Best Original Graphics in
a QB Game
2001 QB Gaming Gold Awards
This year's nominees for the QB Gaming
Gold awards put two of the leading QB graphics libraries, DirectQB and
Future Library, to the test. In addition, TMB provided it's own presence
through the first shooter in QB to match Apogee's standards. Whether you're
an undercover agent trying to dodge police guards, a fighter pilot flying
through the trenches or past a land-to-air armada, a wizard with an eye
for spectacular special effects, or a warrior trying to bring peace to
a choatic homeland, these five QB games are the ones that put this compiler
to the limit.
The Nominees for Best Original Graphics
in a QB Game are:
Ultimate Super Stack (Oren Bartal)
Oren Bartal's original puzzle game only
got better in this latest installment, with super stars and other new zany
effects that tested DirectQB in new and innovative ways.
PromZone (SV Reanimator)
One of the most polished QB platformers
of all time, PromZone did an excellent job of creating a dark atmosphere
for this secret-agent style game.
Mysterious Song (Darkness Ethereal)
Mysterious Song may very well be the closest
QB has been to a complete game that maintains a healthy Final Fantasy/Dragon
Warrior kind of look.
Dynamic: Colonization of Jupiter (Sasha
Vukelich)
Sasha Vukelich's testament to the Future
Library is shown through Dynamic: Colonization of Jupiter, a game in which
the eye is treated to new levels of speed and special effects.
Percussor (TMB)
Only the well-trained eye can see how
Percussor pays attention to the more subtle effects (like shadowing) that
add a new level of realism to a QB arcade game.
And the winner is...
Mysterious Song!
