• Route 1: Pallet Town to Viridian City
• Route 2: Viridian City to Pewter City
• Viridian Forest
• Pewter City: Defeat Brock of the Pewter City Gym for a Boulderbadge
• Route 3: Pewter City to Mt. Moon
• Route 4: Mt. Moon to Cerulean City
• Cerulean City: Defeat Misty of the Cerulean City Gym for a Cascade Badge
• Route 24/25: Cerulean City to the Sea Cottage: Help Bill and get the S.S. Ticket
• Route 5: Cerulean City
• Underground Path/Route 6: Cerulean City to Vermillion City
• Vermillion City: Pick up HM01 from the Captain of the S.S. Anne. Defeat Lt. Surge of the Vermillion City Gym for the Thunder Badge. Pick up the Bike Voucher from the Pokémon Fan Club.
• Route 11-->Diglett's Cave/Route 2: Pick up HM05
• Diglett's Cave-->Route 11-->Vermillion City-->Route 6-->Underground Path and Route 5
• Cerulean City: Get the Bicycle with the Bike Voucher
• Route 9: Cerulean City to Rock Tunnel
• Route 10: Rock Tunnel to Lavender Town
• Underground Path: Lavender Town to Celadon City
• Celadon City: Defeat Erika of the Celadon City Gym for the Rainbow Badge. Get the Silph Scope from Team Rocket's hideout beneath the Game Corner. Buy water, Lemonade, or Soda Pop from the vending machines on the roof of the Celadon Department Store.
• Underground Path: Cerulean City to Lavender Town
• Lavender Town: Rescue Mr. Fuji from the Pokémon Tower and get the Poké Flute.
• Route 8: Lavender Town to Saffron City-->Give the thirsty guard a drink
• Saffron City: Rescue the President of Silph Co. and receive a Master Ball. Defeat Sabrina of the Saffron City Gym for a Marsh Badge.
• Route 7-->Celadon City-->Route 16: Wake the Snorlax. Get HM02 from the house behind the bushes--OR--Route 8-->Lavender Town -->Route 12: Wake the Snorlax-->Route 13/14/15: The Docks
• Fuchsia City: Defeat Koga of the Fuchsia City Gym for a Soul Badge. Pick up HM03 and the Gold Teeth in the Safari Zone. Exchange the Gold Teeth for HM04 with the Game Warden.
• Route 19: Fuchsia City to the Seafoam Islands
• Route 20: Seafoam Islands to Cinnabar Island
• Cinnabar Island: Find the Secret Key in the Pokémon Mansion. Defeat Blaine of the Cinnabar Island Gym for a Volcano Badge.
• Route 21: Cinnabar Island to Pallet Town
• Pallet Town and Route 1 to Viridian City
• Viridian City: Defeat Giovanni, leader of Team Rocket and the Viridian City Gym, for an Earth Badge.
• Route 22/23: Viridian City to Victory Road
• Indigo Plateau: Defeat the Elite Four, one by one. Defeat your rival for the last time. Become Master Pokémon Trainer.
• Now you can enter the Secret Dungeon!
