Jacob Julian Grigg at age of 21, left his home in Roche, England and departed England (Port Plymouth, Devonshire) on 17 May 1837 in a sailing ship called "City of Edinburgh". Jacob Grigg arrived in Sydney on 31 Aug 1837 with his brother (John Julian Grigg), his sister-in-law (Mary Ann Grigg) and his niece (Elizabeth Grigg). Jacob continued to Victoria, arrived 10 Dec 1840, thus he became one of the Port Phillip Pioneers.
