Gaming Gold Gaming Legend
2001 QB Gaming Gold Awards
The Gaming Gold Gaming Legend award is
the only award given out during the Gaming Gold Awards that is given to
a single QB journalist, QB programmer, QB webmaster or QB gamer who has
made amazing contributions to the QB community. As last year proved, it's
an easy award to attain, since there are so many people to honor and only
so many awards to go around. The people who win Gaming Legends are simply
the best of the best.
This year features a mixture of journalists,
programmers, webmasters, and gamers. Among them include someone who pioneered
a type of game that seemed impossible, a programmer who helps out people
at the community, a programmer and webmaster who often seeks sanctuary,
the owner of one of the most generous QB site hosting services on the Internet,
and the only person nominated this year who can claim righteously (among
a QB journalist, QB programmer, QB webmaster, or QB gamer) to be all four.
The Nominees for Gaming Gold Gaming
Legend are:
Alipha
Making stops at Future Software and the
now old QBasic.com, Alipha is known as one of the most frequent helpers
at the QB discussion boards, giving quick feedback to new QB programmers
and making sure they are on the right track. Alipha was nominated to the
Gaming Gold Gaming Legend category by many of the people he had helped
during his stays at the discussion boards. Humble, his name is known by
the best by the people whom he helped.
Nekrophidius
Though most popular for the release of
his massive but unfinished QBRPG Wrath of Sona, Nekrophidius has also made
a name for himself by being the main writer for QB on Acid, the most brutally
honest QB magazine publication ever released. Nekrophidius is also a major
contributor to Darkness Ethereal and Lost socK Software.
Marcade
A man of the elements, Marcade is best
known as the person who put together NeoBasic (a free-flowing place for
QB conversation and a major QB download site), Zengun Technologies (a QB
website hosting service), and Marcade.net (a fiery sanctuary intended to
be the home of his "brainwaves" and other devious schemes).
Tek
Tek is the man behind tekscode.com, and
NeoZones Productions. Tekscode.com is a site-hosting service and NeoZones
Productions is one of the longest lasting QB sites of all time. NeoZones
Productions is most noted for QCity, a virtual paradise for QB game and
utility downloaders.
Dieter Marfurt
This year Dieter Marfurt shattered the
notion that QB couldn't integrate 3D realistically into it's games by producing
two game demos. The first is QB Kaboom!, a first person shooter where the
spirit of Wolfenstein 3D meets with a little bit of Arachnophobia. The
second is QManche, a mind-blowing helicopter simulation.
And the winner is...
Nekrophidius!
