BIBLIOLGY

or my thinking about the Bible

The Bible is inspired -- in the same manner as people of faith have been inspired to record their experiences with the Godhead down through the ages. This means that, along with the actual "word of God," you will find the limited understandings of both physical and spiritual realitys that were contemporary to the times of the writers. There are also the social prejudices, and even contradictions to the nature of the Godhead that were prevalent in those times.

The believer needs to sift through the dross to find the precious. She or he does this realizing that she or he has the same limitations as the writers, i.e. physical and spiritual misunderstandings, social prejudices and false views of the Godhead. The believer uses prayer, his or her own innate intelligence, acquired knowledge, and close examination of his or her prejudices and misunderstandings that may affect the process of sifting the scriptures. The believer accepts this task with the understanding that while the end result may come closer to the "truth," it can never be perfect, because we are not yet perfect.
