Mother Saraswati
Goddess of Learning and CultureSaraswati is the goddess of learning and culture, and the patron of artists. She is extremely beautiful with a fair complexion and dresses all in white. She always holds a musical instrument called a veena. She also carried prayer beads, The Vedas, and a water pot. Her four arms represent mind, intellect, alertness, and ego. She normally rides a swan or a peacock. A Very Smart GoddessHer powers are speech, wisdom and learning. It is common for Hindu students to pray to her to help in their classes. All books and objects of learning are sacred to her. She is associated with knowledge, wisdom, speech, science, music, painting, literature, dance, and all other arts and knowledge. She is the shakti (power) of Lord Brahma as that is her husband, though she is far far more worshiped then he is. |
