Strider Hiryu's Weapons
In the first game, all you could see was a little white arc
Little did we know that it was his Cypher blade travelling so fast
Clearer pictures were seen once Strider joined the Marvel Vs. Capcom series and Strider II
Here we go through evolution of a typical Cypher blade
If you see this blade in person, don't ask to handle it, it is very fragile
And we like to keep it in one piece.
Strider Hiryu's Cypher
Evolution
Cypher Yes. Cypher starts out as a piece of wood. Drawn on there you can see are the cuts that will be made to make the general shape. The length of the cuts will vary from person to person, this Cypher is tailor made for Mousse, assuming Strider is the same height as Mousse, and the length of the Cypher was calculated accordingly.
Cypher This is just a matter of moving around the cut pieces and then gluing them together. If you can put a puzzle together, you can figure out where the pieces from the first picture went.
Cypher Some metal reinforcement that I have just lying around the house is added to give the Cypher mostly weight at the handle. Otherwise the blade would outweigh the handle and life would be awkward, to say the least.
Cypher Get your PVC ready boys, cos you will need it to work on the baton type handle. Sure you could have started with a toy baton and added the blade on, but that will introduce an inherent weak point where the blade connects to the baton and *crack* The handles are wrapped with leathery type cloth, that provides traction and so the Cypher won't slip out of your hands.
Cypher Simply add on the blade (made of pressed aluminum foil), and paint on the red stripe in the middle and you are set. This is the finished Cypher. All my friends say that the tip is sharp and I could probably hurt someone with it. Bah! They are all just exaggerating. But I probably won't let you handle my version of Cypher as it is fragile (in my book)

Strider Hiryu's Grappling Hook
Profile
Grappling Hook Strider's Grappling Hook, as if were pulled right from it's sheath. It's what Strider uses to scale walls and hang upside down while he's slashin' away with Cypher.
Grappling Hook However, it's no good straight, when he needs to scale walls so it has a joint in it so the blade comes down and forms a real hook. It's supposed to stay like that if he wants to ever climb anything, not to mention it scares little girls away.

On to the next scene! Part 1!
