10 wanna-be models arrived in Sydney for the experience of a lifetime; Allana, Atong, Chloe, Gemma, Naomi, Nicole, Sam, Shannon , Simmone and Zoe gathered at Rose Bays renowned Catalina restaurant where they were met by the host Erika Heynatz and thrown right in the deep end of modelling pool with an impromptu Alex Perry fashion show.
A far cry from the glamorous lunch the girls were expecting, it was backstage chaos as they all prepared for the show- Naomi was a little shy changing in front of the other girls; Sam had a ‘wardrobe malfunction'; Nicole's bottom wasn't big enough to wear the costume pants; poor Allana couldn't do up her jeans and Zoe was horrified at the thought of swimwear modelling with an ‘un-maintained' bikini line!
Alliances were quickly formed when the girls discovered their beautiful new home, a massive Darling point penthouse with sweeping harbour views, had only two bedrooms with five single beds in each! Chloe was disappointed when she realised she had to share a room with the confronting Sam, while Sam was more concerned that the room didn't have a wardrobe.
Fitness trained Brad Joseph made an unwelcome entry to the model house the following morning to measure and weigh each of the girls. The weight-in fuelled speculation amongst the girls as to whether Nicole was anorexic and wether Allana's boobs were real. Gemma put a few noses out of joint by comparing herself to all the others in height and weight. Poor Zoe's birthday was ruined when she discovered she was the heaviest competitor, and because of Brad's visit, no one was game to touch her chocolate birthday cake!
The surprised continued as the girls were made for their introduction to the Sydney party scene- a cocktail party as POSH Bas where they mingled with the A-List. Shannon struggled with high heels and Atong hated the cocktail dress she was given to wear and convinced the easy going Simmone to swap. At the party Nicole made a faux pass while chatting with make-up maestro Napoleon, Atong wasn't at all impressed with the male talent and Sam's outrageous flirting was a little over the top for the Sydney Swans.
Later that night, the drama continued as Sam called a house meeting to discuss concerns there was some money missing from Atong's wallet. There was a little confusion as to how much money was actually missing and the way the situation was handled caused an even bigger rift in the house.
The next day over their morning coffee, the girls discovered they were all getting Brazilian waxes. Sam and Allana weren't fazed at all but once they were told a Brazilian was actually was, Nicole and Gemma weren't happy and Shannon just wanted her Mum! The rest of the girls took is all in their stride and after lots of screaming and swearing the Brazilian experience was complete.
A Krispy Kreme donut drop helped soften the blow of the Erika Mail that announced that the girls' first big photo shoots was at 2:30am the next day.
So it was off to Wylie baths, near Bondi, for a sunrise swimsuit shoot! Erika was on hand offering professional breathing and posing advice before the shoot began. Sam drew the short straw and had to go first, Nicole was told in no uncertain terms she was too skinny to be a swimwear model, and Chloe's pale skin had a dose of fake tan to help being her first photo shoot to life.
On a high after the success of the photo shoot, the 10 girls decided to make the most of their last night together by having a night out on the town. Nicole raised a few eyebrows when she kissed a guy she fancied and Allana caused controversy when she broke the ‘house rules' and partied with her friends. The erupted into a huge fight between the two rooms in the house- Allan and Gemma were at each other's throats, Nicole said her bit before she passed out in the bath and, to avoid the conflict all together, Sam went and did the dishes with Atong.
Elimination jitters showed as the girls made their way to the first judging panel- no-one knew what to expect and no one could predict who would be leaving the competition.
Shannon was assessed positively by the judges and told she was both natural and sexy. Atong was told she had a natural ease on the catwalk and that she was an uncommon beauty, but lacked personality. Zoe was told her walk was composed and the photo was good, but not great. Sam was told she was shameless on the catwalk and her photo was gorgeous. Nicole was told she didn't look comfortable on the catwalk and her eating habits were questioned. Allana was questioned about her hair extensions and whether her boobs were real. Simmone was told her attitude and style on the catwalks were great and that she looked ‘fashionably disinteresting' in her photo. Naomi was told she had a lot of presence for a petite girl and the judged were impressed with the intensity in her eyes. Gemma was told her walk was great, just like a Gucci girl and she was described as a cross between Kate Moss and Philipa Hamilton. Chloe was told he had a nice easy walk but she needed to pull out her personality.
The judges deliberated and when the girls walked back in Erika stood before the 10 of them with only nine pictures. One by one, she called out the girls who were still in the running to become Australia 's next Top Model, first Chloe, followed by Allana, Simmone, Shannon , Zoe, Gemma, Sam and Atong. Then Naomi and Nicole were asked to step forward for their assessment. Erika told Nicole that every one of the judged had a concern about her weight but they saw in her a great potential to make positive changed. Erika told Naomi her height worked against her; however, her attitude and natural style was of a higher standard than the other girls.
Then, Erika then announced that Nicole was still in the running to become Australia 's next Top model and she asked Naomi to leave the house.
