THEOLOGY PROPER

or my thinking about the Godhead

The Godhead is far beyond the understanding of us, physical and mortal beings. Attempts to define The Godhead in terms of persons or personalities, attributes and aspects may do nothing more than limit our own ability to understand The Godhead. (These attempts cannot limit The Godhead because The Godhead is beyond limitation.)

Yet, with proper understanding, such attempts may enhance one's ability to approach The Godhead. Consequently, while I realize that The Godhead is epicene, that is more than both male and female, I do approach The Godhead as "my heavenly mother." I also subscribe to the doctrine of the trinity. In addition, I maintain that The Godhead is transcendent, meaning that while The Godhead may be emotionally affected by our actions and what we believe, or deny, The Godhead is separate from and unique to the creation in such a completeness that nothing in this creation can change the very nature of the Godhead. I also describe The Godhead as panentheistic, (not pantheistic,) meaning intimaely involved in the creation, or the continued existence of that very same creation. This latter "attribute" makes the Godhead imminent, meaning as close as "over my shoulder" (to quote a Celtic description of the nearness of God), which makes The Godhead approachable and capable of being experienced intimately by me, or any one else.
