"Life, to me, is just another thing." (Denny, in Dan's
dream)
Zen Bones is avilable for gigs in and around the SW Virginia area. Give us a call at 540-763-2589 and ask us for more info and/or a tape of the band.
Chuck George, our percussionist, has studied hand drumming seriously for
some years now. He's had a drumming group that have met on Friday nights for
a long time. They are familiar with many of the African rhythms, often
involving four separate rhythm parts that intermesh. He also teaches hand
drumming in Blacksburg.
Dr.Bob Sieple, is our first chair horn man. He cut his teeth on
Miles Davis, Willie Dixon and Frank Zappa. He likes a round, wild,
unpredictable and funky music emphasizing improvisation. He is a healer
with a big green car. He is a cool guy.
Daniel Porter, also a practicing psychologist, is also a fine
songwriter. He and I have been working on his current album project in the
"Art of Music" studio. Dan works in mediation as an alternative to lawsuit.
Carol Cassis, also a fine songwriter, is recently here from Pueblo,
CO. She has a nice jazz influenced style and always adds just the right
sound to complement the ensemble. Carol is a professional massage
therapist and teaches meditation as well as her abilities in music.
Gary Kelly, our drummer, plays in a number of area bands with a wide range
of styles and teaches drums at music stores in the area.
Jay Bones, our guitarist/bassist/vocalist, has many influences musically
and enjoys playing music as part of his therapy. The band often rehearses at his
music studio and he sometimes provides chips, cookies and assorted other goodies.
