Lord Sri Balaji

A rare photo of the main Balaji deity at his main temple at Tirupati, India.

Popular Form of Vishnu in South India

Lord Balaji is a deity form of Lord Vishnu very popular in south India. He is the main deity form worshiped by the Sri Vaishnava sect.

Vishnu in Search of His Missing Wife

It is said that after a misunderstanding between Lord Vishnu and his wife Lakshmi, she left the spiritual realm for Earth. Lord Vishnu became very lonely without her. After awhile he went to Earth to find her in the deity form of Lord Balaji. The place where his adventures in search for his wife took place is Tirupati in India, which the the most holy spot for devotees of Lord Balaji and the temple where the main Balaji deity resides. The Balaji temple in Tirupati is the richest and most visited temple in the world.

An Easy God to Please

Balaji is considered the ideal form of Vishnu to worship during the current age of Kaliyuga, a time when dharma is at the weakest, since he is more easy to please then other forms of Vishnu.
