Artist: KRIONIX
Date: 7/21/03
1. The Basics: First of all, tell us who you are, where you come from, what's your part in Hip-Hop and how you got started.
Answer:
KRIONIX, Seven-One = beats & rhymes / Louie Dollars = Rhymes
Were based in San Antonio, TX.
Our part in Hiphop is to bring back positivity, fun and intelligence.
I got started in 94 when I racked my very first drum machine from a music store.
2. The rumors: Be objective and honest: what do people say about you? Who do you think people will find you to be similar to? Not: whom would you like to be compared to, but truly, whom do you think folks will equivocate you to?
Answer:
I hear things like P.U.T.S., old Dilated, J-5, Main Source.
3. Mirror, mirror on the wall: Now, who would you like to be compared to? Why?
Answer:
Gangstarr, KRS-ONE, P.E. longevity in the industry, always did what they wanted too & faught corporate labels that tried to push them in directions they did not want to go in...
4. On the beat tip: How would you describe your beats? Who would you compare yourself to on the production tip? Who is your favorite producer? Why?
Answer:
They sound late 90's to Early 80's - I've heard people compare my beats to these of PUTS, Large Professor, MUMS THE WORD, Madlib, Kut Master Kurt. But I honestly respect all these guys too much to say I can do what they have done. I try to learn from them & add my own flavor. I like Primo, Pete Rock, Scott LaRock, Alchemist, J-Zone. Cus they come with fresh shit almost always...
5. Check the technique: What equipment do you use? If money ain't a thing, what stuff would you like to work with? What are your sources for sampling?
Answer:
I'm using Akai MPC 2000XL

I'd like to get an ASR-10 & good recording equipment. & start collecting vintage stuff like sp-1200, tr-808 & 909 etc.
6. Who`s the mack: First, name 3 people in this industry you feel had a positive influence on Hip-Hop and second name 3 people you feel had a negative effect (whatever: Mcing, DJing, Producing, Clothes, Attitudes…)!
Answer:
+ = KRS-ONE, Chuck D, Crazy Legs

- = I'd rather not even mention they're names...
7. Who got the props: What makes you decide a rapper/MC/DJ/Producer is phatt? When do you give props? Name your favorite beat/loop/rhyme/punchline/scratch?
Answer:
Creativity... When they are righteously deserved... fav beat = Co Flow/Fire In Which You Burn... loop = don’t have 1

... rhyme = fuck & suck punchline = to get to the other side, scratch = anything from Q-Bert or DJ Kico's thump routine.
8. On the strenght: Where do you feel are your strenghts (lyrics, beats, flow…)? Which of your own songs do you like the most? Why? Which beat, which verse do you think is your best?
Answer:
BEATS definitely, then lyrics, then flow... "Turn Ya Funktion Out"... Its catchy & Old School best beat & Rhyme "The Soulution".
9. Critical beatdown: How well do you take critisism? Do you give criticism? Would you tell a wack MC he/she is phat, only because they're nice? Do you tell where to progress or do you diss them? Do you feel dissed if someone doesn't feel your shit and straight up tells it to you? Do you take it personal?
Answer:
pretty well I guess... I've never killed a critic yet

no

try to help if I can

no

yes
10. Keeping it real: How much of what you tell in your lyrics reflect your everyday life and how much is fiction? How do you feel about the "realness" in Hip-Hop?
Answer:
100% real ... keeping it real doesn't mean being a thug... its cool to do fictitious rhyme if there's a point to doing it... but if you just try to act like something your not to get fans, they'll eventually see through you.
11. My philosophy: How would you describe your style? What attitudes shine through the most in your songs? What are some of your topics?
Answer:
Funky Soul Hiphop w/ Fresh Rhyme sauce

Graffiti, wack "hiphop" magazines & reporters, Freestyling, B-boys & girls, the days of old, We like to give praise to the fresh emcees, dj's, etc. & not even mention the wack.
12. The input: Which people influenced your work - who is currently an inspiration to you? Name your most important records/movies/books/websites/games!
Answer:
Primo still Primo. records = various AWB, Bob James / videos = Motley Crue - Shout At the Devil

Movies = 28 Days Later / Books = I really want that COPE2 graff book...

Websites = none / games = Dominoes, Jenga, Uno.
13. Crews, posses, cliks & clans: Have you done any collabos yet? With whom? Who would you like to work together with? What is the most important thing in collaborating with other heads?
Answer:
Prhymemates, Culture Music, Bavu Blakes, J-Vic, I'd like to do a track w/ DJ Kico / Platter pirates Crew... Cool attitudes & raw talent.
14. Pump up the volume: Do you have any releases? Discography?
