Editorials

Here it is, the editorials section! This is basically a place for both fans and myself to rant about various issues regarding Pokemon and anime in general. Below the editorials are the rules for submitting your own rants.

"What is a Pokemon Master, Anyway?" by Wujaman--Despite the fact that Satoshi has achieved a lot, he still isn't considered a Pokemon Master. Just what does it take to be one?

"Why Anime Should Not be Translated in America" by Kiyoshi--See why anime dubs coming from England would turn out better than American dubs...

"Symphonic Bliss...If it Were on CD, Anyway!" by Kennith-san--With all the great background music in Pocket Monsters, why is there only one soundtrack?

"The Real Pokemon" by Brother Lapras--Did you know there's a version of Pokemon that's different from the one we see today? And it's been right under our noses the whole time...

"Yu-Gi-Oh...Another Cardcaptors?" by Alan Tse--Now that Yu-Gi-Oh, 4Kids' second anime title, has premiered, did fans get a good dub or a bad dub? Well...

"Ooh, Look at the Pretty Birdie, Gohan!" by Kenneth-san--Comparing various scenes in two versions of an anime is more complicated than just talking about cuts and paint edits...

"Kids' WB!'s Toonami" by Dogasu--A follow-up to the "Kids' WB! Threatens Anime" rant, I review Kids' WB!'s version of the popular block.

"Kids' WB! Threatens Anime" by Dogasu--Taking an hour away from Cartoon Network's Toonami is just one of the many crimes Kids' WB! is committing against anime.

"Stop Complaining About the Dub!" by Niki the Great--Are fans of the Japanese versions of anime too critical of the dub? This editorial says they are.

"The Fall of Pokemon" by Dogasu--in what I feel to be my best rant yet, I talk about why Pokemon's popularity if fading, and what needs to be done to help it regain its fans.

"The Power of Many" by Dogasu--Power of One? Suuuuure...THAT'S what the movie teaches us...

"On The Companies that Produce Pokemon in the U.S." by Myutsu 150--this rant, originally posted on Mew's Bubble, addresses the dumbing-down of the series, especially the Myuutsu movie.

"A Short Pokemon Rant" by AnimeGirl64--this has insights on various aspects of pokemon, from the voice acting to the censorship/mainstream of the manga. It has some nice info.

"An Essay on 'Myuutsu no Gyakushuu' (AKA Mewtwo Strikes Back)" by Tina Bauer--this shows the differences between the American and Japanese versions of the first Pokemon movie, Myuutsu no Gyakushuu.

"The Sound of Silence" by Dogasu--my thoughts on the use of silence in anime as a mood-setting device and how most TV dubs throw this out the window. *WARNING* contains spoilers for Neon Genesis Evangelion! If you haven't seen all the series, don't read!

I need your help! Write an editorial (no length requirements, but please make it decent-sized) ranting or raving about Pokemon. Perhaps you want to talk about your annoyance with people's pokemon bashing. Or maybe you didn't like the dub of the movie. I'll choose editorials on the following criteria:

1) Grammar and spelling. If u can't speel good or use well grammar, dont right an edetorial. Also, NO editorial will b put up w/Mixx-type spellings (kewl, u, uncapitalized I's when using it as a pronoun, chix, comix, etc.). If u can't spel don't wright.

2) Writing style. Please don't submit anything that looks like a third grader wrote it. Break out a thesaurus if you need to. Just don't be redundant and don't be afraid to use words that only older people (i.e. teenagers and college students) understand.

3) Editorials on anime in general (especially dubbed anime) are allowed as long as you link it some way to Pokemon.

4) No "Pokemon SUX because it's stupid!" If you have to bash it, give a sound reason. Also keep in mind that dubbed Pokemon is a lot different than the original. That's just like saying Dragon Ball Z's a bad show because of horrible voice-acting, video-game type music, and corny dialouge (all staples of the dub).

Sound strict? Maybe, but I want to have some good, quality editorials to put on my page. If you have any you'd like to submit, e-mail them to me at
