The Godhead still works to complete or perfect the creation. This work is done in both the cosmos, continuing the creation process itself, and in individuals, "perfecting the saints." In our attempts to explain spiritual reality in limited human logic, many Christians, (often including myself), call this the work of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Divine Trinity.
This "Spirit of The Godhead" enables the continued existence of the cosmos by "holding it all together." (My best suggestion is that The Godhead is, or provides a part of Itself which becomes, the energy holding the sub-atomic particles together in atoms, molecules, etc., enabling all other forms of energy, such as gravity, light, and even nuclear energy.)
The Spirit of the Godhead continues the process of creation by subtly influencing both the "saints" and the "natural humans," leading to changes in thinking, resulting in changes in institutions, eventually making the world a more human place to exist in. And...the Spirit of the Godhead subtly works in the lives of the "saints," those who avail themselves to an intimate relationship with the Godhead, enabling them to give up habits, prejudices, limitations in thinking, and thereby to become more human themselves. This, in turn, sets an example for "natural humans" to follow, resulting in the eventual humanization or perfection of the species.
This very same Spirit of The Godhead not only holds the physical cosmos together, but also holds the spiritual church together, so that, like any other body, when one part hurts, the entirety is aware of that pain, and when any one part rejoices, the entirety shares in that ecstasy. It is also responsible for joining each new member to that spiritual body.
While this Spirit of The Godhead is separate and unique from any of the parts of the spiritual church (transcendent), it is the "force" (to borrow a term from George Lucas' STAR WARS TRILOGY) which makes that spiritual church a reality. And...if I might speculate, it appears that the purpose of the creation is the formation of a "spiritual body" which the Godhead can inhabit, made out of the individuals who answer the call to become saints. I also believe that those individuals will retain their individuality, demonstrating the true meaning of unity -- possible only through diversity. I do not envision any loss of self, such as portrayed by the pre-Hugh Borg of STAR TREK: the Next Generation.
