    English-Japanese Objects and Places!

This page exists to tell you the original names of Pallet Town, the Pokedex, and the gym leader badges.  Nintendo/4Kids weren't happy changing the names of the humans and pokemon, they had to change everything else, too!  o_O  Anyway, I hope you find this useful.

    #
    American Name
    Japanese Name
    Japanese Name (Translated)
    01 Cut Iaigiri Iaigiri
02 Fly Sora wo tobu Sky Jump
    03 Surf Nami nori Wave-Ride
    04 Strength Kairiki Super Power
    05 Flash FURASSHU Flash
06 Whirlpool Uzu shoo Whirlpool Tide
07 Waterfall Taki no bori Cascade Ascent

*I had previously listed "Wave-Riding" as "Wave Nori," but Kenneth-san corrected my translation.  Nori can refer to the seaweed wrapping of sushi, but in this case it's the second-base form of the verb "noru."  Thanks again to Kenneth-san for the correction.

    Pokedex, Dexter/Pokemon Zukan

    Japanese VA:  Miki Shinichiro
    American VA:  Eric Stuart

The Pokemon Zukan, aka the Pokedex, is given to Satoshi and Shigeru.  It is basically an electronic encyclopedia of pokemon, telling a trainer what type of pokemon a trainer may encounter, its attacks, its stats, where it can be found, and any other useful information.  There are three Zukan in the anime.  The first one contains information on the first 150 pokemon.  The second one was an upgrade of the first one and contained information about some of the newer pokemon, like Togepi and Mairiru.  The third and current Zukan (pictured above) contains information on the first 251 pokemon (and possibly the newer ones like Kakureon).

Pocket Monsters was not created by me.  It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo.  Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon.  No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site.  All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!).
