In no way would it be a 'breeze' to get along with Asuka. The girl possesses a temper and personality that matches her fiery red hair, as cliche as that sounds. Boastful, annoying, prideful, boisterous, energetic: all these words can be used to describe her if you look no further past the surface. But Asuka hides many complexities beneath her stormy exterior.
Being able to claim the status as the pilot of an Evangelion is a great source of worth to Asuka. She prides herself in her abilities, synchronization rates, and the fact that she outranks all others when piloting her beloved Unit-02. Although her leadership skills are incomparable, her teamwork skills could definitely use some improvement. Asuka likes to be in control of any situation, she wants to know that everyone is looking to her for the answers because she is so obviously capable of handling them.
Though not unfriendly, Asuka's personality is so overbearing that she drives away many potential friends. Her favourite past times include spending time with Kaji, disliking Rei, and mercilessly insulting Shinji at every opportunity. More often than not, she will inform him that he is spineless and a wimp, but by no means does that mean she doesn't care. She's just...a rather complex girl.
Through the series, more is revealed about her unfortunate circumstances, explaining exactly why she is the way she is.
