 AIM:  Dogasu

    Rocket-Dan Pokemon
    Kojirou

    #109 and 110:  Dogasu/Matadogasu

    Japanese VA:  Ishizuka Unshou
Getto Da Ze:  Dogasu is with Kojirou in his debut episode (Episode 2, "Battle!  Pokemon Center")
Evolves:  Episode 31 ("Full of Digda!")

Dogasu is a happy-go-lucky pokemon which belongs to Kojirou.  Dogasu's main purpose was to create smoke screens to cover the Rocket-Dan's escapes, or to use its sludge attack to blind its opponents.  It's not evil by nature, it only does bad things because Kojirou commands him to.

Dogasu is such a happy pokemon who always has a vacant look on its face.  "Yay!  I'm a pokemon!  I'm so happy!"  Then, it evolves into the sad-looking manic-depressive Matadogasu.  "Somebody put me out of my misery!  These extra two heads are heavy!  Just shoot me now!"  See the difference?  Dogasu should have never evolved...  Shoot, I had to explain my obsession with Dogasu sooner or later, ne?  Matadogasu does the same things it did when it was a Dogasu--smoke and sludge.  Sludge and smoke.

Dogasu is not available in Pokemon Yellow.

    #129 and 130:  Koking/Gyarados

Getto Da Ze:  Episode 15 ("The Battle of the St. Anne!")
    Evolves:  Episode 16 ("Pokemon Drifting")
    Leaves:  Episode 16 ("Pokemon Drifting")

While on-board the luxury cruise ship St. Anne, Kojirou's attention is caught by one of the vendors in the main convention center.  The vendor coerces Kojirou into buying a Koiking, saying that it would be a good investment.  Kojirou was told that a single Koiking would lay lots of eggs, so Kojirou could sell all the children and make tons and tons of money.  So Kojirou naively buys the pokemon using the advance from his (and Musashi's) paycheck.

Kojirou was disappointed when he discovered that his pokemon couldn't do much of anything (it couldn't even swim properly!) and for a while he forgets about it.  After the St. Anne sinks and Kojirou's stranded on a raft with Satoshi-tachi and Musashi-tachi, hunger sets in.  Everyone decides to eat Koiking (imagining all the fish dishes they could make with it), but they discover that it's nothing but skin and bones!  Angry that his pokemon can't even become a decent meal, Kojirou disowns Koiking and kicks it into the ocean.  Just then, Koiking evolves, and the angered Gyarados uses its Dragon Rage to blow everyone far far away.  It is assumed that Gyarados is still out in the ocean somewhere...

    #058:  Gardie

Getto Da Ze:  Ga-chan is Kojirou's pet from Episode 48 ("Gardie and Kojirou")

Gardie is a fire-type puppy pokemon who is Kojirou's childhood friend. Kojirou has owned Gardie since he was little and went everywhere with him...they were inseperable.  Kojirou ran away from home because he couldn't stand the cushy lifestyle provided by his parents (you know, too many rules and regulations), leaving Ga-chan (his Gardie) for his parents to take care of.  When Kojirou returns home years later, the pokemon helps Kojirou-tachi escape from Kojirou's insane parents and the fiance they set up for him.  Kojirou leaves home again, and Ga-chan stays home once again.

Gardie is not available in Pokemon Green.

    #070 and 071:  Utsudon/Utsubot

Getto Da Ze:  We never see!  Utsubot first showed up in Episode 57 ("The Secret of Raising")

Kojirou's mystery pokemon!  This pokemon raises many questions.  When did Kojirou catch it?  Where did he get it?  The answer:  nobody knows!

There has yet to be an explanation of how/where Kojirou gets Utsudon.  The first time we see it is in Episode 57, "The Secret of Raising," inside Yamato's and Kosaburou's breeding center.  Kojirou comments that he left an Utsudon at the breeding center and that it had evolved into an Utsubot.  So when he caught it way back when, it was an Utsudon.  We never see Kojirou actually catch it (even in the two "banned in the US" episodes) so no one really knows.  Not even the Japanese fans.

So what does it do?  Utsubot doesn't do much but munch down on Kojirou's head whenever it's summoned!  It gets kind of repetitive after a while--I mean, when Kojirou calls on Utsubot, you know exactly what will happen next because it's already been done a million times already.  Utsubot fights only a little bit, and when it does it's quite powerful, but it's usually just there for comic relief.

Pocket Monsters was not created by me.  It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo.  Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon.  No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site.  All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!).
