41 "Goodbye Teacher, Despair ~ Graduation Special"
"Sensei Sayonara Zetsubō ~ Sotsugyō Supesharu" (先生さよなら絶望～卒業スペシャル)

School began for Hayate and Nagi again. They are preparing to go to school, being sent off by Maria. Before departure, Nagi ask her to go lend some DVD from Wataru.
In return, Maria ask her to take care of herself since it is cold today. She did do that using Hayate as her shield, blocking the cold wind breezing towards her. Hayate does not like that at all. Just then, Hinagiku arrives and does not seem to spot Hayate and Nagi. Hayate finally get her attention, asking why she is so inattentive. He fear that the Kirika is up to their mischief again. But Hinagiku clarify to them. She said that she is concerned about her elder sister, Yukiji, who has given her some money as a New Year present. She has never received such a thing from her before and wonder why it is so special today. She will learn soon.

Yukiji suddenly appear, warning them not to chitchat for too long and end up being late for school. She seems especially nice for today which gives them the creeps.
Yukiji just explain that today is a special day for her and walk away. As they give chase, Hayate pick up a letter of resignation falling from Yukiji. They were stunned to see that. Hayate and Nagi went to tell the Student Council trio, asking if they know about this. They did not believe that Yukiji would think of quitting but when Hayate show them the letter of resignation, they had to believe it. They cannot believe that as well and immediately went to clarify with Yukiji once more.

They found her near a bed of flowers, seeing her enjoying the scenery. They ask if what Hayate has told them is the truth. And Yukiji never reject that. She even said that today is her last day which shocked them even more. Just then, Hinagiku appear hearing what she said. She ask why she is quitting and what she would do if she has done that. Yukiji wasn't worried about it at all. She has thought it completely. Hinagiku then ask why she has never discussed this to anyone. Yukiji think that she is a grown up adult and will not need to ask for people's opinions to make decisions on her own.

That made Hinagiku very upset, so much so that she run away after scolding her for being an idiot. Yukiji is astonished that Hinagiku actually did that. Hinagiku escapes to the Student Council Room, looking quite saddened by the fact that Yukiji is leaving her. She took out an old photo of her and Yukiji and start to remember what Yukiji has once promised her.

Years ago, the young Hinagiku is on a swing, looking at the children boasting how much money they got for the New Year. Yukiji arrives to meet her, noticing the sadness she had while looking at those children. But all she can ever do to cheer her up is to give her a sweet and ask Hinagiku to give her a break. She promise that she will never leave Hinagiku's side. She then offer to give Hinagiku a piggy back ride back home and the young girl happily accepted it. While doing that, Hinagiku ate the sweet given by Yukiji and seems happy to go through the New Year like this. Remembering this, all Hinagiku can say about her elder sister now is still her being the idiot.

Later, at the classroom, the Student Council trio still does not believe that Yukiji is quitting. They have never thought that this could happen and wonder how they will deal with their homework now. Hayate and Nagi felt the same with Hayate remembering that the next homeroom will be Yukiji's last. He intend to make that an unforgettable experience.

And indeed, he and the whole class tries to do so. During homeroom, Hayate raise his hand asking Yukiji about history. The Student Council trio along with Nagi did the same as Yukiji is happy to see them suddenly feeling good about learning history. She then began to teach them while her class look on, knowing that this might be the last time they will see Yukiji here again. Meanwhile, Hinagiku is seen outside, still thinking of a way to stop Yukiji from quitting. But she did not make it in time. After Yukiji has finished teaching them, she tries to bid them goodbye but the class rose up to stop her. Everyone ask her to stay and Izumi suggest that she can leave after they graduated. She hope Yukiji will promise them when Hinagiku suddenly realize a thing about promises. As Yukiji is wondering what to do with them, Shiori who is standing beside Yukiji cried. She then state that she is happy to see them caring so much about her. She then said that she is the one who is thinking of resigning after knowing how hard it is to become a teacher especially when Yukiji is using her as her personal maid. That will mean the letter of resignation is hers, not Yukiji.

Everyone is bewildered by that and ask Yukiji to explain what has happened. Yukiji said that she never thought of quitting at all. She is just feeling lucky today, very lucky as a matter of fact. Everyone, hearing this, were stunned but no one is as stunned as Hinagiku. She went up to Yukiji and beat the crap out of her elder sister, apologizing to the class of this big misunderstanding. Hayate then thought about the money given to Hinagiku by Yukiji and wonder what that is about. Hinagiku knew exactly what that is for.

It is a promise made by Yukiji to the young Hinagiku that she will give her some money ten years from now on New Year Day. It appear that Yukiji did remember that and done it without breaking that at all.

The scene changes to Wataru's Video Rental Store with Maria getting ready to leave with the lent DVDs. Just before she left, Saki give her something given by her grandmother. While on her way back, she saw Ayumu standing before the mailpost, looking quite frustrated. It appear that she is trying to send Hayate a New Year Day card but does not seem to have the courage to do so. Just as she decide not to do that and depart, she find herself knocking onto a human wall. Three men were standing before her, looking quite unhappy about Ayumu's intentional knock. Yukiji immediately become fearful of them and wonder what she should do when Maria introduce herself to Ayumu and tries to help her out.

