She is normally seen riding a lion. Parvati turned into Durga to fight the Buffalo Demon. Durga means Inaccessible. She is loving and kind to her devotees yet fierce to those who go against the dharma. Durga is the warrior aspect of Shakti, the energy of Shiva. She holds the weapons of all the gods in her many arms. It was with the help of Durga that Rama defeated Ravana.
