    Character Profile

    Name:  Hiroshi (Japanese), Richie (American)

    Voice Actors:  Takayama Minami (Japanese)

    Name Meaning:  ???

    Age:  About 10

    Known Relatives:  none

Hometown:  unknown (first met at Sekiei Stadium)

Aspirations:  To be the world's greatest Pokemon Master

Video Game Appearances:  Pokemon Puzzle League (Nintendo 64)

    Manga appearances:  Pokemon Dengeki Pikachu

First episode:  Episode 78, "The Rival Enters!" ("A Friend in Deed").  Hiroshi leaves in Episode 80, "Pokemon League!  The Final Battle!" ("Friends to the End") and returns to help Satoshi in the Uzumaki Cup in Episode 220, "The Riddle of Pokemon X!!"

Defining episodes:  "Pokemon League!  The Final Battle!" ("Friends to the End")

Information:  Hiroshi is at the Sekei League when he bumps into Satoshi-tachi in an elevator.  The elevator stalls, and he uses Satoshi's Pikachu to jump-start it.  Satoshi, impressed with the boy's knowledge of pokemon, asks him what his name is and they become friends.

Hiroshi has three pokemon that we see--a Hitokage named Zippo (Zippo), a Butterfrii named Papii (Happy), and a Pikachu named Leon (Sparky).  Hiroshi may have other pokemon, but we never see them.  He puts a star on all his Monster Balls so that he can tell his Monster Balls apart from others', which helps him greatly when the Rocket-Dan steal the pokemon of many different trainers.

Hiroshi and Satoshi are good friends--they even share the same love of pokemon and taste in clothes!  But when Satoshi finds out that he must battle Hiroshi in the Sekei League, he is devastated at the thought of fighting his friend.  Hiroshi and Satoshi promise each other to a good battle, and the big day comes.  Both are two for two, but Satoshi's choice of Lizardon costs him the match (because at this point, Lizardon won't obey Satoshi).  Satoshi loses to Hiroshi, placing in the top 16.

Hiroshi ends up losing his next match, but unlike Satoshi he doesn't sulk.  Hiroshi sees his defeat as another hurdle to climb over, and he is inspired to train harder and become better at battling.  As the league ends, Hiroshi and Satoshi say goodbye to each other.

Hiroshi appears again during Satoshi's travels in the Uzumaki Cup to help him out, fighting the Rocket-Dan and whatnot.  I believe he leaves after two episodes, but don't quote me on that.

    Hiroshi is somewhere in Jouto...

Pocket Monsters was not created by me.  It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo.  Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon.  No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site.  All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!).
