for the relatives of Mikado to meet him. Sakuya appear to greet them so as to Gilbert who made Hayate remember the condition set by him in order to get Nagi's financial assets that is to defeat him first and later Mikado. He ask Hayate if he has found any meaning to his life yet. Hayate said that it is to protect Nagi due to numerous debts to her. Mikado did not accept his answer nicely as Nagi decide to intervene, not wanting her grandfather to have the chance to criticize Hayate. She then took Hayate out but went to look for Maria first. Remembering that today is her birthday, she give a present to Maria before asking Maria to look after Mikado. Mikado later ask Maria what she think of Hayate. Everything good except for the fact that he did not really love Nagi.

Taking a stroll at the same park where they first met, Nagi ask Hayate not to bother about what Mikado has said. Hayate recalled that it has been one year since they met. When she hear that, Nagi think that their relationship should advance to the next step. She decides to take the initiative, using the stars as the topic of conversation and hint him to kiss her. But Hayate thought that Nagi is really interested in the stars and started telling her everything he knows about them. Nagi believe that Hayate is just being embarrassed and began getting her face closer to his. But everything is interrupted by a cyborg combat butler that came out of nowhere. He appear that it is here to fight Hayate. And he did. After he attacked Hayate numerous times, Hayate decide that it is time to fight back but is distracted by Kirika who called out to him.

As he turn around, he saw Kirika's giant snake flashing its eyes at Hayate, paralyzing him. Under the order of Kirika, the snake then casted a spell on Hayate, making him lose his butler abilities. Hayate did not know that but when the cyborg butler attacked him again, he is unable to defend himself. Hayate end up lying on the ground defeated with Kirika and the cyborg stepping onto him on one leg while asking Shion to take a photograph of them. Once she did that, Kirika is about to tell him what the photograph is for when a mobile cream crepe shop passes by and lure her over. Shion chased after Kirika but order the cyborg butler to finish Hayate off. Just as he is about to deliver the final blow onto Hayate, someone emerged out of nowhere and stopped the cyborg butler. He manages to defeat the cyborg butler with flying colors as Nagi check on Hayate. It seems that Nagi and that person knows each other.

Hayate find himself in a dream where he saw his parents and they deem him as being incapable of being Nagi's butler because he is their son. Hayate woke up frightened. He decide to get out of the bed and meet their savior that happened to be Akane Himegami, Nagi's former butler. Klaus is reprimanding Akane at this moment in time, wondering why he has came back. Akane made no response as Nagi deem that he must be asleep behind his mask. She proceed to punch him on the head as Akane woke up and did the exact same thing to Nagi, saying that it is an eye for an eye. He kept stressing the fact that he is not Himegami but Princess God which is 'Himegami' in English. Maria later told Hayate that the relationship between him and Nagi has always been like this and should not be bothered by that.

Hayate understand that and ask for them to sit down and have tea. But when he serve the cups of tea to them, Nagi find it being too hot. As he attempt to check it out, Hayate accidently poured the whole flask of water onto Himegami. Klaus is furious about Hayate's clumsiness. But that is just the beginning. He broke a vase later, cooked nasty food, destroyed the plants and go lost when coming back from shopping. Klaus has become so angry that he want to kill Hayate right now.

Ayumu is selling some Christmas cake wearing a Santa costume out in the streets. She felt that Hayate may be in trouble right now but soon find herself in trouble, as well. Back at the mansion, Nagi ask Hayate to rest up for the day despite the fact that he did not want to. She is sad that she can only say that to him and unable to cheer her up. Hayate is seen sitting by the pond wondering what is going with him. Himegami appear telling him that his power has been sucked away by Kirika. He is incapable of being Nagi's butler now and ask him to leave.

When Hayate return back to his room, he found a photograph that cause him to make the decision to leave the mansion. When Maria came into his room to check on him, all she see is a letter of resignation on his desk. Outside the mansion, Hayate said that this is the best for Nagi right now. He disappear into the shadows alone.

39 "Friends of the well-behaved. Praise the debt-ridden butler!"
"Yoiko no Tomodachi Shakkin Shitsuji Banzai!" (よいこの友達 借金執事万才!)

News of Hayate's departure soon reaches Nagi. She began to blame herself for Hayate's departure and wonder how they are going to get him back.

