My Mom was a very wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and the list goes on.
My other pages contain pictures, and stories, but on this page I want to tell you
about my Mom.
Her favorite color was green. Everything she bought was green no matter what
it was. That is if whatever it was she could get in green.
She collected a lot of different
things, but her biggest collection is her bell collection. She has bells from all over the world
thanks to her family. Everyone would buy her a bell if they took a trip somewhere. Two of her
Grandsons were in the armed forces and they brought her a couple bells from the far away places
that they were stationed at.
She loved crossword puzzles, and word games.
I think if you asked her to spell a word there were very few she might have to look up.
She loved playing games, but I think word games were her favorite! I never liked to play
word games with her. I guess because I wasn't very good at them, but the strange thing now is
I love word games. (I wish she was still here, I think I could give her a run for her money)
I grew up playing games with her. I remember when I was very small we would play yachtzee.
and when I was close to getting a yachtzee she would have me turn the cup over and
not look and when I would open my eyes, would you believe that 9 time out of 10 I would
have a yachtzee? How amazing!!! Poker is a game the whole family would play when we all got
together. Mom was always the banker. She would always write on a piece of paper what beats
what for me. I wasn't to good at that either, but it was sure fun with all the family there.
She was a movie buff, she loved all those old movies. John Wayne was her favorite! And I can't
forget the soaps boy did she love those! She got me hooked on those. (thanks Mom) She used
to watch one channel and record the other channel. Game shows were a must. Before I moved out
on my own we used to watch Wheel of Fortune together and see who could guess the puzzle first.
Even after I moved out we both still watched it, and we would call each other if we figured out
a puzzle to see if the other got the puzzle.
She loved to knit. She made all of her grandchildren baby blankets, and when they would get
their first bed she would knit them another to fit their bed. I can't even begin to count all the
knitting shes done. Needle point was another thing she enjoyed doing.
On my Dad's side of the family, they started having family reunions a few years ago, and boy did
she love those. We would all bring things to raffle off and 9 times out of 10 she would win.
She loved to travel, sometimes her and Dad would get in the car and drive up to the mountains
just to have breakfast.
There is so much to tell about my Mom. I could go on forever. I think
with what I have said everyone will know enough about her to know what kind of a person she was.
You never realize how important someone is to you until you don't have them anymore. I could
never imagined life without her. It still doesn't seem real.
I remember the day she told us
she had cancer. I was so scared, but still didn't believe her time on earth was coming to an end.
I heard what she said but, really I guess I didn't because I didn't want to hear that. In her
last days I still didn't see it. Now looking back all I did was find signs to think she was
getting better, but in reality she wasn't.
She had cancer for about 2 years, but really it came
on quick. None of us was ready for that reality. I was with her in her final days, and I'm
thankful for that, but I still wish I could have just one more day.
