    Myuutsu Kills!

About a year ago, a child choked and died on a Myuutsu Power Bouncer ball.  The Pokemon Kills site reports:

On JANUARY 30th 1999, seven year-old Robert J. Brazier passed away when the "POKEMON POWER BOUNCER" he was playing with became lodged in his throat.  Despite the valiant efforts of his family, neighbors, EMTs, the Fire Department and emergency room doctors and staff, the Pokemon Power Bouncer could not be dislodged because of its size and consistency.  Robbie suffered a slow, painful and agonizing death.

Becuse of this incident, the parents of the little boy have put up a website, Pokemon Kills, to inform people of the "evils of Hasbro."  They're trying to boycott Hasbro (makers of the toy) because they will not change their design.  I feel sorry for the family and all, but boycotting a company won't do much.  I don't think boycotting a company can save any more lives, I think it'll just trivialize this incident as yet another attempt to cash in on Pokemon's success.  I think Hasbro should've readjusted the size of the ball so that it's bigger (and therefore harder to swallow).  Then again, I've heard that the child was caustic (is that right?) and therefore shouldn't have been left alone unattended.  Come on!  Irresponsible parenting is a bad reason to boycott a company.

I've also heard that part of the reason the parents are mad is because Hasbro made the ball clear so that kids can see the toy and try to get at it.  Excuse me, but how are the kids supposed to see Myuutsu if it isn't CLEAR!?  What else about the power bouncer makes it Pokemon-related!?  Most kids aren't stupid enough to try to get the toy inside, but if you have a caustic child then it could have happened and the parents should have supervised him more carefully.

Hmm...I want to get to the Myuutsu toy inside.  I know...I'll EAT my way through! *Gnaw gnaw gnaw*

Pocket Monsters was not created by me.  It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo.  Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon.  No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site.  All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!).