At the same time, Hinagiku is seen in school, visiting her elder sister. Yukiji is drunk and throw tantrums, leaving her room in a mess. Eventually, she fell asleep, leaving Hinagiku with the cleanup. Hinagiku did left her Christmas present for Yukiji in her room and left. Just then, she saw Hayate. She ask why he is here but soon realize that he is here to surrender himself to Kirika. Shion appear and tell Hinagiku about the photograph they took with Hayate in defeat and inform her that whoever defeat Hayate shall own Nagi's financial assets. Hinagiku tries to fight for Hayate and ask Shion to return all those photographs to her. But Hayate tell her not to get involved and follow Shion to meet Kirika. At the stadium, Hayate find out why Kirika still want him as her butler when he has lost his butler abilities. Meanwhile, Hinagiku phoned Nagi and tell her what happened to Hayate. Nagi is determined to get Hayate back.

At the stadium, Kirika tell Hayate that she has found some butler treasure from an ancient butler civilization located in the Amazon forest. She is there searching for the legendary vanilla beans when they stumbled upon the ruins of that civilization. They started exploring the ruins and soon found Jormungandr, which is Kirika's giant snake, guarding the butler treasure. The giant snake then enchanted them and become guardians of the treasure thus giving them supernatural power. It is then Hayate realize that they have been controlled by the snake. Kirika waste no time letting Hayate see the butler treasure which he will don and gain enormous power. But when the butler treasure which should be a butler costume appear, Hayate is stunned to find out that it is a maid uniform. But there is no time for Hayate to escape the fate of becoming Kirika's butler now.

It is at that moment when Nagi arrived and charge into the stadium with Hinagiku and the SPs. What they saw made them speechless. Hayate, wearing the butler treasure, which is a maid costume, is serving Kirika dutifully. When he saw Nagi and Hinagiku, he thought that they were guests and went to prepare some more tea. Nagi wonder what happened as Kirika told her that Hayate has become her butler. Nagi refuse to believe it and decide to snatch him back from Kirika. Hinagiku went ahead to help out, attacking Kirika which she know is controlled by Jormungandr. Nagi try to approach Hayate but is stopped by Shion's giant robot. She is about to be toasted by its beam attack when Himegami appear and save her. Nagi ask Himegami to deal with the giant robot as Nagi went to remove the maid costume off Hayate. She seems to be enjoying it as she soon realize that both Himegami and Hinagiku has been knocked down by their opponents. Jormungandr went to stop Nagi as she finally tell Hayate what she really want to say to Hayate. Hayate is moved and awakened, possessing the intention to stop Jormungandr. The butler treasure react to Hayate's feelings and fully awakened into an armor of gold. Jormungandr decide that it will not guard the butler treasure anymore, attempting to destroy the butler treasure along with Hayate. Unfortunately, the butler treasure overpowered the giant snake but the battle between them cause the stadium to implode.

Thankfully, no one is hurt except for Jormungandr. Himegami manages to retrieve the ultimate butler uniform which is the butler treasure out of the collapsed building in time and thank Hayate for allowing him to get this. It is said that he only need three more of such items to get the legendary God Butler Dragon?! He later disappear but Hayate had Himegami to thank Himegami for helping him out nevertheless. They soon left the school heading back home with Hinagiku deciding to go with her elder sister for a drink. Of course, she can only drink juice at this age. And Kirika as well as Shion has broken the curse because of Jormungandr's defeat. The camera where photographs of Hayate's defeat to the cyborg butler has been destroyed as well. While on the way back, Nagi ask to be dropped at the park. There she brought a warm can drink for Hayate, signifying that she has been able to give him warmness now unlike one year ago. She then gesture to be kissed again but Hayate still does not get it. Nagi left him after giving the man a punch on the head. Back at the mansion, they found everyone waiting for them to come back so that the Christmas party can begin. They wish all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

40 "Osechi is also good, but enjoy Hayate, too."
"Osesa mo Ii kedo Hayate mo ne" (おせちもいいけどハヤテもね)

It's the new year and characters of the anime, 'Hayate no Gotoku' is in celebration mode. They even had a program to entertain the viewers but it is short lived. Hayate mention that there might be a brand new show coming out but it is known later that the possibility of that is slim.

