Policy FAQ
This list is not a comprehensive list of policies and rules. If
you have a question, feel free to ask in our Feedback Form, check your
lease or the online lease review, or call
your phase office. It's better to find out ahead of time!

Can I Have a Party?
We're not here to stop you from having a good time, but we are here to
protect your rights and your neighbor's rights as residents. Anytime you
infringe on the rights of your neighbors to a quiet, safe living environment
(such as with loud guests or music), or anytime you endanger the safety
of your guests (such as by allowing underage drinking or public intoxication),
we will step in. Remember however, that if your neighbor infringes on
your rights, we will protect you in the same manner.

What Kind of Pets Can I Have?
You can have up to a ten gallon aquarium (filled with water) and the aquatic
animals which live in it. Mammals, land reptiles, birds, and any dangerous
animal are not allowed due to the damage they can do to apartments, danger
they may pose to other residents and college park or residence life personnel,
and the allergens which they may deposit in the apartment which require
hundreds of dollars of extra cleaning when you move out. If you're not
sure about an animal you may want to get, you can call our offices and
ask.
Unfortunately, the penalties for having a prohibited animal (such as a
dog or cat) are heavy. The first offense carries a $100 dollar fine with
one week to correct and the second carries a $200 dollar fine, along with
the possibility of eviction if the situation is not corrected immediately.
If your RA notices first, you may only get a warning, but that only gets
you an additional week to find a new home for your pet. The College Park
and Residence Life staffs love animals just as much as you do, but we
have to look out for the safety of our residents and the condition of
our apartments for years to come. We recommend letting your family take
care of your pet until you can sufficiently support them on your own.
- What happens if you catch underage drinking?
You'll need to dump all the alcohol we find. If you or any guests at
your apartment are found drinking and are underage, your party is over
and the resident(s) responsible will need to schedule an appointment
with your Area Coordinator to discuss your options. We will only get
the police involved if we meet with resistance or beligerance. Full
cooperation is the key here. Ask all of your guests to leave, and cooperate
with the RA's requests.
Whether the police are involved or not, Florida law dictates that the second
offense and all offeses thereafter will be reported to the dependent student's
parents. If you're going to party, do it legally, and do it responsibly.
Whatever the reason you're going to school, make sure you finish.