When the three men think that they are being ignored by Ayumu and Maria in their own conversation, they threaten to beat the two up with one trying to do exactly that. But that guy soon find himself flying into one of his comrades after Maria literally tackled him down and push him right at his friend. The last man standing is enraged by Maria and pull out a knife to get even with her. But Maria warn him not to do something that will hurt him. The man did not believe her but he will had to when SPs suddenly appear behind him, looking ready to crush him to bits.

After the situation has ended, Maria bid Ayumu goodbye, giving her what Saki has present to her just now. As she watch Maria leave, Ayumu has an idea that she wish to be just like Maria. Back at the mansion, Maria ask how school is for Nagi today. Nagi just said nothing much but wonder why she is eating a bag of marshmallow right now.

42. "Just like Dogs, Rats, and Bulldogs"
"Sore wa Inu to Nezumi to Burudoggu no Yō ni" (それは犬と鼠とブルドッグのように)

An abandoned baby is being discovered by someone who decide to take him as their child. They named him 'Hayate' because he is to grow up into a strong boy that is capable of running away from debt collectors like a gust of wind. Part is the reason is because they don't need to worry about him when they decide to cast him aside and run. That is how Hayate is fated to obtain ultimate strength from the moment he is born.

Hayate has the skill of identifying the geniunity of drawings because his father used to be a cheat who earn money through cheating them with fake drawings. He attempt to show the buyer the real drawing but after the buyer decide to obtain the drawing, he ask Hayate to switch the real with the fake. This is of course illegal but Hayate is still a child back then.

Since Hayate is seen as invincible and can do anything, Nagi decide to find out about his weakness if he has one. She and Maria tries their best to do that but simply couldn't. Nagi does find out that Hayate is watching her very close, knowing what she likes or dislike. They even enlist Sakuya and Isumi to help them. Isumi suggest to ask him directly and they did. But still, no one knows in the end.

Hayate decide to take a break from work and concentrate on his studies since he wants to advance with Nagi together. Wataru came along when Hayate find out that the test papers might turn out to be written in other languages. Both he and Hayate only have minimum language skills. In order to help them, Nagi opt to tutor Wataru while Maria will take care of Hayate.

Ayumu is bad in her studies as well besides other matters like love and relationship.

Maria tells Hayate how Wataru manage to skip grades with Isumi despite the weakness in his studies. It is Sakuya who give him that oppotunity to do so despite the fact that it is supposed to be her and Isumi that were allowed to advance. Sakuya obviously know that Wataru likes Isumi. From that, Hayate understand the close relationship between Nagi and her gang of friends.

Sakuya find out that Wataru did not really make good use of the oppotunity she has given him to get close to Isumi. She seems rather unhappy about this.

As they continue studying, Hayate started to worry about Nagi and Wataru being alone in a room with each other. He and Maria soon find out that they are in the same situaition as well and felt embarrassed about it. To resolve this, Hayate suggest they bring coffee to Nagi and Wataru. When they walk into the room, they found Wataru grabbing hold of Nagi's hand and mistook them. Wataru tries to defend himself saying that he only love Isumi. Coincidentally, Isumi is here and hear that but Wataru immediately denied it, saying that he is joking. When the misunderstanding is resolved, Hayate thought about going back to study with Maria. Nagi took offense to that and get angry about him.

At the same time, Wataru tries his best to crack jokes to Isumi but fail to do so. Sakuya is ready to teach him a lesson.

43. "Poseidon Advance, Generator Gavas"
"Poseidon Adobansu Jenereitā Gabasu" (ポセイドンアドバンス ジェネレイターガバス)

Nagi and the others were invited by Sakuya to go for a cruise onboard a luxurious liner. The day started off with Nagi trying to think of ideas for her manga again. Just then, a phone call from Sakuya ask them if they would like to go on a cruise. Thinking that it is a good idea, Nagi prepares for it.

Apparently, Sakuya has just built this liner and decide to enjoy its first maiden voyage. She has invited many people other than Nagi which includes a lot of extras. Nagi continues to understand the idea of a distant attitude towards someone particularly Hayate for her manga, trying to act ignorant towards him. The Piyo Piyo Terrorists proceed to do just that

Since this liner look almost the sama as the sunken ship, Titanic, Nagi ask Sakuya if there is a possibility that this ship will sink too. Sakuya garanttee that it will not do so unless terrorists raided the place. Much to her disbelief, a group of terrorists did. The Piyo Piyo Terrorists proceed to do just that and they seems to have planted some explosives onboard as well.