Nagi is seen doing her own stuff again, this time round, reading a manga. Maria was persuading her to go and do what people usually do on New Year's Day but Nagi refused. Inspired by the plot of the manga, Nagi went to Hayate's room immediately. Hayate is seen watching a New Year's Day special show on TV when he discover that Nagi is lying on the bed next to him. He is spooked and ask why she is here as Nagi tries to tell him what she wants. Hayate mistook her again and end up being beaten up by Nagi.

At the enormous garage, Hayate saw a bicycle right before Nagi. She ask him to take her to a place called Kujyuukuri Beach in Japan to watch the morning sunrise. Hayate knew that this is relatively impossible especially on a bicycle but he cannot let Nagi down. Thus, they began their journey there.

While doing so, Hayate states the fact that he is happy that he is able to know Nagi despite the fact that they did that in unusual circumstances. I guess Nagi felt the same, feeling embarrassed by that. Just then, Nagi felt her legs were cold and decide to reserve the whole department complex just to buy something to warm her legs. Hayate is stunned to see all members of the department complex waiting for their arrival. Of course, the legendary diamond pear card help a lot.

Hayate soon find their means of transportation being attached with a chariot. He does not seem confident that he will be able to ride on the bicycle and move a inch with that behind him. But Nagi does not care.

Meanwhile, Maria is looking for Nagi when she saw the manga and knew what happened to her. Continuing their approach to the beach, Hayate uses all his strength to pull the chariot to their eventual destination. He is moving so fast that Nagi has to say that she is impressed. But it did not take long before someone tries to outdo him. A vehicle flashed its headlights at them, challenging them to a duel. When it attempt to overtake them, Hayate has no other choice but to do that. In the end, Hayate manages to outdo the vehicle during a tight corner on the expressway bought by Nagi a while ago.

Eventually, Hayate and Nagi reach their destination. Nagi is extremely happy to be here while Hayate is looking half dead, relatively exhausted right now. Despite that, he volunteer to buy some hot drinks for them and left her on the beach. Arriving at the vending machine, he cannot believe his luck that he has forgotten to bring his wallet. As he sighed in disbelief, he found out that Maria is here and immediately apologized to her for risking Nagi's life as he is moving in high speed just now. Maria forgive him for that, asking him to take this money she give to bring Nagi back home. She will take care of the rest. She eventually thank Hayate for guiding and protecting Nagi well all this time. She wish him Happy New Year before she left.

Hayate returns to find out that Nagi has fallen asleep on the beach. As it turn out, he become the only one to watch the morning sunrise. He too wishes Nagi a Happy New Year.

Nagi is seen back in her room next wondering if the heavy snowing is the effect of global warming while playing her portable. Suddenly, the lights went out and Nagi freaked out. Hayate came in and ask if she and Maria are alright while Maria ask Hayate to head to the power plant outside the mansion to restore the power source.
Hayate did exactly that, defying the raging snowstorm trying to hinder him. But he soon realize that the snowstorm is manmade. It is created by a snow blower, which happened to be the reason of the power shortage, setup by Sakuya who is supposed to go to the mansion and visit Nagi. But she seems to be lost. And then, the real snowstorm appear, even blowing off the snow blower. He and Sakuya then embark on the journey to the power plant, asking a Yeti for guidance. They eventually reach the power plant, realizing that it is geothermal. It even has a onsen and Hayate ask if Sakuya wants to go use it. But somehow, she become embarrassed. Hayate is beaten up by Sakuya for not able to understand her and that lead Sakuya to send Hayate right into the onsen with her jumping in and dishing out punishment. They soon stopped with Sakuya demanding Hayate not to treat her as a kid. She soon realize that both of them are soaking wet and Sakuya has placed herself in an embarrassing position.

When Hayate tell her that he will go find the engine room to restart the power plant, Sakuya initially wants to go with him but soon realize that she still cannot do that with her wet clothes. She is seen calling for her bodyguards later.

Hayate manages to reach the engine room almost dying but he manage to reactivate the power plant. Just as he is about to die and start hallucinating, Sakuya appear before him. Sakuya praise him for a job well done and have her bodyguards stretcher him out of here. Hayate is glad that she has arrived to save her but soon realize that he has made a mistake doing a very awful jab that cause Sakuya to leave him here to die. No one ever knew if he has survived this.
