Episode #9 "Both
of You, Dance Like You Want to Win!" |
At school Asuka seems to be making an
impression on everyone except for Rei Ayanami. When Asuka asks Shinji "Where
is she?" He replies, "Who?" Asuka answers, "The
first child you dummy." She then spots her and comes up and
greets Rei. With the whole school watching Rei completely ignores Asuka.
The two are a complete clash in personalities. Asuka even asks "Do
you want to be friends?" and Rei in her monotone voice replies "If
I am ordered to." Asuka moves in with Misato and *reluctantly* Shinji. After this little incident another angel appears.
NERV deploys Asuka and Shinji to intercept the angel but Asuka tries to
show off and splits the angel in half. To her dismay the angel forms
into two angels who make a mochary of the two pilots and even embarrass
Fuyutski. The angel starts to regenerate, after an N2 mine is dropped on it, slowly in a lake giving Shinji
and Asuka time to come up with a new attack plan. Misato decides for the
whole week to force them to act alike. She dresses them alike and makes
them learn a coordinated attack manuever through music (A funny note:
Asuka says that it is impossible as she screws up so Misato asks Rei to
try it with Shinji and the two pull the music routine perfectly thus
embarrassing Asuka into trying to keep the assignment). One night, Asuka decides to sleep in Shinji's room, thinking he's asleep. The two nearly kiss but Shinji restrains himself. Later, the EVA's pull
off a great victory over the angels to an interesting sound of music.
The two EVA's did it in five minutes since they couldn't have the cable
on in order to execute the drill. At the end the two EVAs fall on top of each other and with the
angels gone the two insult each other immaturly and the look of Fuyutski
as he is listening to the two bicker is just funny. |
Episode #10
"Magma Driver" |
The episode begins with Asuka shopping for bathing suits with Kaji, whom she absolutely adores. Kaji questions the amount of skin the one she selects reveals. Over lunch, ASuka elatedly tells Kaji about a school trip where she'll be able to learn how to scuba dive. Unfortunately, Asuka, along with the other EVA pilots can't go on the trip due to their responsibility to save the world. Misato makes the decision and Shinji supports her. While at the NERV pool facility, Shinji attempts to study when Asuka basically unknowingly flaunts her breasts in his face. She mentions how she graduated college the year prior and attempts to help Shinji understand thermal expansion by asking him "Now if I heat my breasts with my hands, will they expand or contract?" NERV discovers an egg of an angel in a
volcano. Gendo launches a plan to capture it, citing to SEELE the need to go on the offensive. Asuka volunteers to do the
job but then starts whining about the stupid suit her and
EVA-02 had to wear in order to withstand the heat/pressure. She actually was
about to refuse when Rei volunteered and of course Asuka couldn't let
her do that. The UN has bombers present in case Asuka, supported by Shinji fail, to prevent a similar event as second impact. Asuka goes down and captures the angel and they start to
bring it back up. As they do, the angel awakens and breaks the cage and
Asuka drops her progessive knife. The angel starts attacking and Asuka
tries to dodge it as she is being towed up. Shinji sends down his knife
but it has no affect until Shinji reminds Asuka about thermal expansion ^_^. Asuka breaks one the of cables, hoisting her up,
and the coolant being carried in it is used against the angel and she
kills it with the progressive knife. Unfortunately, the angel shredded the other cables in the fight and Asuka begins to sink down again. Shinji rescues her though, submerging his own EVA in the lava and grabbing EVA-02 just in time. At the end, with a barrier
separating Misato and Asuka from Shinji, they bathe in the hot springs
looking at the beautiful sunset. *Note: the hot spring dialogue is simply hillarious! |
Episode #11
"The Day Tokyo-3 Stood Still" |
This episode is one of my least favorites. I
don't really like the plot and don't like the enemy. EVA-00 is finally
operational and has gotten a new paint job (the only thing I liked about the
episode was Rei finally got some action in her EVA). Thats a fairly good
thing because a spider like creature attacks. The three children are
called back to NERV but the power goes out (some think that the angel
cut the power lines others *like me* think it was SEELE that was
responsible) and the kids have to walk to the GeoFront. Asuka proclaims
herself leader and constantly gets humiliated going the wrong way and
Rei corrects her. When they finally get there, Gendo is working his a$$
off in order to get the EVA's ready to launch with diesel engines on.
The three climb a vertical shaft attempting to get to the angel but it
turns out the angel is ready and they lose their rifles and battery packs.
With five mintes left Asuka develops a plan. Rei is to go down the
shaft and throw Shinji a rifle. Asuka will defend Shinji by getting hit
by the acid. The plans goes perfectly and the angel is destroyed with
only a few shots by a plasma rRifle and the three EVAs, a few seconds
later, run out of power and all fall on each other, but big deal, they
won. (In my own personal opinion I feel that this was truly the worst of
all the angels. If they had power the angel could have been defeated so
easily just by the three standing on skyscrapers and firing down at it
for a moment. |
Episode #12
"She said, "Don't Make Others Suffer for Your Hatred" |
We take a flashback at the episode back to
the 1960's where people could experience free love, smoke wee..... oh
wait wrong time. We see a flashback of Misato as a child being loaded
into some sort of rescue pod by her father just before the second
impact happened (1999 in the south pole). It shows something what the
second impact looked like from space when Adam blew up for unknown
reasons. Everyone on the expedition including Misato's father were
killed which Misato explores during the episode as to why she joined
NERV. NERV finally paid their electric bill and just in time.
Another angel is on the prowl but this time in space. After two solar
satellites fail to destroy the angel, (what did they expect only the
EVA's have been able to ever penetrate an AT field) it starts to launch
parts of itself as bombs. At first it is not apparent what its trying to
hit but soon they realize what it attempts to hit, NERV Headquarters. It
continues to become more and more accurate and Misato realizes that its
next shot will be accurate enough to hit NERV and destroy it. She
deploys Rei, Asuka, and Shinji to stop it except she isn't exactly sure
when and where it will land, just somewhere in the vicinity of Tokyo-3.
The angel trys to send itself at around
Shinji's location. He uses an AT field to hold up this massive angel
(the biggest one in the entire series) and Rei and Asuka help out and
raise AT fields as well. Asuka, I believe it was, pulls out a
progressive knife and manages to kill the goliath and the thing just
drapes over them lifeless. Misato's "women's intuition" worked
though I don't think Gendo was pleased. |