Unfortunately for the terrorists, there were skilled combat butlers onboard too. They were subdued by Klaus and Isumi's personal bodyguards with ease who were disappointed by the terrorists' capabilities. Apparently, the lost girl is onboard somewhere. As it seems, the purpose of the terrorists here is to free themselves from the debts they own. They were trying to commit suicide and using this ship to do so. They want to take all the rich people onboard this ship with them too.

And they were successful in doing so. Moments later, a explosion occured. It rock the ship and cause it to gradually sink. People started to leave this ship but Nagi cannot find Hayate. At this moment in time, Hayate is down inside the ship where the explosion occured, discovering that it is taking in water. At the same time, he found Isumi floating on a piece of debris as well. Hayate tried his best to save Isumi and is almost eaten by a shark. By now, Nagi arrived. She attempt to help Hayate, jumping into the water but not realizing that there is another shark. Seeing Nagi in danger, Hayate defeat the one who tried to eat him alive and attack the one assaulting Nagi, ending up losing consciousness and sinking into the water. As he faint out, Hayate notice a figure approaching him. When he woke up, Nagi and Klaus were at his bedside. Apparently, Klaus arrived to rescue all three of them and place them on a rescue boat. Hayate is thankful towards Klaus for saving them but the proud butler never wants recognition from him. He urge Hayate not to be in a position that he will need to come and rescue him next time. Hayate bear that in mind.

44. "The Mystery of 120% Employment Rate (Temp.)"
"Shūshokuritsu 120 Pāsento no Nazo(Kari)" (就職率120パーセントの謎(仮))

Surprisingly, Nagi's manga is about to be animated. Hayate did not think that it is a good idea but Nagi insisted on this. Isumi came to join in the fun, writing a story about a cat's life and trying to get that animated as well. Since Hayate has won a prize for his manga in the past, they would like to read that manga of his. And astonishingly, it is really good.

Nevertheless, Nagi went to get her manga animated. Sakuya arrive in time to join in the fun as they made their way to a ramen shop but this is a disguise for an animated studio. Work is certainly being done here and the urban legend of anime studios being camouflaged as ramen shops to be hidden from the public turn out to be true according to Sakuya.

As it seems, the Student Council trio happens to drop in. They are looking for the voice actors and try to watch the studio at work. Despite their arrival and the busyness of the studio, Nagi carried out her plan.

At the meeting, she explained to the people there what she want to do with her anime. At first, they did not wish to help her. But a call soon arrived to tell them to just do it. Hearing who she is, they have no other choice but to do so.

Inevitably, they have faced some problem during this process. They even have to cut away Ayumu's part in the anime. But in the end, the product is out. When they brace themselves for the anime, they soon discover how bad it is. There is no main story or it can be said that there are at least three stories inside. One is a opening theme of Nagi's manga. The other is Isumi's manga and lastly a story about a girl who loves her senpai but find out that he has a family and turn into a star for some weird reason starring Hayate and Maria.

After the anime ends, both of them looks kind of astonished to see this. Despite this, at the end of the day, both of them wishes to read what Nagi's manga is all about. And it seems that Maria have shown signs that she wants Hayate to decide for their future. Hayate seems quite confused about this undoubtably.

45. "It's ♥ Maria-san Thank You Day in February!"
"Nigatsu no Maria-san Kansha dē! Desu wa Hāto" (二月のマリアさん感謝デー！ ですわ♥)

Nagi and gang made Maria mad again. This time round, it is the same problem: her age. They just had to remind her about that. In order to apologize to her properly, Nagi and Hayate decide that they will bring Maria to a hotel for a relaxation tour for the day. She will not need to do anything but rest. However, that has to be a secret for her since Maria will not agree to this. They can only tell her until they reach the place.

Unfortunately, they did not expect this. It seems that today is an experience event for the Hakuou Academy and the hotel is currently being ran by students of this school. Izumi is administering room service for Hayate and the others which cause them to find out about this. This seems to be problem for Hayate and Nagi who only wants Maria to relax today. They fear that Maria will end up dirtying her hands because of the inexperienced students here.

Nagi is right about that. Despite what they have done, Maria still have to help the students there. At one point, she even help to communicate guests from another country. Maria would have wanted to relax today. But it seems that she just could not help but lend a hand to the inexperienced students.

Worse of all, Kirika and Shion had to come as informed by Shiori who knew Maria personally. Without any choice, Maria call upon Hayate for help. At the restaurant, Kirika is demanding to eat more sweet things until the waiter sent in a dish that would totally satisfy Kirika. This dish is one of Maria's specialties and is made by Hayate in the nick of time. That finally drove off Kirika who meet Maria and remember this dish she made during the school festival years ago.

Maria is just glad that Kirika left the vicinity. They eventually spent a night here since Nagi fell asleep in her room with Maria thanking Hayate for bringing her here even though their objective is not met. Hayate seems disappointed about this.

Unfortunately, Maria did not mind and say that seeing them happy is the most rewarding thing to her. But she does not appreciate being called 'old' again due to Hayate's and Nagi's carelessness. It seems that they will need to find another way to apologize to Maria again.
