Celebrations
Tribal Howls (Season: Any)
Tribal Howls are common and may occur for variety of reasons, for example births, deaths, successful hunts or Recognitions, or for no reason at all. They are tribe gatherings full of stories and songs, and sometimes dancing for happy events. This is ushally only done in Blood Point and Moss Rock Holt.
Birth (Season: Any)
Parents and baby get presents, always small and practical things. The gifts are given inside a cradle-sling. Singing, and lots of dancing.
New green (Season: Spring)
Songs, dancing, feasting. This celebration is when there's enough leaves and plants sprouting to get a good meal of them without causing too much damage to the growth, about late in the first third of the season. The idea is that none of the food is leftover from the last year and if the migration happens about the same time all the better, get some tasty fat goose to go with the four-leggeds' meat.
Dance of Joining (Season: Spring and/or autumn)
Elves follow the suit of the wolves and fireflies with their own dance of joining. Cubs are left to sleep in the dens. Autumn Dance is usually in the gathering middle of the Holt around the fire and spring one in forest meadows when it's warm enough during nights. In spring 2-4 adults (who do not eat dreamberries then in contrary to everybody else) stand guard in the surrounding forest in case some predator would like to make a snack of intoxicated elves.
Bonding (Season: Any, most often spring)
Bonding often is a reason for at least a small celebration - if not in the whole tribe scale, at least within the family of the newly-bonded elf.
Rebirth (Seasons:Any)
The Rebirth celebration is full of food, music and dancing. It is meant for two things. The lose of the old Holt members in hops that they have a happy passing to the palace and for any new elves that come to the Holts. The Chieftess’s and Chief do this celebration because they have been alone for so long they find it a happy time to have there Holts full of elves.
Every now and then there are also completely spontaneous, not-really-for-any-reason celebrations. Elves don't always need a reason to have fun! :)
